폴리머 기반 슬림형 촉각센서의 최적 설계 및 새로운 공정 방법 (Polymer Based Slim Tactile Sensor: Optimal Design and New Fabrication Method)

  • In this study, we propose an optimal design and new fabrication method for a slim tactile sensor. Slim tactile sensor can detect 3-axial forces and has suitable flexibility for intelligent robot fingers. To amplify the contact signal, a unique table-shaped structure was attempted. A new layer-by-layer fabrication process for polymer micromachining that can make a 3D structure by using a sacrificial layer was proposed. A table-shaped epoxy sensing plate with four legs was built on top of a flexible polymer substrate. The plate can convert an applied force to a concentrated stress. Normal and shear forces can be detected by combining responses from metal strain gauges embedded in the polymer substrate. The optimal positions of the strain gauges are determined using the strain distribution obtained from finite element analysis.

  • In this paper, we show an optimal structure of impedance control in high density layouts ina high multilayers PCB. The impedance control in a high multilayers FR-4 PCB is very portant isue because a dielectric layer's thickness is very thin. Especially, odd mode impedance control is more difficult than characteristic impedance control in high multilayers PCB. So, we show an optimal structure of odd mode impedance control in that dielectric thickness is about 0.1mm with limited state and discuss multilayers PCB's for swich circuti pack and backplane in developing algorith scale ATM witching system in next time.

근사모델과 후처리를 이용한 트러스 구조물의 이산 치수설계 (Discrete Sizing Design of Truss Structure Using an Approximate Model and Post-Processing)

  • Structural optimization problems with discrete design variables require more function calculations (or finite element analyses) than those in the continuous design space. In this study, a method to find an optimal solution in the discrete design of the truss structure is presented, reducing the number of function calculations. Because a continuous optimal solution is the Karush-Kuhn-Tucker point that satisfies the optimality condition, it is assumed that the discrete optimal solution is around the continuous optimum. Then, response values such as weight, displacement, and stress are predicted using approximate models-referred to as hybrid metamodels-within specified design ranges. The discrete design method using the hybrid metamodels is used as a post-process of the continuous optimization process. Standard truss design problems of 10-bar, 25-bar, 15-bar, and 52-bar are solved to show the usefulness of this method. The results are compared with those of existing methods.

Evaluation and analytical approximation of Tuned Mass Damper performance in an earthquake environment

  • This paper aims at assessing the seismic performance of Tuned Mass Dampers (TMDs) based on sets of recorded ground motions. For the simplest configuration of a structure-TMD assembly, in a comprehensive study characteristic response quantities are derived and statistically evaluated. Optimal tuning of TMD parameters is discussed and evaluated. The response reduction by application of a TMD is quantified depending on the structural period, inherent damping of the stand-alone structure, and ratio of TMD mass to structural mass. The effect of detuning on the stroke of the TMD and on the structural response is assessed and quantified. It is verified that a TMD damping coefficient larger than the optimal one reduces the peak deflection of the TMD spring significantly, whereas the response reduction of the main structure remains almost unaffected. Analytical relations for quantifying the effect of a TMD are derived and subsequently evaluated. These relations allow the engineer in practice a fast and yet accurate assessment of the TMD performance.

이산 시변 상태공간 모델을 위한 최적 유한 임펄스 응답 필터 (An Optimal FIR Filter for Discrete Time-varying State Space Models)

  • In this paper, an optimal FIR (Finite-Impulse-Response) filter is proposed for discrete time-varying state-space models. The proposed filter estimates the current state using measured output samples on the recent time horizon so that the variance of the estimation error is minimized. It is designed to be linear, unbiased, with an FIR structure, and is independent of any state information. Due to its FIR structure, the proposed filter is believed to be robust for modeling uncertainty or numerical errors than other IIR filters, such as the Kalman filter. For a general system with system and measurement noise, the proposed filter is derived without any artificial assumptions such as the nonsingular assumption of the system matrix A and any infinite covariance of the initial state. A numerical example show that the proposed FIR filter has better performance than the Kalman filter based on the IIR (Infinite- Impulse-Response) structure when modeling uncertainties exist.

  • Optimal design of a piezoelectric smart structure is studied for cabin noise control. A cubic shaped acoustic cavity with a flat plate which covers one side is taken as the problem. The sensor signal is returned to the actuator through a negative gain. The acoustic cavity is modeled using the modal approach which represents the pressure fields in the cavity as a sum of mode shapes of the cavity with unknown coefficients. By using orthogonality of the mode shapes of the cavity, finite element equation for the structure with the influence of the acoustic cavity is derived. The objective function is the average pressure at a certain region, so-called silent zone, in the cavity and the design variables are the locations and sizes of the piezoelectric actuator and sensor. The optimal design is performed at several frequencies and the results show a remarkable noise reduction.

Comparison between uniform deformation method and Genetic Algorithm for optimizing mechanical properties of dampers

  • Seismic retrofitting of existing buildings and design of earth-quake resistant buildings are important issues associated with earthquake-prone zones. Use of metallic-yielding dampers as an energy dissipation system is an acceptable method for controlling damages in structures and improving their seismic performance. In this study, the optimal distribution of dampers for reducing the seismic response of steel frames with multi-degrees freedom is presented utilizing the uniform distribution of deformations. This has been done in a way that, the final configuration of dampers in the frames lead to minimum weight while satisfying the performance criteria. It is shown that such a structure has an optimum seismic performance, in which the maximum structure capacity is used. Then the genetic algorithm which is an evolutionary optimization method is used for optimal arrangement of the steel dampers in the structure. In continuation for specifying the optimal accurate response, the local search algorithm based on the gradient concept has been selected. In this research the introduced optimization methods are used for optimal retrofitting in the moment-resisting frame with inelastic behavior and initial weakness in design. Ultimately the optimal configuration of dampers over the height of building specified and by comparing the results of the uniform deformation method with those of the genetic algorithm, the validity of the uniform deformation method in terms of accuracy, Time Speed Optimization and the simplicity of the theory have been proven.

  • 유전자 알고리즘을 이용한 닐센아치교의 최적설계기법을 이 논문에서 제시하였다. 설계 매개변수로는 닐센아치교의 아치-라이즈비와 강중비에 대해서 최적화기법을 적용하여 각각의 거동을 분석하고, 적정성을 평가하여 최적의 매개변수 값을 결정하였다. 매개변수의 결정은 구조물의 안전성과 사용성 그리고 경제성에 중요한 설계인자로서 정형화가 요구된다. 이를 위해 최적화 기법으로 전역 최적해 탐색능력이 우수한 유전자 알고리즘을 사용하였으며, 설계 목적함수로는 구조물의 총 중량을 사용하였고, 제약조건으로는 변위, 응력, 시공성 제약조건을 두었다. 구조해석은 미소변위이론에 의한 탄성해석을 수행하여 유전자 알고리즘과 조합하여 병렬연산으로 수행시간을 단축시켰다. 이 연구에서 개발된 최적설계기법을 사용하여 최적의 아치-라이즈비와 강중비, 최적설계영역을 제시 하였으며 실무에 적용할 수 있도록 하였다.

  • In this paper, we investigate optimal policies for three age-dependent populations in a competition system, which is controlled by fertility. By using Dubovitskii-Milyutin's general theory, the maximum principles are obtained for problems with free terminal states, infinite horizon and target sets, respectively.

  • In this paper, the discrete optimal control is made to have the robust property of Sliding mode controller. A augmented system with a virtual state is constructed for this objective and noble sliding surface is constructed based on this system. The sliding surface is the same as the optimal control trajectory in the original system. The states follow the optimal trajectory even if there exist uncertainties. The reaching phase problem of sliding mode control is disappear in this method.
