In this paper we propose a QoS policy, which is based on both DSCP and SPQ, appropriate to TPS users on optical subscriber network. Then we experiment and evaluate QoS policy through the test bed which emulates real optical subscriber network. In order to perform effective and real experiment on test bed we make test traffic equivalent to 400 TPS users and give it to test bed. The experimental result shows that no packet loss in real time service traffic such as voice, IPTV occurs during more than 4 hours. We think that our proposed QoS policy is a proper method which guarantees the service quality of real time services on optical subscriber network.

The optical fiber subscriber receive communication system is multimedia home network core technology because it is providing the high-level data quality and service. Therefore, it is required to analyze and research this communication system. This paper presents the theoretical background of the optical fiber subscriber receive system for the purpose of understanding the optical communication system principle, and then explain the flow of signal process of each block divided for ASIC implementation.
PON (Passive Optical Network) is an emerging local subscriber access architecture that provides more bandwidth and services to subscriber than DSL (Digital Subscriber Line and HFC (Hybrid-Fiber Coaxial) network. A PON is a point-to-multipoint optical network with no active elements in the signals' path from source to destination. Advantages of using PON for a subscriber access network include large coverage area, reduced fiber deployment, multicast and broadcast capabilities, reduced cost of maintenance (due to devices being passive), and ease of upgrades to higher bit rate or additional wavelengths. PON uses WDM (Wavelength Division Multiplexing) technique that transmits the downstream and upstream data at each different wavelength. For transmitting the CATV (Community Antenna television) service through PON network, we give out additional wavelength. This study shows the available TPS (Triple play service) architecture using CATV overlay EPON (Ethernet PON) architecture and analyzes the effects of EPON-based CATV transmission by measuring the power loss fur each wavelength and the power range of the available analog wavelength and RF.

In this paper, various forms of technical methods as well as comparison analysis on constructing optical subscriber network were studied to find the most economical installation method in the future. Comparison analysis has been focused on the three popular types of optical subscriber networks in Korea, such as VDSL2, Ethernet-LAN and FTTH-R. A study is conducted on the initial installation investment per subscriber, equipment failure rate as well as power consumption per subscriber. As a results, FTTH-R network will be the most economical method in the future, but a gradual switch which undergoes a UTP-fiber hybrid method as the midway process is preferable in considering the existing installed copper UTP subscriber cables.
We propose the performance enhancing method optimization of an asynchronous 2.5 Gbps/1.25 Gbps optical subscriber network with inverse RZ (Return to Zero) coded downstream and NRZ (Non Return to Zero) upstream re-modulation by adjusting threshold level control of a receiver. We theoretically analyze the BER (Bit Error Rate) performance by modeling the occurrence of BER by simulation with MATLAB according to the types of downstream data. The results have shown that the normalized threshold level in an optical receiver could be saturated at 1/3 as the SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio) increases. The needed SNR for obtaining the BER $10^{-9}$ can be reduced by $\sim$5 dB by optimizing the normalized threshold level at 1/3 instead of by using the conventional receiver with threshold level of 0.5. The proposed system can be a useful technology for asynchronous optical access networks with asymmetric upstream and downstream data rates, because the improved minimum receiving power could replace a light source with a source with lower power and lower cost in an OLT (Optical Line Termination).

Ethernet Passive Optical Networks (EPON) are an emerging access network technology that provide a low-cost method of deploying optical access lines between a central office (CO) and a customer site. This paper shows that subscriber unit manages traffic data between a central office (CO) and a customer site in economic solution.
DWDM(dense wavelength division multiplexing)-PON technology is applied to subscriber network as the same as E-PON or G-PON. And its network components consist of OLT, ONU and RN. Legacy DWDM technologies have been applied on the long-haul part of optical network due to its excessive high cost. But many researchers have successfully devised a few methods which can considerably reduce the cost of equipment. Nowadays DWDM-PON equipment's has arrived to a level having a competitive price in comparison to E-PON or G-PON on condition of giving equal bandwidth. Recently a major domestic ISP has deployed DWDM-PON equipments in one apartment complex area in the purpose of satisfying ever-increasing bandwidth demand. The ISP increased data transmission capacity from 1 G to 16G without any additional fiber deployment. In this paper we introduce roughly three technologies of implementing DWDM-PON's optic module and related optic devices. And we also describe pre-test of vendor's DWDM-PON equipment and discuss the result. Lastly we propose some of network configurations which adopt DWDM-PON technology. By adopting DWDM-PON technology ISP can greatly save the cost of deploying broadband subscriber network.
We propose an asymmetrical 2.5 Gbps / 622 Mbps bidirectional optical subscriber network with Manchester coded downstream and NRZ (Non-Return-to-Zero) upstream remodulation. The proposed system has important characteristics in the optical network unit (ONU): it does not require a light source or the usual control circuits such as wavelength control and output power control, and it is possible to use a synchronization scheme between upstream and downstream data. We theoretically analyze BER(Bit Error Rate) performance of upstream data remodulated with Manchester coded downstream according to the types of NRZ downstream data and perform simulations with MATLAB. The BER performance and the receiver sensitivity have been improved by 3 dB by adjusting threshold levels compared to the conventional receiver. The results have shown the remodulation scheme with Manchester coded downstream could be a useful technology for asynchronous and asymmetric optical subscriber networks with low cost and simple structures.
In this paper, we propose ultra-fast multimedia optical subscriber access network using optical frequency domain CDMA method in order to access the multimedia with multiple data rates. We numerically analyze the effects of spectral power distortion in the light source for the optical CDMA system modified PN codes and FBG(Fiber Bragg Grating)s. In the proposed multiple-rate multimedia access optical networks, the performances such as BER(Bit Error Rate) are the same for all data regardless of data rates in the case of the same number of simultaneous ONU. In the proposed ultra-fast multimedia optical subscriber access network, the performances for all data are much more improved than those in the conventional system.
In this paper, we propose optical subscriber access network to eliminate multiple access interference using 2 dimensional(D) optical frequency and time domain CDMA method. We have numerically analyzed the characteristics of proposed system. It is seen that the excess intensity noise is the major limiting factor to the system. Also it is seen that the number of simultaneous subscribers is four times as large as the conventional ID optical system under the same bit error ratio.
