The purpose of this study is to determine the optimal groundwater yield for a small rural watershed, which is necessary for effective groundwater management. The study area$(3.89km^2)$ is located in Kyungpook Sangju Yangchon-dong and hourly groundwater level in an observation well is observed and the data are used to verify the visual MODFLOW model. The groundwater model is applied in the same area to obtain optimal yield for 1992 and 1994, 1982. The optimal yield in this experimental watershed ranged $12.5\%\;to\;14.0\%$ of the annual infiltration rate.
A web based watershed and sewer management system was developed for the analysis of stormwater runoff and sewer flow, and for optimal operation of sewer works using ArcView and SWMM. SWMM and ArcView were dynamically linked together using Avenue and Visual Basic in order to construct user-friendly management system. The developed system was applied to Choonchun city to verify its utilities. All the relevant field data were analyzed on the basis of developed system, and the modeling of runoff and sewer flow was implemented using RUNOFF and TRANSPORT blocks in SWMM. This system was connected to the management system of surface and subsurface environment management system in order to develop an integrated environmental management system. Futhermore, this system will be a critical part of overall control system of sewer works including sewer line and wastewater treatment plant. As this system can provide comprehensive prediction of flow and pollution profiles and analytical tool equipped with Web-GIS, it could serve widely as a tool not only for optimal management, but also for decision support system to examine the efficiency of planning and implementation of sewer projects.

This study intended to develop an integrated governance model and find measures to manage nonpoint source (NPS) pollutions in watershed management. To reach this goal, this study has analyzed NPS pollution management policies in Korea and has employed statistical methods such as expert Delphi survey, analysis of variance, and factor analysis. As a result, this study has found that the favored basic organization form was a private-public cooperative council. The necessary governance-based NPS pollution management measures determined through this study are as follows: to build collaboration mechanisms including those related to motivation provision, trust building, capacity building, and making optimal regulations; to employ financial resources based on principles such as 'polluter-pays', 'recipient-pays', and 'general-tax-source'; and to develop several programs, including system improvement, pilot and management projects, and publicity.
Climate change can impact hydrologic processes of a watershed system. The integrated modeling systems need to be built to predict and analyze the possible impacts of climate change on water environment for the optimal water resource operation and management. In this study, Namgang Dam watershed in the Nakdong River basin was selected as a study area. To evaluate the vulnerability of Namgang Dam watershed caused by climate change, the change in hydrologic runoff were predicted using the watershed model, SWAT. The RCM scenario was analyzed and downscaled using the artificial neural network and the dynamic quantile mapping. The results of this study will be utilized for suggesting an effective counterplan for climate change, and finally to propose the optimal water resource management method.

In this study, a decision support system (DSS) was developed to calculate optimal wastetreatment cost, treatment level and treatment quantity of various pollutants for applying for in rural basin. The DSS includes a gegraphic informatino system (GIS), relational database system (RDBS), water quality models(Loading function , WASP5), watershed pollution load calculation module(SPLC), optimal water quality management plan to satisfy the water quality regulations. The system can be modified by user to trace the optimal condition for decision. The effort was conducted to apply the developed DSS to select the for optimal water quality management plan small rural basin called Kwanri Stream.
An integrated sewer management system was developed for the analysis of sewer flow and for optimal operation of sewer works using ArcView and SWMM. SWMM and ArcView were dynamically linked together using Avenue in order to construct user-friendly management system. The developed system was applied to a residential area in Choonchun city to verify its utilities. All the relevant field data were analyzed on the basis of developed system, and the modeling of sewer flow was implemented using RUNOFF, EXTRAN, TRANSPORT in SWMM. This system is now in the process of connection to the management system of watershed and surface environment in order to develope an integrated environmental management system. Futhermore, this system will be a critical part of overall control system of sewer works including sewer line and wastewater treatment plant. As this system can provide comprehensive prediction of flow and pollution profiles, it could serve as a tool not only for optimal management, but also for decision support system to examine the efficiency of planning and implementation of sewer projects.

The purpose of this study is to estimate overall reliability and applicability of the watershed modeling for systematic management of point and non-point sources via water quality analysis and prediction of runoff discharge within watershed. Recently, runoff characteristics and pollutant characteristics have been changing in watershed by anomaly climate and urbanization. In this study, the effects of watershed scale were analyzed in runoff and water quality modeling using HSPF. In case of correlation coefficient, its range was from 0.936 to 0.984 in case A(divided - 2 small watersheds). On the other hand, its range was form 0.840 to 0.899 in case B(united - 1 watershed). In case of Nash-Sutcliffe coefficient, its range was from 0.718 to 0.966 in case A. On the other hand, its range was from 0.441 to 0.683 in case B. As a result, it was judged that case A was more accurate than case B. Therefore, runoff and water quality modeling in minimum watershed scale that was provided data for calibration and verification was judged to be favorable in accuracy. If optimal watershed dividing and parameter optimization using PEST in HSPF with more reliable measured data are carried out, more accurate runoff and water quality modeling will be performed.

The main objective of this study is to extract the hydro-Parameter of the Tamjin River basin. A CIS is capable of extracting various hydrological factors from DEM. One of important tasks for hydrological analysis is the division of watershed. In this study, watershed itself and other geometric factors of watershed are extracted from DEM by using a CIS technique. The data of topographical map with scale of 1:25,000 and 1:250,000 in the Tamjin River basin is used for this study and it is converted to DEM date. Various forms of representation of spatial data are handled in main modules and a CRID module of ArcView. A GRID module is used on a stream in order to define watershed boundary. Based on the spatial analysis using those GIS technique, it would be possible to obtain the reasonable results of watershed characteristics. Also, the results show not only that GIS can aid watershed management, research and surveillance, but also that the geometric characteristics as parameters of watershed can be quantified more accurately and easily than conventional graphic methods. From the equations($Y=14632.87{\cdot}X^{-0.542444},\;Y=37014.1{\cdot}X^{-1.058808}$), it can be concluded that the optimal count of flow accumulation is 468 and cell size is 42m for spatial analysis by using GIS technique in Tamjin River basin.
In this study, we tried to present a method for calculating the amount of regression using a watershed modeling method that can simulate the hydrological mechanism of water balance analysis and agricultural water based on watershed unit. Using the soil water assessment tool (SWAT), a watershed water balance analysis was conducted considering the simulation of paddy fields for the Manbongcheon Standard Basin (97.34 km2), which is a representative agricultural area of the Yeongsan river basin. Before evaluating return flow, the SWAT was calibrated and validated using the daily streamflow observation data at Naju streamflow gauge station (NJ). The coefficient of determination (R2), Nash-Sutcliffe Efficiency (NSE), Root-Mean-Square Error (RMSE) of NJ were 0.73, 0.70, 0.64 mm/day. Based on the calibration results for three years (2015-2017), the quick return flow and the return rate compared to the water supply amount for the irrigation period (April 1 to September 30) were calculated, and the average return flow rate was 53.4%. The proposed method of this study may be used as foundation data to optimal agricultural water supply plan for rational watershed management.
This study reviews a urban flooding risk criteria estimation model to predict risk criteria in areas where flood risk criteria are not precalculated by using watershed characteristic data and limit rainfall based on damage history. The risk criteria estimation model was designed using Support Vector Machine, one of the machine learning algorithms. The learning data consisted of regional limit rainfall and watershed characteristic. The learning data were applied to the SVM algorithm after normalization. We calculated the mean absolute error and standard deviation using Leave-One-Out and K-fold cross-validation algorithms and evaluated the performance of the model. In Leave-One-Out, models with small standard deviation were selected as the optimal model, and models with less folds were selected in the K-fold. The average accuracy of the selected models by rainfall duration is over 80%, suggesting that SVM can be used to estimate flooding risk criteria.
