  • 본고에서는 전 세계적으로 폭발적인 증가세를 보이고 있는 이더넷 트래픽을 코어망 영역에서 보다 효율적으로 수용하기 위한 광전달망 기술과 표준화 동향에 대해서 고찰해 보고자 한다. 먼저, 현재의 광전달망에서 제공하는 주요 기술적 특징들과 발전방향에 대해 살펴보고, 이러한 기술들에 대한 국제 표준화 동향에 대해 살펴보겠다. 그리고 현재 상용화 제품으로 출시되고 있는 다양한 형태의 광전달망 시스템의 주요 특징들을 비교 검토함으로써 가까운 미래에 광전달망이 어떠한 방향으로 발전해 나갈 것인지를 유추해 보도록 하겠다.

Impacts of Hierarchy in Ethernet Ring Networks on Service Resiliency

  • In transport networks, a multi-ring architecture is very useful to facilitate network planning and to design and provide more resilient services for customers. Unlike traditional synchronous optical network multi-rings, the service resiliency of Ethernet-based multi-rings is significantly impacted by the ring hierarchy because a link or node failure in a certain level ring triggers filtering database flush actions in all higher level rings as well as in the ring with the failure, and consequently a large amount of duplicated data frames may be flooded. In this paper, we investigate how the ring hierarchy impacts the service resiliency of multi-ring networks. Based on extensive experiments on various single- and multiple-link failures, we suggest two effective inter-ring connection rules to minimize the transient traffic and to ensure more resilient multi-ring networks. In addition, we consider a flush optimization technique called e-ADV, and show that the combination of e-ADV and multi-ring structures satisfying our inter-ring connection rules results in a more attractive survivability performance.

  • This paper proposes an algorithm for design of a multiple ring network that can be applied to an arbitrary topology in the WDM optical transport networks. Especially, we suggest an integer linear program(ILP) formulation with the objective of minimizing the total cost of nodes based on the reconfigurable OADM(ROADM) architecture and propose a heuristic algorithm to reduce computational complexity of the exact problem formulation. To evaluate the performance and validity of this scheme, we applied it to an NSFnet topology assuming the dynamic or static traffic condition and compared it with a mesh methodology about capacity of connection requests and the total cost of the nodes.

  • For growing need for the multimedia application in the vehicles, the MOST protocol has been focused on. The MOST protocol supports three kinds of communication modes; short control message, asynchronous packets, and reserved synchronous stream data. Because of a variety of transportation, the MOST is suitable for various applications in vehicle environment. In this paper, we implemented embedded system which is MOST-enabled AMS platform and tested the network communication operation through the control port and the synchronous channel of the source port. We implemented the prototype platforms which communicate each other on the MOST's POF network. Moreover we implemented the DivX decoder attached AMS platform and verified the operation by transferring the video stream and the control messages through the MOST network.

A Study on Visible Light Communication with Turbo Coded OFDM for Intelligent Transport Systems (지능형 교통 시스템을 위한 Turbo Code OFDM 적용한 가시광 통신 시스템에 관한 연구)

  • In the ubiquitous age, applications of wireless personal area network (WPAN) technology using LEDs are in progress. However, visible light communications (VLC) using the LEDs have weakness which deteriorate performance of communication because of multi-path fading that occurs propagation delay by interior walls or other things in indoor environments. In this paper, orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) scheme is adapted to decrease multi-path fading and multi-path dispersion and to provide high speed data transmission. Besides, to reduce information losses caused by optical noise (incandescent lamps, fluorescent lamps, sunbeam etc.) also proposed channel coding using turbo codes. The encoding and decoding of the proposed system is described, and simulation results are analyzed. We can know that performance of proposed system is increased about 4 [dB] through the simulation results. Also, when the system take doppler effect, the system performance worsened.

  • Asynchronous Transfer Mode-Passive Optical Network(ATM-PON) Technology is one of the best solutions for implementation of broadband access network. In this paper, we propose a new Dynamic Bandwidth Allocation (DBA) algorithm for ATM-PON systems. The DBA is a key technique for data traffic management. DBA has been studied widely to allow ATM-PON to transport data traffic cost-effectively and efficiently, and currently a hot standardization issue in Full Service Access Network(FSAN) and ITU-T. The proposed DBA algorithm efficiently manages the user traffics according to their service categories. Performance of the proposed algorithm, in aspect of Cell Transfer Delay(CTD) and Cell Delay Variation(CDV), is evaluated using computer simulation.

  • In-vehicle multimedia systems are one of the most important factors in the automotive industry. Especially, multimedia systems are more important in advanced commercial vehicles such as premium express buses. In this paper, we proposed a multimedia streaming system architecture using MEP(MOST Ethernet Packets) for premium express buses based on MOST150. We have designed and implemented the prototype of proposed multimedia streaming system. We have designed a board based on i.MX6 to operate a proposed multimedia streaming system. The software has designed a multimedia system for premium express buses based on Android which is an open source platform. MOST(Media Oriented Systems Transport) is a high-speed multimedia network technology for in-vehicle multimedia system. The MOST network is able to manage up to 64 devices and ring topology is used basically. In addition, the MOST Network meets EMI(Electro-Magnetic Interference)/ EMC(Electro-Magnetic Compatibility) requirements because it uses plastic optical fibers(POF).

  • The paper describes a design process of the connection control function that performs overall procedures of optical network control system in the Next Generation - Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (NG-SDH) based transport system. Here, the NG-SDH means a new SDH technology that could perform automatic connection control with a granularity of VC-3 (about 50M) or VC-4 (about 150M) according to the increase and decrease of traffic, which is different from the existing technology that could perform connection control only with a granularity of a physical SDH link (STM-l, STM-4, STM-16, STM-64, STM-256 etc). The NG-SDH based connection control allows an ingress NG-SDH node to control the appropriate connection establishment process according to connection types such as Permanent Connection (PC), Soft Permanent Connection (SPC), Switched Connection (SC) over various SDH and Ethernet line cards.

  • This paper considers a new routing problem, successive max-min connection ratio problem (SMCRP), arised in circuit telecommunication networks such as SONET and WDM optical transport network. An optimization model for SMCRP is established based on link-flow formulation. It's first optimization process is an integral version of maximum concurrent flow problem. Integer condition does not give the same connection-ratio of each node-pair at an optimal solution any more. It is also an integral multi-commodity flow problem with fairness restriction. In order to guarantee fairness to every node-pair the minimum of connection ratios to demand is maximized. NP- hardness of SMCRP is proved and a heuristic algorithm with polynomial-time bound is developed for the problem. Augmenting path and rerouting flow are used for the algorithm. The heuristic algorithm is implemented and tested for networks of different sizes. The results are compared with those given by GAMS/OSL, a popular commercial solver for integer programming problem.n among ferrite-pearlite matrix, the increase in spheroidal ratio with increasing fatigue limitation, 90% had the highest, 14.3% increasing more then 70%, distribution range of fatigue.ife was small in same stress level. (2) $\sqrt{area}_{max}$ of graphite can be used to predict fatigue limit of Ductile Cast Iron. The Statistical distribution of extreme values of $\sqrt{area}_{max}$ may be used as a guideline for the control of inclusion size in the steelmaking.

  • Compared with other transport means, safety and timeliness are the merits of railways. Unexpectedly when accident happens, much time and human strength are required to cope with the accident. And for swift recovery, systematic rehabilitation is needed. Recently using MTS(Moving picture Transmission System), we can perform accident rehabilitation and recording work efficiently. MTS is the device that transmits continuous picture information from accident field to control center. We are developing the appropriate system to railway situation to make use of the existing information communication technology, processing technology of video-tex, super high speed transmission technology through fiber-optic, copper cable and network description of information Technology, etc. If these communication-based can technologies are applied to railway system, railway managers can control the accident by inspecting the picture of accident field and can contribute to the safe train operation and the improvement of railway management. In this paper, we investigate the connecting methods when optical fiber is used for moving picture data transmission of train accidents, and its problems. And, we validate MTS's performance through about 28km section of field test.
