PRAM을 위한 $Ag_x(Ge_2Sb_2Te_5)_{1-x}$ (x= 0, 0.05, 0.1) 박막의 특성 (Characteristics of $Ag_x(Ge_2Sb_2Te_5)_{1-x}$ (x= 0, 0.05, 0.1) thin films for PRAM)

  • In the paper, we report several experimental data capable of evaluating the phase transformation characteristics of $Ag_x(Ge_2Sb_2Te_5)_{1-x}$ (x =0, 0.05, 0.1) thin films. The $Ag_x(Ge_2Sb_2Te_5)_{1-x}$ phase change thin films have been prepared by thermal evaporation. The crystallization characteristics of amorphous$Ag_x(Ge_2Sb_2Te_5)_{1-x}$ thin films were investigated by using nano-pulse scanner with 658 nm laser diode (power; 1~17 mW, pulse duration; 10~460 ns) and XRD measurement. It was found that the more Ag is doped, the more crystallization speed was 50 improved. In comparision with $Ge_2Sb_2Te_5$ thin film, the sheet resistance$(R_{amor})$ of the amorphous $Ag_x(Ge_2Sb_2Te_5)_{1-x}$ thin films were found to be lager than that of $Ge_2Sb_2Te_5$ film($R_{amor}$ $\sim10^7\Omega/\square$ and $R_{cryst}$ 10 $\Omega/\square$). That is, the ratio of $R_{amor}/R_{cryst}$ was evaluates to be $\sim10^6$ This is very helpful to writing current reduction of phase-change random acess memory.

연성기판위에 제작된 고효율 Red 인광 OLED의 특성평가 (Characterization of High Efficient Red Phosphorescent OLEDs Fabricated on Flexible Substrates)

  • The organic light-emitting devices(OLEDs) based on fluorescence have low efficiency due to the requirement of spin-symmetry conservation. By using the phosphorescent material, the internal quantum efficiency can reach 100$\%$, compared to 25$\%$ in case of the fluorescent material [1]. Thus recently phosphorescent OLEDs have been extensively studied and showed higher internal quantum efficiency than conventional OLEDs. In this study, we have applied a new Ir complex as a red dopant and fabricated a red phosphorescent OLED on a flexible PC(Polycarbonate) substrate. Also, we have investigated the electrical and optical properties of the devices with a structure of A1/LiF/Alq3/(RD05 doped)BAlq/NPB/2-TNAIA/ITO/PC substrate. Our device showed the lightening efficiency of > 30 cd/A at an initial brightness of 1000 cd/$m^{2}$. The CIE(Commission Internationale de L'Eclairage) coordinates for the device were (0.62,0.37) at a current density of 1 mA/$cm^{2}$. In addition, although the sheet resistance of ITO films on PC substrate is higher than that on glass substrate, the flexible OLED showed much better lightening efficiency without much increase in operating voltage.

  • IZO/Ag/IZO (IAI) anode films for flexible organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) were grown on PC (polycarbonate) substrate using DC sputter (IZO) and thermal evaporator (Ag) systems as a function of Ag thickness. To investigate electrical and optical properties of IAI stacked films, 4-point probe and UV/Vis spectrometer were used, respectively. From a IAI stacked film with 12nm-thick Ag, sheet resistance of $6.9\;{\Omega}/{\square}$ and transmittance of above 82 % at a range of 500-550 nm wavelength were obtained. In addition, structural and surface properties of IAI stacked films were analyzed by XRD (X-ray diffraction) and SEM (scanning electron microscopy), respectively. Moreover, IAI stacked films showed dramatically improved mechanical properties when subjected to bending both as a function of number of cycles to a fixed radius. Finally, OLEDs fabricated on both flexible IAI stacked anode and conventional ITO/Glass were fabricated and, J-V-L characteristics of those OLEDs were compared by Keithley 2400.

Useful and Effective Diagnosis and Evaluation Tools for Eenvironmental Change in Increased Mill Water System Closure

  • In the past, abundant and clean water was available for paper mills'use. However, the growth of population and industry made water less available nowadays. Also, environmental regulation limits wastewater discharge, which affects mill operation cost. Therefore, paper mills are under pressure to use more recycled water and mill system closure. As a result, chemical and physical parameters of water are changing and new environment if being created for microorganisms in paper mill system as well. The more soluble or suspended organic materials are increased as more water is recycled and less or scarce dissolved oxygen is available, depending on the degree of recycled water usage. Microorganism flora ill paper mill system will be a1so shifted according to the environmental change of mill system. Anaerobic bacteria, including sulfate reducing bacteria (SRB), will be dominant in the system as very low or almost no oxygen available in the system. Nevertheless, it is common in domestic paper mills that employ the same and old biocides as a means of microbial control, and microbiological control is often less recognized or even neglected. The right biocide selection for increased reductive environment of mills is critical for operation and estimated loss from paper quality defects such as sheet break, holes due to microbiological cause is tremendous compared to the microbiological control cost. It is imperative to investigate and diagnosis the environmental change of mills for right control of cumbersome microorganisms. Several useful diagnosis tools, including new technology employing OFM(Optical Fouling Monitor) in situ, are illustrated.

  • In-situ $CaCO_3$ formation onto recycled wood pulp was studied to improve optical properties and ash attachment to the fiber furnish in papermaking. We controlled initial reaction temperature of in-situ $CaCO_3$ formation method from $30^{\circ}C$ to $50^{\circ}C$. It was found that the attachment of newly formed $CaCO_3$ to recycled fibers, old newspaper (ONP) in this case, was stronger than that of ground calcium carbonate (GCC, mean dia. $2.4{\mu}m$) addition case, but was not much different among those formed at different temperature. Morphologies of newly formed $CaCO_3$ were changed according to the reaction temperature. More aragonite shape was seen at higher temperature. In-situ $CaCO_3$ formation increased brightness and lowered ERIC value of ONP sheet greatly at the same level of ash contents when compared to GCC addition method, but gave equivalent ERIC and brightness when compared to those of the precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) addition method. However, tensile strength of the handsheets of the in-situ $CaCO_3$ formation method were much greater than those of the PCC addition method.

  • In-situ $CaCO_3$ formation on recycled wood pulp was studied to improve optical property and filler attachment to the fiber furnish in papermaking. We tried to attach calcium oxide (CaO) to the recycled fibers, old newspaper (ONP) in this case, by using selected polymers before in-situ $CaCO_3$ formation reaction on fibers, and then, $CO_2$ was injected to the furnish until all the CaO on fiber surfaces was consumed. It was found that the attachment of newly formed $CaCO_3$ to recycled fibers became stronger by attaching CaO to the fibers before in-situ $CaCO_3$ formation reaction. It was expected that the polymers used for the attachment of calcium source to the fiber furnishes helped to keep the newly formed $CaCO_3$ strongly attached to the fiber surface as well as to retain the impurities associated with calcium source and recycled fibers, if any. In-situ $CaCO_3$ formation gave higher brightness and much less ERIC value in ONP sheet than the case when the equivalent amount of GCC was added to the furnish.

Synthesis of CdS with Graphene by CBD(Chemical Bath Deposition) Method and Its Photocatalytic Activity

  • Synthesis of RGO (reduced graphene oxide)-CdS composite material was performed through CBD (chemical bath deposition) method in which graphene oxide served as the support and Cadmium Sulfate Hydrate as the starting material. Graphene-based semiconductor photocatalysts have attracted extensive attention due to their usefulness for environmental and energy applications. The band gap (2.4 eV) of CdS corresponds well with the spectrum of sunlight because the crystalline phase, size, morphology, specic surface area and defects, etc., of CdS can affect its photocatalytic activity. The specific surface structure (morphology) of the photocatalyst can be effective for the suppression of recombination between photogenerated electrons and holes. Graphene (GN) has unique properties such as a high value of Young's modulus, large theoretical specific surface area, excellent thermal conductivity, high mobility of charge carriers, and good optical transmittance. These excellent properties make GN an ideal building block in nanocomposites. It can act as an excellent electron-acceptor/transport material. Therefore, the morphology, structural characterization and crystal structure were observed using various analytical tools, such as X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and Raman spectroscopy. From this analysis, it is shown that CdS particles were well dispersed uniformly in the RGO sheet. Furthermore, the photocatalytic property of the resulting RGO-CdS composite is also discussed in relation to environmental applications such as the photocatalytic degradation of pollutants. It was found that the prepared RGO-CdS nanocomposites exhibited enhanced photocatalytic activity as compared with that of CdS nanoparticles. Therefore, better efficiency of photodegradation was found for water purification applications using RGO-CdS composite.

ITO층의 두께에 따른 ITO/PET sheet의 변형거동 및 균열 형성 거동 (Influence of ITO Thickness on the Deformation and Cracking Behaviors of ITO/PET Sheets)

  • In this study, the stress-strain response and the cracking behaviors of ITO film on a PET substrate are investigated. The cracking behaviors of ITO thin films deposited on a thermoplastic semi-crystalline polymer developed for flexible display applications was investigated by means of tensile experiments equipped with an electrical measurement apparatus and an in-situ optical microscope. Electrical resistance increased gradually in the elastic-to-plastic transition region of the stress strain curves and cracks formed. Numerous cracks were found in this region, and the increase of the resistance was linked to the cracking of ITO thin films. Upon loading, the initial cracks perpendicular to the tensile axis were observed at about 1% of the total strain. They propagated to the entire sample width as the strain increased. The spacing between the horizontal cracks is thought to be determined by the fracture strength and the thickness of the ITO film as well as by the interfacial strength between the ITO and PET. The effect of the strain rate on the cracking behavior was also investigated. The crack density increased as the strain increased. The spacing between the horizontal cracks (perpendicular to the stress axis) increased as the strain rate decreased. The increase of the crack density as the strain rate decreased can be attributed to the higher fraction of the plastic strain to the total strain at a given total strain. The higher critical strain for the onset of the increase in the resistance and the crack initiation of the ITO/PET with a thinner ITO film (300 ohms/sq.) suggests a higher strength of the thinner ITO film.

투명 전극 ITO 박막의 열처리 영향과 플라즈마 응용 표시소자 제작에 관한 연구 (Optically Transparent ITO Film and the Fabrication of Plasma Signboard)

  • 본 연구에서는 2인치 ITO의 타깃으로 ITO박막을 성장시킨 후 RTA 처리로 인한 전기적, 광학적 특성의 변화를 조사하였으며, RTA 처리된 ITO 박막을 이용하여 플라즈마 응용 사인보드를 제작 및 구동하였다. RTA공정으로 열처리한 ITO는 투과도는 증가하며, 비저항은 감소함을 관찰하였으며, 투과도의 증가는 RTA로 인한 결정성의 증가로 인한 결과이고, 비저항의 감소는 결정성의 증가와 더불어 치환형 주석의 원자수가 증가하였다고 사료된다. ITO를 이용하여 사인보드 제작시 방전cell의 압력은 3-5 Torr가 적당함을 알 수 있었으며, 전극 간격을 조절하여 120 V 정도의 낮은 플라즈마 개시 전압을 갖는 플라즈마 응용 사인보드를 성공적으로 제작 할 수 있었다.

전도성 고분자 박막을 이용한 ITO 투명 전극 필름의 열성형 안정성 향상 연구 (The Enhanced Thermoforming Stability of ITO Transparent Electrode Film by Using the Conducting Polymer Thin-Film)

  • ITO 투명 전극 필름은 디스플레이, 전기 자동차 등 산업 전 범위에서 널리 사용되는 전자 재료이다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 indium tin oxide (ITO) 필름의 열성형 안정성을 향상시키기 위하여 Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) 전도성 고분자 코팅 용액 조성을 결정하였다. 1000 S/cm의 고 전도성을 보이는 PEDOT:PSS 용액에 끓는점이 각기 다른 4가지 종류의 용매를 희석하였고, 코팅 전 후 면저항 변화를 분석하였다. 또한 380~800 nm 영역의 광 투과율 분석 및 Raman 스펙트럼 분석을 통하여 PEDOT:PSS 박막이 코팅된 ITO 투명 전극의 전기적 특성 결정 메커니즘을 규명하였다. 230℃ 열성형 공정 결과 ITO 필름은 113% 연신 상태에서 이미 전기 전도성을 읽었지만, ethylene glycol을 희석 용매로 사용하여 얻어진 전도성 고분자 박막이 적용된 ITO 필름은 126% 고 연신 상태에서도 초기 60 Ω/sq 면저항을 246 Ω/sq로 유지하는 우수한 전기 전도성을 보였다.
