  • This paper presents the reclosing algorithm considering the DG(Distributed Generation). The algorithm consists of angle oscillation's judgment, EEEAC(Emergency Extended Equal-Area Criterion), calculation of optimal reclosing time and reconnection algorithm. The simulation is implemented for the three different DG technologies by using EMTP MODELS.

  • This paper shows a new efficient solution method of finding an optimal path for a cruise missile or aircraft to a target which has the maximal survivability and penetration effectiveness against sophisticated defenses and over varied terrain. We first generate a grid structure over the terrain, to construct a network. Since our network usually has about 10,000 nodes, the conventional Dijkstra algorithm takes too much computational time in its searching process for a new permanent node. Our method utilizes the Hashing technique to reduce the computational time of the searching process. Extensive computational results are presented.

  • The purpose of this thesis is to find the shortest path between two nodes on an acyclic network where the arc costs are determined by the starting time at the starting node of the arc. A branch and bound method for optimal solutions and a heuristic method is developed. In heuristic method Dijkstra algorithm is modified to maintain the minimum arrival times of maximum informations in the each time period at each node and is updated by the result with the insertion technique. Expermetal results among two methods are presented with regard to run time and solution qualities.

  • This study presents the optimization technique to determine the cable areas of the cable-stayed bridge. The optimization method presented in this paper is based on an evolutionary procedure, in which the area of high stressed cable is increased step-by-step until an optimal area of the cable is obtained. A comparison between the maximum values of the present method and those of the cable-stayed bridge that has the same cable area shows the advantages of the present method.

  • This paper presents an optimum control of the field resistance for the self-excited DC shunt generator to keep a constant terminal voltage in case of the load change or the torque variation in the system. The non-linearity of the system is linearized by applying the small signal technique and the linearized equation is solved by the maximum principle with the digital computer. The optimal control value of the field resistance for the step error of the generator output voltage is obtained and the transient voltage characteristics in the system are investigated.

  • This paper presents an approach for thermal Unit Commitment by Lagrangian Relaxation with fuzzy technique. A proposed algorithm makes it possible to execute optimal decision making between Generation Cost and Load Demand with membership function. In order to test the validity of the proposed method, we applied to Mid-westerm utility system which has 20 thermal units. So, the usefulness of this method is verified.

  • A new integral controller is proposed for time-delay plants. The proposed controller has Davison type structure and utilizes a simplified state predictor instead of the optimal state predictor for the extended system. The simplified predictor is introduced by a trick similar to that used in the Smith predictor. As a systematic method for designing the proposed controller, the application of the loop transfer recovery (LTR) technique is considered. For the plant input side and the output side, explicit representations of the sensitivity matrices achieved by enforcing the formal LTR procedure using Riccati equations are obtained. A numerical example is presented to compare the asymptotic...

  • For more economical operation of chemical plants, optimal operating conditions are to be set and maintained as far as possible. For this purpose, optimizing control is applied to chemical plants. In this study, a process optimizer composed of a process simulator and an optimization routine using Successive Quadratic Programming as optimization technique is developed and the effect of optimizing control is tested on an example process, and a new process optimization strategy based on modified Jacobian matrix is developed.

  • This paper proposes a performance improvement to a control system with state feedback control loops and feedforward control loops proposed in a previous paper. The technique allows to solve the regulator problem and at the same time to make the system follow command signal. The scheme is implemented in a 16 bit microcomputer using a floating coprocessor. Tests on a DC machine have been conducted, comparisons with the previous results are made.

  • This paper presents optimal recursive digital filter design to meet simultaneous specifications of magnitude and linear phase characteristics. As is well known, the overshoot in the vicinity of discontinuity is hight. The technique using linear programming (the dual programming) is choosing more specification points in the vicinity of band limit frequency. The resulting filter can shown improved response and numerical accuracy with reduced nonuniform specification points in frequency domain.
