Robust Wavelet Kalman Filter

  • Since Kalman filter and wavelet transform techniques are both suitable for a nonstationary process, wavelet-Kalman filter was proposed and applied to various industrial fields. However, the wavelet-Kalman filter subjected to model uncertainty with nonstationary process has not been considered. Thus, the robust wavelet-Kalman filter method is proposed in this paper. The proposed method can prevent the degradation of filter performance when parameter uncertainty exists in both the state and measurement matrices and preserve the merits of the standard Kalman filter in the sense that it produces optimal estimates. A simple example shows that the proposed approach outperforms the standard Kalman filter and the nominal wavelet-Kalman filter.

  • A dynamically positioned vessel must be capable of maintaining a specified position and direction by controlling the thruster devices. The motions of a vessel are often assuned to tne sum of low frequency(LF)motions and high frequency(HF)motions. The former is mainly due to wind, current and second order wave forces, while the latter is mainly due to first order wave forces. In order to avoid the high frequency thruser modulation, the control system must include filters to estimate the low frequency motions from the measured motion signals, This paper presents a control system based on Kalman filtering technique and optimal control tyeory. Using the combined kalmam filter, LF motion estimates and HF ones are achieved from the motion measurement of the vessel. The estimated low frequency motions are used as inputs to the dynamic positioning system. The thruster modulation is minimized using the optimal control theory; Linear Quadratic Gaussian(LQG)controller. The performances of the Kalman filter and the dynamic positioned vessel are investigated by computer simulation.

이산 시변 상태공간 모델을 위한 최적 고정 시간 지연 FIR 평활기 (An Optimal Fixed-lag FIR Smoother for Discrete Time-varying State Space Models)

  • In this paper, we propose an optimal fixed-lag FIR (Finite-Impulse-Response) smoother for a class of discrete time-varying state-space signal models. The proposed fixed-lag FIR smoother is linear with respect to inputs and outputs on the recent finite horizon and estimates the delayed state so that the variance of the estimation error is minimized with the unbiased constraint. Since the proposed smoother is derived with system inputs, it can be adapted to feedback control system. Additionally, the proposed smoother can give more general solution than the optimal FIR filter, because it reduced to the optimal FIR filter by setting the fixed-lag size as zero. A numerical example is presented to illustrate the performance of the proposed smoother by comparing with an optimal FIR filter and a conventional fixed-lag Kalman smoother.

  • This paper presents a procedure for the time-scale separation and a design method for the sub-optimal composite regulator and Kalman filter of the large-scale discrete stochastic system with two time-scale properties. Provided that the fast sub-system is asymptotically stable, the reduced-order regulator and Kalman filter for the slow sub-system with dominant modes is designed as a sub-optimal regulator for the system.

사다리형 SAW 필터의 최적 설계 (Optimal Design of Ladder Type SAW Filters)

  • 사다리형 SAW 필터의 개발을 위해서 종래에는 설계변수 하나하나를 변화시켜 시행착오식으로 사양을 만족시키는 값을 찾아야만 하였다. 본 연구에서는 주어진 사양을 만족시킬 수 있는 사다리형 SAW 필터의 패턴을 자동으로 설계하는 최적 설계법을 개발하였다. 우선 Smith 등가회로 해석법을 이용하여 사다리형 SAW 필터용 해석 프로그램을 제작하였으며, 그 프로그램에 의한 시뮬레이션 결과를 실제 제작된 시작품의 성능과 비교해 봄으로써 타당성을 검증하였다. 이 해석 프로그램을 바탕으로 설계변수의 조정에 따른 성능변수의 변화 경향을 분석함으로써 최적 설계 알고리즘을 개발하였으며. 그 타당성 및 효용성을 기 상용화된 제품들에 대해 시험 설계해 봄으로써 증명하였다.

Large-scaled truss topology optimization with filter and iterative parameter control algorithm of Tikhonov regularization

  • There are recently some advances in solving numerically topology optimization problems for large-scaled trusses based on ground structure approach. A disadvantage of this approach is that the final design usually includes many bars, which is difficult to be produced in practice. One of efficient tools is a so-called filter scheme for the ground structure to reduce this difficulty and determine several distinct bars. In detail, this technique is valuable for practical uses because unnecessary bars are filtered out from the ground structure to obtain a well-defined structure during the topology optimization process, while it still guarantees the global equilibrium condition. This process, however, leads to a singular system of equilibrium equations. In this case, the minimization of least squares with Tikhonov regularization is adopted. In this paper, a proposed algorithm in controlling optimal Tikhonov parameter is considered in combination with the filter scheme due to its crucial role in obtaining solution to remove numerical singularity and saving computational time by using sparse matrix, which means that the discrete optimal topology solutions depend on choosing the Tikhonov parameter efficiently. Several numerical examples are investigated to demonstrate the efficiency of the filter parameter control algorithm in terms of the large-scaled optimal topology designs.

단일 센서 기반 반향음 제어를 위한 최적 필터 설계 (A design of optimal filter for single sensor based acoustic reflection control)

  • 단일 센서 기반 반향음 제어 시스템은 하나의 센서 신호로부터 입사음과 반향음을 분리하여 추정하고, 입사신호로부터 반대위상의 신호를 발생시킴으로써 반향음을 감소시킨다. 본 논문에서는 단일 센서 기반 반향음 제어 시스템을 위한 최적 필터 설계 방법을 제안한다. 제안된 방법에서는 측정된 반향음 경로와 제어 경로의 임펄스 응답을 사용하여 최적 제어 필터 설계가 가능함을 보였다. 제안된 최적 필터를 기반으로 하는 반향음 제어 알고리즘은 기존의 적응 필터 기반 알고리즘에 비해 더 우수한 제어 성능을 얻을 수 있으며, 초기 수렴시간 없이 반향음을 효과적으로 제어한다. 1차원 음향 덕트 환경에서 얻어진 신호를 사용하여 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션을 수행하였으며, 시뮬레이션 결과로부터 제안한 최적 필터가 잡음 환경에서도 강건한 성능을 보임을 확인하였다.

웨지 와이어를 이용한 선박용 필터 스크린 제작을 위한 최적 지지 위치 및 안정성 판단 (Determination of Optimal Support Position and Stability for Manufacturing Filter Screen for Ships Using Wedge Wires)

  • In this study, the optimal support position determination and stability determination of the wedge wire screen were performed for the production of the wedge wire filter screen with improved mesh screen. In order to manufacture a filter screen using a wedge wire, the support rod wedge wire is first installed according to the filtering capacity, and then spot welding is performed while rotating the profile wire. In the existing manufacturing method, it was manufactured using a 3m rod wedge wire and then cut according to dimensions, but it required the manufacture of a 6m cylindrical screen. Due to the increase in wedge wire length, it is difficult to manufacture stress concentration at sagging and fixed positions. In order to shorten the time of analysis, a single wedge wire was applied instead of a plurality of wedge wires. The reliability and validity of the interpretation were presented and the results were derived. After selecting the support point at the 2m position, structural analysis was performed on the entire filter screen to confirm stability.The purpose of this study is to identify the maximum deflection of the wire for the production of a 6m wedge wire screen and secure design basic data so that it can work safely through optimal support.

연합형 칼만 필터를 이용한 차량항법시스템의 설계 (Design of a vehicle navigation system using the federated kalman filter)

  • The federated Kaman filter(FKF) is being widely used in many multisensor navigatiion systems. It is know that the FKF has advantages of simplicity and fault-tolerance over other decentralized filter techniques. In this paper, optimal and suboptimal FKF configuratiions are mentioned and a covariance analysis technique for the suboptimal FKF is newly presented. The suboptimal FKF configuration, known as No-reset(NR) mode, has better fault tolerance capability than the optimal FKF coniguratioin. In the suggested technique, a suboptimal fusion process of FKF is considered a swell as suboptimal gains of local filters. An upper boun of error covariance for suboptimal FKF is derived. Also, it is mathematically shown that this bound is smaller thanexisting bound in the literatrue. A vehicle-navigaion system is designed using the FKF. In thissystem, a map constraing equation is introduced and used as a measurement equatioin of Kalman filter. Performance analysis is done by the suggested covariance analysis techniques.

압축이득을 이용한 최적 웨이브렛 필터의 설계 (Optimal Wavelet Filter Design Using Coding Gain)

  • 본 논문에서는 압축 효율을 최적화 하는 웨이브렛 필터의 설계 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 제안한 알고리즘은 고정 양자화기를 이용하는 영상 부호화 응용에서 압축 방법에 상관없이 웨이브렛 변환 영역에서 각 대역의 에너지를 가장 불균등하게 압축하는 필터를 설계함으로써 전체적인 부호화 효율을 높일 수 있도록 하였다. 직교와 쌍직교 필터에서의 목적함수는 웨이브렛 변환 계층에 맞도록 확장시켜 각 계층별로 최적 필터 계수를 얻었으며 최적화 과정의 제한조건을 완화하여 압축이득을 최대화시킬 수 있도록 하였다. 제안한 방법으로 설계한 필터는 실험 결과 기존의 필터와 비교하여 에너지 압축이득이 향상되었음을 알 수 있었다.
