The tracking control problem of a flexible manipulator with a prismatic joint along a given path is discussed. The nondimensionalization of the elastic part of the manipulator makes it possible to model such a flexible manipulator. For a discontinuous velocity trajectory, an optimal control theory has been applied to formulate the problem. The optimal scheme is given to find the input commands(e.g., joint torques) necessary to produce a, specified end effector motion. Simulated results show the potential use of this scheme for a discontinuous velocity trajectory control.
In this paper, we will present a deeper look on optimal design methods that are related to path-planning for a mobile robot. To control the motion of a mobile robot in a clustered environment, it's necessary to know a suitable trajectory assuming certain start and goal point. Up to now, there are many literatures that concern optimal path planning for an obstacle avoided mobile robot. Among those literatures, we have chosen 2 novel methods for our further analysis. The first approach [4] is based on HJB(Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman) equation whose solution is the return-function that helps to generate a shortest path to the goal. The later [5] is called polynomial-path-planning approach, in this method, a shortest polynomial-shape path would become a solution if it was a collision-free path. The camera network plays the role as sensors to generate updated map which locates the static and dynamic objects in the space. Therefore, the exhibition of both path planning and dynamic obstacle avoidance by the updated map would be accomplished simultaneously. As we mentioned before, our research will include the motion control of a true mobile robot on those optimal planned paths which were generated by above algorithms. Base on the kinematic and dynamic simulation results, we can realize the affection of moving speed to the stable of motion on each generated path. Also, we can verify the time-optimal trajectory through velocity tuning. To simplify for our analysis, we assumed the obstacles are cylindrical circular objects with the same size.
Robots are required to assist our activities in daily life. In this paper, we focus on arm movement to catch moving object as one of important tasks frequently performed by human. We propose an algorithm which enables a robot to perform human-like arm motion to catch a moving object. First we analyze human hand trajectories and velocity profiles to catch an object. From the experimental results, we extract some characteristics in the process of approaching and following a moving object and confirm that these are necessary to realize human-like motion. We then adopt an instantaneous optimal control method which evaluates the error and energy cost at each sampling step, and design two time-varying weight matrices to introduce human characteristic into robot motion. The matrix concerning the error is defined as a time-increasing ...

The objective of this research is to verify the quantitative efficiency of a bimanual robotic task. Bimanual robots can realize dexterous and complicated motions using two cooperating arms. However, its motion planning and control method are not simple for implementing flexible tasks such as assembly. In this paper, the proposed motion planning method is used to find an optimal solution satisfying a designed cost function and constraints with regard to the kinematics and redundancy of the bimanual robot. The simulation results show that the lifetime of the manipulator can be changed by the proposed cost function consisting of angular velocity and angular acceleration of each joint in the same assembly task.
This paper presents optimal walking trajectory generation for a quadruped robot with genetic-fuzzy algorithm. In order to move a quadruped robot smoothly, both generations of optimal leg trajectory and free walking are required. Generally, making free walking is difficult to realize for a quadruped robot, because the patterned trajectory may interfere in the free walking. In this paper, we suggest the generation method for the leg trajectory satisfied with free walking pattern so as to avoid obstacle and walk smoothly. We generate via points of leg with respect to body motion, and then we use the genetic-fuzzy algorithm to search for the optimal via velocity and acceleration information of legs. All these methods are verified with PC simulation program, and implemented to SERO-V robot.
This study was to compare the major kinematic factors between the success and failure group on performing the back somersault motion in floor exercise. Three gymnasts(height : $167.3{\pm}2.88cm$, age : $22.0{\pm}1.0years$, body weight : $64.4{\pm}2.3kg$) were participated in this study. The kinematic data was recorded at 60Hz with four digital video camera. Two successful motions and failure motions for each subject were selected for three dimensional analysis. 1. Success Trail It was appear that success trail was larger than failure group in projection velocity, but success trail was smaller than failure trail in projection angle. Also it was appear that success trail was longer than failure group in the time required. Hand segment velocity and maximum velocity in success trail were larger than those in failure trail, and this result was increasing the projection velocity and finally increasing the vertical height of center of mass. At the take-off(event 2), flection amount of hip and knee joint angle was contributed to the optimal condition for the take-off and at the peak point, hip and knee joint angle was maximum flexed for reducing the moment of inertia. Also in this point, upper extremities of success trail extended more than those of failure trail. in this base, success trail in upward phase(p3) 2. Failure Trail It was appear that failure trail was smaller than success trail in projection velocity, but failure trail was larger than success trail in projection angle. Also it was appear that failure trail was more short than success trail in the time required. Hand segment velocity and maximum velocity in failure trail were smaller than those in success trail, and this result was reducing the projection velocity and finally reducing the vertical high of center of mass. At the take-off(event 2), flection amount of hip and knee joint angle wasn't contributed to the optimal condition for the take-off and at the peak point, hip and knee joint angle wasn't maximum flexed for reducing the moment of inertia. Also in this point, upper extremities of failure trail didn't extended more than those of success trail.
Like the usual systems, the industrial robot manipulator has some constraints for motion. Usually we hope that the manipulators move fast to accomplish the given task. The problem can be formulated as the time-optimal control problem under the constraints such as the limits of velocity, acceleration and jerk. But it is very difficult to obtain the exact solution of the time-optimal control problem. This paper solves this problem in two steps. In the first step, we find the minimum time trajectories by optimizing cubic polynomial joint trajectories under the physical constraints using the modified evolution strategy. In the second step, the controller is optimized for robot manipulator to track precisely the optimized trajectory found in the previous step. Experimental results for SCARA type manipulator show that the proposed method is very useful.

The objective of this study is to predict the minimization effect of the noise and vibration during the construction and the train operation regarding to the design modification of the Taegu Subway Line No. 1. It was suggested optimal control blasting methods to reduce the causing vibration Nuance to the resident in City Taegu and also proposed the better governing method to decrease the environmental hazard to the near buildings and residents during the train operation. When the high-density gaseous reaction of explosion products exerts a high pressure in motion outward, a dynamic stress field will be created in the surrounding buildings. Therefore, in the region close to the charge, permanent damage begins to occur at a great critical level of partial velocity, that is difficult from different structure as working conditions. It is reliable to predict that the damages could be reduced if we know the peak velocity and the exact reasons through the conducting of detail studies of structural analysis of the related buildings with the optimal blasting designs. A blasting technique should be deemed to take advantage of the reduction of damage of the surrounding rocks and structures to improve the in-city blasting. This is a typical in-city blasting operation where success depends on closely controlling the ground vibrations in case of better designed blasting methods. There are techniques that can be applied to prevent large vibrations from damaging the important buildings through the Route Modification of the Taegu Subway Line No. 1.

We propose a motion planning method for autonomous mobile robots. In order to minimize traveling time, a smooth path and a time optimal velocity profile should be generated under kinematic and dynamic constraints. In this paper, we develop an effective and practical method to generate a good solution with lower computation time. The initial path is obtained from voronoi diagram by Dijkstra's algorithm. Then the path is improved by changing the graph and path simultaneously. We apply the dynamic programming algorithm into the stage of improvement. Simulation results are presented to verify the performance of the proposed method.
