In this study, we conducted the preliminary research for high speed laser cutting of LED module. In particular, the feasibility of ultra-high speed laser cutting of 100 mm/s which exceeds the cutting speed of conventional dicing saw was examined. For this, copper/ceramic and silicone/ceramic hybrid substrates, which are the components of the LED module, were fabricated, and the surface morphology, surface roughness and flexural strength of the laser-cut samples were investigate and compared with the dicing-cut samples. To investigate optimal laser cutting conditions for hybrid substrates, the effects of various laser cutting conditions on cutting surface characteristics were studied using single ceramic and copper substrate. Optimal laser cutting conditions of the hybrid substrates were the use of Ar assist gas, high laser power and high assist gas pressure. Comparing the cutting surface of the hybrid substrates, the surface characteristics of the laser-cut samples are slightly inferior to those of the dicing-cut samples. The average surface roughness of the laser-cut samples was about $9{\mu}m$, and that of the dicing-cut samples was about $4{\mu}m$. However, considering very low cutting speed (3 mm/s) of the dicing saw, the surface morphology of the laser-cut sample was relatively uniform, and the surface roughness was not much different from that of the dicing-cut sample. The flexural strength of the laser-cut samples was equivalent to or slightly inferior to the flexural strength of dicing-cut samples. However, if the laser processing conditions are sufficiently optimized, the ultra-high speed laser cutting of the LED module will be possible.

Micro end-milling process is applied to fabricate precision mechanical parts cost-effectively. It is a complex and time-consuming job to select optimal process conditions with high productivity and quality. To improve the productivity and quality of precision mechanical parts, micro end-mill wear and cutting force characteristics should be studied carefully. In this paper, high speed machining experiments are studied to construct the optimum process design as well as the mathematical modeling of tool wear and cutting force related to cutting parameters in micro ball end-milling processes. Cutting force and wear characteristics under various cutting conditions are investigated through the condition monitoring system and the design of experiment. In order to construct the cutting database, mathematical models for the flank wear and cutting force gradient are derived from the response surface method. Optimal milling conditions are extracted from the developed experimental models.

The purpose of using coolant in machining is both to increase a tool life and also to prevent product deformation and thus, stabilize the surface quality by lubricating and cooling the tool and the machining surface. However, a very small amount of cutting mist should be used because chlorine-based extreme pressure additives are used to generate environmental pollutants in the production process and cause occupational diseases of workers. In this study, medical titanium alloy (Ti-6Al-7Nb) was subjected to a processing experiment by selecting factors and levels affecting cutting power in the processing of the Aerosol Dry Lubrication (ADL) method using vegetable oil. The machining shape was a slot to sufficiently reflect the effect of the cutting depth. As for the measurement of cutting force, the trend of cutting characteristics was identified through complete factor analysis. The factors affecting the cutting force of ADL slot processing were identified using the reaction surface analysis method, and the characteristics of the cutting force according to the change in factor level were analyzed. As the cutting speed increased, the cutting force decreased and then increased again. The cutting force continued to increase as the feed speed increased. The increase in the cutting depth increased the cutting force more significantly than the increase in the cutting speed and the feed speed. Through the reaction surface analysis method, the regression equation for predicting cutting force was identified, and the optimal processing conditions were proposed. The cutting force was predicted from the secondary regression equation and compared with the experimental value.

In order to perform a successful material cutting process, the operators are to select the suitable machining tools and cutting conditions for the cutting environment. Up to now, this has been a complicated procedure done by the data in the tool manufacturers' paper catalog and the operator's experiencial knowledge, so called heuristics. This research is motivated by the fact that using computer techniques in processing vast amount of data and information, the operator can determine the tool and cutting condition easily. In the developed program, the selection of milling cutter, insert, and components are combined to provide optimal cutting speed, depth of cut, feed rate, rpm, and power. This program also provides the selection routine for end mill, drilling, turning, and grinding where the suitable tools are selected by workpiece, holder type, cut type, and insert shape.
This study deals with the laser cutting of stencil for the PCB. The most important aim of this study is to determine optimal conditions which make good-qualify stencil in Nd:YAG laser cutting. We made an experiment according to various variables (power. type of mask. gas pressure, cutting speed, and pulse width) and analyzed the cutting characteristics (surface roughness, kerf width. dross) . Each variable has optimal value for good-qualify cut edge under fixed condition. And neural network after learning experimental data with a million time iteration could predict surface roughness of cut edge under arbitrary condition approximately.

The objective of this research is to investigate the effect of clearance angle on cutting performance in high speed endmilling. The tool geometry parameters and cutting process have complex relationship. In order to explain the effect of clearance angle and exist the optimal clearance angle according to the diameter, Using various tool with different clearance angle, numerous cutting tests (cutting force, surface accuracy, too life) was undertaken to show the relationship between clearance angle and cutting process.

Although the net-shape molding of composites is generally recommended, molded composites frequently required cutting or grinding due to the dimensional inaccuracy for precision machine elements. During the composite machining operations such as cutting and grinding, the temperature at the grinding area may increase beyond the allowed limit due to the low thermal conductivity of composites, which might degrade the matrix of composite. Therefore, in this work, the temperature at the grinding point during surface grinding of carbon fiber epoxy composite was measured. The grinding temperature and surface roughness were also measured to investigate the surface grinding characteristics of the composited. The experiments were performed both under dry and wet grinding conditions with respect to cutting speed, feed speed, depth of cut and stacking angle. From the experimental investigation, the optimal conditions for the composite plain grinding were suggested.

The purpose of this study is an evaluation of flat end mills to develop appropriate tools for the high speed machining. First of all, several flat end mills which are produced by different makers are selected to analyze the performances of the tools. Experimental works are also executed to measure cutting farce, tool wear and surface roughness for different cutting conditions. And then the results are compared and analyzed for developing optimal cutting tool in the high speed condition.

High speed machining (HSM) can reduce machining time with the high metal removal rate by high speed spindle and feedrate. This paper supports HSM technology using the small size tool with the optimal tool path generation and modification of tool change. The optimum tool path is generated to reduce cutting length of cavity pattern and change the cutting tool for preventing the tool breakage by wear. The tool path is modified with the experiment data of tool wear and breakage to support tool change on reasonable time. The result can contribute to HSM technology of high hardness materials using the small size end-mill.
To establish a Altari radish pre-processing system far kimchi, the leaves and root tail of the Altari radish cutting de-vices were developed. The cutting resistances depend on the edge angles, oblique angles and cutting speeds were measured and analyzed. The experiments were performed to reveal the optimal conditions that showed the minimum cutting resistances acting on the materials. As the results, the optimum conditions that acting on the leaves were at edge angle $25^{\circ}$, oblique angle $40^{\circ}$ and cutting speed 0.5 m/s, and those acting on the root tails were at edge angle $20^{\circ}$, oblique angle $30^{\circ}$ and cutting speed 0.5 m/s, respectively. Considered a safety conception, the oblique angle of the leaves cutting device was adjusted as $20^{\circ}$, and then the cutting efficiencies of the both devices at these conditions were showed perfect performances.
