  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of sleep environment on individual sleep and to calculate optimal sleep environment. The input and output data sets are selected and the optimized sleep environment information is calculated using the neuro-fuzzy technique. Provides optimal sleep environment considering sleep duration. The arousal ratio calculated by the proposed method is 12%, which is at least 5% lower than the previous studies.

  • Determination of a two-point boundary value problem is the key of finding the control function u(t) with the application of the fundamental idea of Minimum principle. The late development shows the discovery of the initial costate vector for the solution of a two-point value problem. As a new technique of determining the optimal control function, Newton's Sequential method is examined about a number of engineering problems and found available.

  • The torque of SRM is developed by phase currents and inductance variation. The inductance of torque generation region is nonlinearly varied according to phase current. By this nonlinear characteristics, torque ripple can be generated on the condition of constant current. Otherwise, phase current should be controlled instantaneously in accordance with inductance to reduce torque ripple. In this paper, the control system with neural network that can reduce torque ripple is suggested. In this control system, instantaneous inductance and optimal current waveform for smallest torque ripple is obtained by neural network. And this required optimal current waveform is regulated by voltage control.

  • We perform a computational complexity analysis of a heuristic algotithm proposed in the literature for the combinatorial optimization problems extended with a single side-constraint. This algorithm, although such a view was not given in the original work, is a disguised version of an optimal Lagrangian dual solution technique. It also has been observed to be a very efficient heuristic producing near-optimal solutions for the primal problems in some experiments. Especially, the number of iterations grows sublinearly in terms of the network node size so that the heuristic seems to be particularly suitable for the applicatons such as routing with semi-real time requirements. The goal of this paper is to establish a polynomal worst-case complexity of the algorithm. In particular, the obtained complexity bound suports the sublinear growth of the required iterations.

  • We compare the achievable throughput of time division multiple access (TDMA) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) schemes illustrated in the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) MIMO technical report, versus the sum-rate capacity of space-time multiple access (STMA). These schemes have been proposed to improve the 3GPP high speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) channel by employing multiple antennas at both the base station and mobile stations. Our comparisons are performed in multi-user environments and are conducted using TDMA such as Qualcomm's High Data Rate and HSDPA, which is a simpler technique than STMA. Furthermore, we present the unified optimal power allocation strategy for HSDPA MIMO schemes by exploiting the similarity of multiple antenna systems and multi-user channel problems.

  • The body of an excavator, one sort of the construction equipment, consists of mainframe part, track frame part, boom part and arm part. The all parts are manufactured in the body welding operation. The scheduling in the body welding operation of a construction equipment manufacturing is to take all the various constraints into consideration. The offset time, due date, daily capacity of operations, daily jig's capacity, precedence relation, outsourcing, alternative resource and all of the shop floor environment should be considered. An APS(Advanced Planning & Scheduling) system is a proper and efficient system in such circumstance. In this paper, we present an APS system, the optimal scheduling system for the construction equipment manufacturing specifically for the body welding operation, using ILOG Solver/Scheduler. ILOG Solver/Scheduler is a general purposed commercial software which supports to find a feasible or optimal solution using object oriented technique and constraints satisfaction programming, given constraints and objectives.

  • GPS is widely used in various applications since GPS receivers are capable of measuring precise position and velocity in any weather condition for a relatively low cost. However, GPS requires more than four simultaneously visible GPS satellites for optimal performance. In high-motion, high-attitude-changing applications, there exist some situations where less than four satellites are visible or where the dilution of precision (DOP) is high. In this paper, we propose a simulation algorithm that predicts the performance of GPS navigation according to changes in vehicle attitude. We have compared simulation results with experimental results, where simulation results of the proposed algorithm are shown to closely match actual experimental data. This algorithm could be used to predict GPS navigational performance and to determine optimal GPS antenna position.

  • In this paper, thrust ripple is minimized using notch and slot-aperture width adjustment in a slotted PMLSM and then optimal design was achieved by using a neural network. This paper has used the moving model node technique to reduce the time and the effort for calculation according to changing design parameters. As the result, the detent force of optimal model is decreased from 9.44[N] to 0.97[N] greatly compare with it of basic model. The thrust is decreased 1.3[%] from 342.07[N] to 337.48[N] a little.

  • The path navigation of autonomous guided vehicle(AGV) or autonomous mobile robot(AMR) assumed that the environment was completely known and the obstacles were fixed. So that, in an environment only partly known or not known at all, the previous works were not successful since the path exploration techniques involved in the work were neither directly applicable nor extensible. In order to improve such problems, this paper was adopted the quadtree technique and proposed the algorithm for an optimal path planning autonomously in an environment and proved a validity through a simulation.

  • Nowadays, one of the serious problems in the KEPCO system is a much higher fault current than the SCC (Short Circuit Capacity) of the circuit breaker. Since superconductivity technology has become more developed, the HTS-FCL (High Temperature Superconductor-Fault Current Limiter) may become an attractive alternative to solving the fault current problem. In order to achieve the best performance, the parameters of HTS-FCL should be designed optimally. Under this setting, this paper presents the optimal design method of parameters for resistive type HTS-FCL using the Monte Carlo technique.
