Priority Based Interface Selection for Overlaying Heterogeneous Networks

  • Offering of different attractive opportunities by different wireless technologies trends the convergence of heterogeneous networks for the future wireless communication system. To make a seamless handover among the heterogeneous networks, the optimization of the power consumption, and optimal selection of interface are the challenging issues. The access of multi interfaces simultaneously reduces the handover latency and data loss in heterogeneous handover. The mobile node (MN) maintains one interface connection while other interface is used for handover process. However, it causes much battery power consumption. In this paper we propose an efficient interface selection scheme including interface selection algorithms, interface selection procedures considering battery power consumption and user mobility with other existing parameters for overlaying networks. We also propose a priority based network selection scheme according to the service types. MN‘s battery power level, provision of QoS/QoE and our proposed priority parameters are considered as more important parameters for our interface selection algorithm. The performances of the proposed scheme are verified using numerical analysis.

An Improved Zone-Based Routing Protocol for Heterogeneous Wireless Sensor Networks

  • In this paper, an improved zone-based routing protocol for heterogeneous wireless sensor networks is proposed. The proposed protocol has fixed the sized zone according to the distance from the base station and used a dynamic clustering technique for advanced nodes to select a cluster head with maximum residual energy to transmit the data. In addition, we select an optimal route with minimum energy consumption for normal nodes and conserve energy by state transition throughout data transmission. Simulation results indicated that the proposed protocol performed better than the other algorithm by reducing energy consumption and providing a longer network lifetime and better throughput of data packets.

  • In this work, we present the novel scheduling algorithm of the multimedia data retrieval for the mobile disk drive. Our algorithm is focused on minimizing the power consumption involved in data retrieval from the local disk drive. The prime commodity in mobile devices is the electricity. Strict restriction on power consumption requirement of the mobile device put unique demand in designing of its hardware and software components. State of the art disk based storage subsystem becomes small enough to be embedded in handhold devices. It delivers abundant storage capacity and portability. However, it is never be trivial to integrate small hard disk or optical disk drive in handhold devices due to its excessive power consumption. Our algorithm ARM in this article generates the optimal schedule of retrieving data blocks from the mobile disk drive while guaranteeing continuous playback of multimedia data.

RNN을 활용한 도시철도 역사 부하 패턴 추정 (Estimation of Electrical Loads Patterns by Usage in the Urban Railway Station by RNN)

  • For effective electricity consumption in urban railway station such as peak load shaving, it is important to know each electrical load pattern by various usage. The total electricity consumption in the urban railway substation is already measured in Korea, but the electricity consumption for each usage is not measured. The author proposed the deep learning method to estimate the electrical load pattern for each usage in the urban railway substation with public data such as weather data. GRU (gated recurrent unit), a variation on the LSTM (long short-term memory), was used, which aims to solve the vanishing gradient problem of standard a RNN (recursive neural networks). The optimal model was found and the estimation results with that were assessed.

냉방시스템의 운전조건에 따른 에너지 소비특성 연구 (The Characteristics of Energy Consumption with Operational Conditions for the Central Cooling System)

  • The operational conditions such as cooling tower water pump flow rate, cooling tower fan flow rate, and chiller capacity in heat source equipment, and supply air temperature and chilled water temperature in air conditioner are considered to study the effects on energy consumption for central cooling system by using TRNSYS program. As a result, the optimal values of supply air temperature and chilled water temperature for minimal total energy consumption are 12℃ and 8℃. And if maximum values of cooling tower water pump and fan flow rate is decreased from 100% to 40%, energy consumptions are increased 170MJ/day and 63.2MJ/day, respectively.

  • This paper presents a window-based load management system (LMS) package developed as a decision-making tool in the competitive electricity market. The presented LMS package can help the users to monitor system load patterns, analyze their past energy consumption and schedule the future energy consumption. The LMS package can also provide the effective information on real-time energy/cost monitoring, consumed energy/cost analysis, demand schedule and cost-savings. The developed LMS package can be used to establish the optimal demand schedule and consumption strategy.

  • In this paper, we present a reducing power consumption of a scheduling for module selection under the time constraint. Traditional high-level synthesis do not allow reuse of complex, realistic datapath component during the task of scheduling. On the other hand, the proposed scheduling of reducing power consumption is able to approach a productivity of the design the low power to reuse which given a library of user-defined datapath component and to share of resource sharing on the switching activity in a shared resource. Also, we are obtainable the optimal the scheduling result in experimental results of our approach various HLS benchmark environment using chaining and multi-cycling in the scheduling techniques..

모바일용 디지털 오디오 스피커를 위한 고효율 드라이버 설계 (A High-Efficiency Driver Design for Mobile Digital Audio Speakers)

  • In this paper, we designed Interpolation FIR(Finite Impulse Response) filter and 1-bit SDM(Sigma- Delta Modulator) for small digital audio speaker, which has low power consumption and high output characteristics. In order to achieve high linearity and low distortion performance of the systems, we adopt Type I Chevychev FIR filter which has equiripple characteristics in the pass band and proposed high efficient FIR filter structure. SDM is the most efficient modulation technique among the noise shaping techniques. In this paper, we implemented SDM using CIFB(Cascade of Intergrators, Feed-Back) which is generally used in DAC of small digital audio speakers. The proposed SDM structure can achieve high SNR, high-efficiency characteristics and low power consumption in mobile devices. Also considering manufacture of SoC(System on Chip), we performed simulation with Matlab and Verilog HDL to obtain optimal number of operational bits and verified a good experimental results.

An Offloading Strategy for Multi-User Energy Consumption Optimization in Multi-MEC Scene

  • Mobile edge computing (MEC) is capable of providing services to smart devices nearby through radio access networks and thus improving service experience of users. In this paper, an offloading strategy for the joint optimization of computing and communication resources in multi-user and multi-MEC overlapping scene was proposed. In addition, under the condition that wireless transmission resources and MEC computing resources were limited and task completion delay was within the maximum tolerance time, the optimization problem of minimizing energy consumption of all users was created, which was then further divided into two subproblems, i.e. offloading strategy and resource allocation. These two subproblems were then solved by the game theory and Lagrangian function to obtain the optimal task offloading strategy and resource allocation plan, and the Nash equilibrium of user offloading strategy games and convex optimization of resource allocation were proved. The simulation results showed that the proposed algorithm could effectively reduce the energy consumption of users.

  • To minimize the fuel consumption in the hybrid vehicle, the single performance index, which can express the fuel consumption in engine and electric energe consumption in battery system at the same time, is required. In this study we proposed a single performance index with equivalent BSFC concept, and with this, we constructed driving control algorithm, which can determine optimal gear ratio and power split ratio of the engine and the motor, for the parallel hybrid vehicle. Additionally, to verify the validity of this algorithm, driving simulation is performed.
