The purpose of this research was to investigate and to find out the optimal annealing condition to mold an aspheric glass to be used for mobile phone module having 2 megapixel and $2.5{\times}$ zoom. Taking annealing rate and re-press temperature after molding as molding variables under the identical molding temperature and pressure, a glass lens was molded. And, Form Accuracy, Lens Thickness, Refractive Index, and Modulation Transfer Function(MTF) were measured in order to observe characteristics of molded lens, and then optimal annealing conditions were determined based on the resulting data. Properties of lens molded under the optimal conditions revealed Form Accuracy[PV] $0.2047\;{\mu}m$ in aspheric surface, and $0.2229\;{\mu}m$ in plane, and MTF value was 30.3 % under 80 lp/mm.

We develop a purification process of $Hg_2Br_2$ raw powders using a physical vapor transport(PVT) process, which is essential for the fabrication of a high performance acousto-optic tunable filter(AOTF) module. Specifically, we characterize and compare three $Hg_2Br_2$ powders: $Hg_2Br_2$ raw powder, $Hg_2Br_2$ powder purified under pumping conditions, and $Hg_2Br_2$ powder purified under vacuum sealing. Before and after purification, we characterize the powder samples through X-ray diffraction and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The corresponding results indicate that physical properties of the $Hg_2Br_2$ compound are not damaged even after the purification process. The impurities and concentration in the purified $Hg_2Br_2$ powder are evaluated by inductively coupled plasma-mass spectroscopy. Notably, compared to the sample purified under pumping conditions, the purification process under vacuum sealing results in a higher purity $Hg_2Br_2$ (99.999 %). In addition, when the second vacuum sealing purification process is performed, the remaining impurities are almost removed, giving rise to $Hg_2Br_2$ with ultra-high purity. This high purification process might be possible due to independent control of impurities and $Hg_2Br_2$ materials under the optimized vacuum sealing. Preparation of such a highly purified $Hg_2Br_2$ materials will pave a promising way toward a high-quality $Hg_2Br_2$ single crystal and then high performance AOTF modules.

The KASINICS (Korea Astronomy and Space science Institute Near Infrared Camera System) is a ground-based near-infrared (NIR) imaging instrument. KASINICS has offner relay optics to reduce unwanted infrared light. For the offner optics, we adopted an ultra precision machining process which is installed at KBSI (Korea Basics Science research Institute). Since the offner relay optics is made of aluminum 6061 metal material, we did several tests to reach the specification. We found that a 0.497mm radius nose bite and 220m/min machining speed are best tool and condition to make this offner optics with the precision machine. In this paper, we report the technical method of ultra precision machining and results of the KASINICS offner optics.
Monocrystalline silicon has excellent properties, but it is difficult to design and manufacture silicon-based mirrors that can meet engineering applications because of its hard and brittle properties. This paper used monocrystalline silicon as the main mirror material in an imaging system to carry out a feasibility study. The lightweight design of the mirror is completed by the method of center support and edge cutting. The support structure of the mirror was designed to meet the conditions of wide temperature applications. Isight software was used to optimize the feasibility sample, and the optimized results are that the root mean square error of the mirror surface is 3.6 nm, the rigid body displacement of the mirror is 2.1 ㎛, and the angular displacement is 2.5" under the conditions of a temperature of ∆20 ℃ and a gravity load of 1 g. The optimized result show that the silicon-based mirror developed in this paper can meet the requirements of engineering applications. This research on silicon-based mirrors can provide guidance for the application of other silicon-based mirrors.
Glass fibre reinforced polymers (GFRP) are widely exploited in many industrial branches. Due to this Structural Health Monitoring systems containing embedded fibre optics sensors are applied. One of the problems that can influence on composite element durability is water contamination that can be introduced into material structure during manufacturing. Such inclusion can be a damage origin significantly decreasing mechanical properties of an element. A non-destructive method that can be applied for inspection of an internal structure of elements is THz spectroscopy. It can be used for identifications of material discontinuities that results in changes of absorption, refractive index or scattering of propagating THz waves. The limitations of THz propagation through water makes this technique a promising solution for detection of a water inclusion. The paper presents an application of THz spectroscopy for detection and localisation of a water drop inclusion embedded in a GFRP material between two fibre optics with fibre Bragg grating sensors. The proposed filtering method allowed to determine a 3D shape of the water drop.
Third harmonic generation microscopy is described in the frame work of the theory of harmonic generation with Gaussian focused beams inside a bulk material as well as at the vicinity of an interface. This model is then applied to characterize different types of materials in terms of electronic third-order susceptibility. Examples of bulk glasses, poled glasses, laser-induced modifications in glasses and nanoparticles in solution are given in order to give a survey of the broad application field of THG microscopy in material characterization.
In this paper, V(z) curve has been analyzed theoretically and compared with the experimental result, and the relation between the V(z) curve and the material characteristic has been studied. Angular spectrum and ray optics theory have been used for theoretical analysis and the acoustic microscope operating at a center frequency of 3 MHz has been used for experiment. In experiment, it has been shown that each material has a V(z) curve of a unique form and the interval of dips appearing in the V(z) curves have been used to determine the Rayleigh wave velocity.
Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) with methacrylate endgroup is used as contact lens material with elasticity and high oxygen permeability. PDMS prepolymer with methacrylate endgroup was prepared by reacting PDMS (polydimethylsiloxane) with HEMA (2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate). The HEMA-substituted PDMS prepolymer was then copolymerized using AIBN (azobisisobutyronitrile) with BMA (butyl methacrylate; to increase elasticity and flexibility). The water content, oxygen permeability, and visible-ray transmissibility of the resulting polymer were measured to be 23%, 83% and Dk/t > 50, indicating that the copolymer can be used as a good contact lens material.
In this paper, We researched the optical performance of eye by means of the Gullstrand EYE MODEL. And we also researched the glasses that are made by designing the eye glasses corrected with the Astigmatism and the optical performance of the glasses in the optical system which are compounded with eyes. This paper can be used as a reference material in designing the glasses for ametropic correction.
