진공증착법으로 제조한 CdS:In 박막의 전기 및 광학적 특성 (Electrical and Optical Properties of In-doped CdS Films Prepared by Vacuum Evaporation)

  • In-doped CdS thin films have been deposited at 150$^{\circ}C$ by simultaneous thermal evaporation of CdS and In. Deposition rate and film thickness were 8A/sec and about 1um, respectively. Indium doping concentration of films varied as Indium source temperature from 500$^{\circ}C$ to 700˚. Properties of In-CdS films have been investigatied by measurements of electrical resistivity, Hall effect, X-ray diffraction and optical trasmission spectra. The conductivity of these films was always n-type. The resistivity, carrier concentration, mobility and optical band gap dependence on Indium source temperature are reported. Carrier concentration and mobility of In-CdS films increased with increasing Indium source temperature: then they decreased. The variation of the optical band gap of In-CdS thin films are related to carrier concentration.

Selenium박막의 광학적 특성연구 (A study on the optical characteristics of selenium thin film)

  • In this study, Selenium device was fabricated by vacuum evaporation method with the substrate temperature at room temperature and its electrical and optical properties were investigated to be used in optical device. The film properties largely depended on the transmittance and annealing time, and improved with aging owing to stress release. We found that the photocurrent of the films increase linearly with light illumination. As a result, Selenium device made by this method yielded a short circuit current density of 10.5mA/$\textrm{cm}^2$, an open circuit voltage of 39OmV.

  • Carbon nitride (CN) films were synthesized on silicon substrates by a combined ion-beam and laser-ablation method under various conditions; ion-beam energy and ion-beam current were varied. Raman spectroscopy and spectroscopic ellipsometry (SE) were employed to characterize respectively the structural and the optical properties of the CN films. Raman spectra show that all the CN films are amorphous independent of the ion-beam current and the ion-beam energy. Refractive indices, extinction coefficients and optical band gaps which were determined from the measured SE spectra exhibit a significant dependence on the synthesis conditions. Especially, the decrease of the refractive indices and the shrinkage of the optical band gap is noticeable as the ion-beam current and/or the ion-beam energy increase.

  • ITO films on PET substrate were prepared by DC magnetron sputtering method using powdery target with different deposition conditions. In addition, the electrical and optical properties were investigated. As the sputtering power and working pressure were higher, the resistvity of ITO films increased. The optical transmittance deteriorated with increasing sputtering power and thickness. As the working pressure increased, however, the optical transmittance improved at visible region of light. From these results, we could deposited ITO films with $8{\times}10^{-3}\;{\Omega}-cm$ of resistivity and 80% of transmittance at optimal conditions.

  • Eosin을 첨가한 boric acid 유리질 포화흡수체의 포화세기는 비교적 낮은 것으로(약 700 mW/$\textrm{cm}^2$) 측정되었고, 세기가 낮은 경우에서도 축퇴4광파혼합에 의해 광학적 위상공액파를 발생시킬 수 있었다. 파장이 488nm인 Ar-ion laser를 사용하여 이 매질에서 DFWM에 의한 위상공액파의 편광특성을 보였고, 위상공액 반사율의 빛의 세기와 파장에 대한 의존성을 측정하였다. 이 매질에서 비축퇴2광파혼합에 의한 에너지 교환은 두 광속의 주파수차가 약 100 Hz 정도인 경우에 최대가 되었다.

  • $ZnS/Na_3AlF_6$ multi-layer thin film were produced by evaporation system. ZnS were selected as a high refractive index material and $Na_3AlF_6$ were selected as low refractive index material. Optical properties including color effect were systematically studied in terms of different optical thickness by spectrophotometer. In oder to compare with experimental data, the Essential Macleod Program(EMP) was adopted that simulation program. The thin film consisting of $ZnS/Na_3AlF_6$ multi-layer show the wave length of $530{\sim}600nm$, typically color range between purple, blue, green. It was confirmed that this experimental result was well matched with simulation data.

Polypyrrole Film Studied by Three-Parameter Ellipsometry

  • Growth and changes of electronically conducting polypyrrole (PPy) in the form of thin films polymerized on metal electrodes were investigated by electrochemical and in situ three-parameter ellipsometry methods at the wavelength of 632.8 nm. Although the optical equations produced multiple sets of solution, it was possible to determine a unique set of thickness and the optical constants of a film by auxiliary measurements and/or physical reasoning. The changes in the thickness and the optical properties of the polymers during polymerization and electrochemical oxidation/reduction was successfully followed by the three-parameter ellipsometric technique. The optical properties of the polymers continuously changed as the film grew. The imaginary part of the refractive index of polypyrrole seemed to be dominantly determined by the existence of an absorption band around the visible range.

  • Electro-active polymers and dielectric elastomers have many intriguing properties that enable smart interfaces and electrically tunable optical systems, such as haptic feedback devices, artificial muscles, and expansion-tunable optical elements. These device classes are of great interest owing to their promising roles in next-generation technologies including virtual or augmented reality, human sensing and muscular enhancement, and artificial skins. In this report, we review basic principles, current state-of-the-art techniques, and future prospects of electro-active and dielectric elastomer technology. We describe chemical and physical properties of the most promising polymer substances, essential elementary architectures for artificial muscle-like functionalities, and their applications to haptic interfaces, muscular enhancement, and focus-tunable optical elements.

Angles-Only Initial Orbit Determination of Low Earth Orbit (LEO) Satellites Using Real Observational Data

  • The Optical Wide-field patroL-Network (OWL-Net) is a Korean optical space surveillance system used to track and monitor objects in space. In this study, the characteristics of four Initial Orbit Determination (IOD) methods were analyzed using artificial observational data from Low Earth Orbit satellites, and an appropriate IOD method was selected for use as the initial value of Precise Orbit Determination using OWL-Net data. Various simulations were performed according to the properties of observational data, such as noise level and observational time interval, to confirm the characteristics of the IOD methods. The IOD results produced via the OWL-Net observational data were then compared with Two Line Elements data to verify the accuracy of each IOD method. This paper, thus, suggests the best method for IOD, according to the properties of angles-only data, for use even when the ephemeris of a satellite is unknown.

동북아시아 지역에서 황사의 중장거리 이동에 따른 광학적 특성 변화 분석 (Characterization of Optical Properties of Long-range Transported Asian Dust in NorthEast Asia)

  • 본 연구는 인공위성과 지상 원격탐사 자료를 이용하여 동북아 지역에서 발생하는 황사현상의 중장거리 이동에 따른 광학적 특성 변화를 분석하였다. 동북아시아 지역의 Aerosol Robotic Network(AERONET)의 선포토미터 관측 지점 중에 황사의 발원지로 Dunhuang과 Inner-Mongolia, 발원지에 근접한 풍하측 지점으로 Yulin과 Beijing, 그리고 장거리 이동 지점으로 한국의 Anmyon과 Gosan, 일본의 Noto, 이렇게 7곳을 선정하여 자료를 분석하였다. 황사의 발생 및 이동 경로를 파악하기 위하여 자외선 원격탐사 기법을 사용하는 인공위성인 Ozone Monitoring Instrument(OMI) 관측자료를 활용하였다. 발원지에서의 단산란알베도는 440 nm에서 0.90에서 0.96 사이의 값으로 높았으나 풍하측이나 장거리 이동 지역에서는 그 값이 감소하였다. 또한, 파장에 따른 단산란알베도 값의 차이는 발원지에서는 높게 나타났으나 이동된 지역에서는 그 차이가 감소하였다. 이러한 장거리 이동에 따른 황사의 광흡수 특성의 변화는 이동 중 탄소입자와 같은 대기 오염물질과의 혼합으로부터 기인하는 것으로 판단된다.
