Stochastic Mixture Modeling of Driving Behavior During Car Following

  • This paper presents a stochastic driver behavior modeling framework which takes into account both individual and general driving characteristics as one aggregate model. Patterns of individual driving styles are modeled using a Dirichlet process mixture model, as a non-parametric Bayesian approach which automatically selects the optimal number of model components to fit sparse observations of each particular driver's behavior. In addition, general or background driving patterns are also captured with a Gaussian mixture model using a reasonably large amount of development data from several drivers. By combining both probability distributions, the aggregate driver-dependent model can better emphasize driving characteristics of each particular driver, while also backing off to exploit general driving behavior in cases of unseen/unmatched parameter spaces from individual training observations. The proposed driver behavior model was employed to anticipate pedal operation behavior during car-following maneuvers involving several drivers on the road. The experimental results showed advantages of the combined model over the model adaptation approach.

  • The reduction of the ripple of driving force is especially required for the practical utilization of linear synchronous motor for rope-less elevator. In this paper, the magnetic region of the linear motor is optimized by using topology optimization techniques (density method and ON/OFF method) in order to reduce the ripple of driving force. The optimal results of both methods are compared, and useful information for the optimal design of linear motor is obtained.

  • This paper presents the optimal design for reducing the rotor inertia in order to improve the driving characteristic of BLDC motor for robots. The parallel Genetic Algorithm is performed to rotor inertia minimization in optimal design. Also, velocity profile with finite jerk method is introduced to reduce vibration of BLDC motor. As a result, a torque characteristic is same although rotor inertia is reduced to 2/3 compared with prototype model. And, maximum vibration value is reduced by 63.4[$\%$] according to the application of finite .jerk method.

  • Optimal Driving of Photo-Sensor for Control of a Mixed Environment was realized. The control system was carried out to investigate into the characteristics of Real time control of temperature and humidity at sprouts cutivators. Especially, for led's control for the cultivation of sprouts we have composed a Combined Automatic Control System possible for the control of temperature and humidity at the same time. The applied Photo-Sensor measurement are blue, green, red, white, yellow leds. And we had also designed the Web Programming for the automatic control about sprouts plants.

  • This paper presents a simple torque estimation method and switching angle control of Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) using Neural Network (NN). SRM has gaining much interest as industrial applications due to the simple structure and high efficiency. Adaptive switching angle control is essential for the optimal driving of SRM because of the driving characteristic varies with the load and speed. The proper switching angle which can increase the efficiency was investigated in this paper. NN was adapted to regulate the switching angle and nonlinear inductance modelling. Experimental result shows the validity of the switching angle controller.

  • Electro-Luminescence (EL) sheets have been widely used in lighting displays, mainly used as advertisement panels. To drive the ELs in optimal conditions, it is required to understand the load profile of the EL. Hence, in this paper, a modeling for an EL sheet was performed to analyze the load characteristics of the EL. Based on the extracted model of the EL, a topology for inverter system was chosen and the optimal design parameters were obtained. The validity of the designed EL driver system was verified through computer simulations and experiments.

  • In this paper, 2-axis driving mechanism, which uses voice coil motor (VCM), is proposed to measure the friction force. The proposed VCM actuator consists of two parts; structural part and magnetic circuit part. Structural part is simplified to perform the friction experiments. Magnetic circuit part is composed of two parts. The experiments are accomplished by changing the mass of moving part. Through the experiments, optimal dimension is selected. Finally, the experimental results are verified and the optimal case is applied to the 2-axis driving mechanism, optical image stabilization actuator.

  • The multi-driver off-road vehicle drive-line consists of many components, with close connections among them. In order to design and analyze the drive-line efficiently, a modular methodology should be taken. The aim of a modular approach to the modeling of complex systems is to support behavior analysis and simulation in an iterative and thus complex engineering process, by using encapsulated submodels of components and of their interfaces. Multi-driver off-road vehicles are comparatively complicated. The driving-line is an important core part to the vehicle, it has a significant contribution to the performance. Multi-driver off-road vehicles have complex driving-lines, so performance is heavily dependent on the driving-line. A typical off-road vehicle's driving-line system consists of a torque converter, transmission, transfer case and driving-axles, which transfers the power generated by the engine and distributes it effectively to the driving wheels according to the road condition. According to its main function, this paper proposes a modularized approach for design and evaluation of the vehicle's driving-line. It can be used to effectively estimate the performance of the driving-line during the concept design stage. Through an appropriate analysis and assessment method, an optimal design can be reached. This method has been applied to practical vehicle design, it can improve the design efficiency and is convenient to assess and validate the performance of a vehicle, especially of multi-driver off-road vehicles.

  • The objective of this paper is to develop a motion base for the vehicle driving simulator. Kinematic analysis are carried out to obtain maximum strokes and velocities of hydraulic actuators. Hydraulic control forces of the actuators are estimated by inverse dynamic analysis. Finally, an optimal design is performed to find attachment points of the actuators so that control forces are minimized. A control logic for the motion base is developed to make the motion base follow the given reference signals. The control logic is implemented on a digital signal processor(DSP) board.
