광 가입자망의 구축 방식별 경제성 연구 (A Study on the Economical Installation Method of Fiber Optical Subscriber Network)

  • 본 논문에서는 광 가입자망 구성의 여러 형태에 대하여 알아보고, 경제성을 비교분석하여, 어떤 방식의 망 구축이 미래의 광가입자 망으로 가장 경제적인지를 고찰 하였다. 비교분석은 현재 우리나라에서 사용 중인 VDSL2, Ethernet-LAN 그리고 FTTH-R 방식의 세 가지 형태 광 가입자망을 대상으로 하였으며, 각 각의 구성 방식별 회선당 초기투자 비용과 운용 비용 중에서 회선당 고장율 및 소비 전력을 비교분석 하였다. 분석 결과 FTTH-R망이 가장 경제적이었으나 기존에 포설된 동선 가입자망을 고려할 경우 댁내까지 완전한 광케이블 포설로 변환하는 과정의 중간 단계로 동선인 UTP 선로와 혼합하여 사용하는 방식의 중간 단계를 거치는 점진적인 전환이 효율적일 것으로 판단된다.

FTTH-PON 가입자망 설계에서 Splitter Location-Allocation 문제 (A Splitter Location-Allocation Problem in Designing FTTH-PON Access Networks)

  • In this paper, we deal with an access network design problem of fiber-to-the-home passive optical network (FTTH-PON). The FTTH-PON network design problem seeks to minimize the total cost of optical splitters and cables that provide optical connectivity between central office and subscribers. We develop a flow-based mixed integer programming (MIP) model with nonlinear link cost. By developing valid inequalities and preprocessing rules, we enhance the strength of the proposed MIP model in generating tight lower bounds for the problem. We develop an effective Tabu Search (TS) heuristic algorithm that provides good quality feasible solutions to the problem. Computational results demonstrate that the valid inequalities and preprocessing rules are effective for improving the LP-relaxation lower bound and TS algorithm finds good quality solutions within reasonable time bounds.

옥내통신선과 전선간 이격거리 기술기준 개선 방안 연구 (Study on the Improvement of Technical Regulation for the Separation Distance between Indoor Telecommunication Lines and Power Lines)

  • 통신선로설비 기술기준 제23조에서는 옥내통신선과 전선간 이격거리 기준을 제시하고 있으며 몇 가지 조건에 해당하는 경우에 한하여 예외 규정을 마련하고 있다. 하지만 동 기술기준의 제32조에서는 옥내통신선으로서 케이블 형태를 갖는 꼬임케이블, 광섬유케이블을 사용하도록 규정하고 있고 이는 이격거리 기준의 예외 조건과 상충하는 문제점을 갖고 있다. 또한 이격거리 기준의 예외 조건 중 최대 15.4W의 PoE 공급 전력 기준을 최대 30W로 확대해야 할 필요성이 제기되고 있는 실정이다. 이에 본 논문에서는 국내외 관련 기술기준 및 표준 규격을 분석하여 보다 합리적인 옥내통신선과 전선간 이격거리 기술기준의 개선 방안을 제시하고자 한다.

  • The data rate for transmission through fiber-optic cables has increased to 400 Gbps in single-wavelength channels. However, speeds up to 1 Tbps are required now to meet the ever-increasing bandwidth demand driven by the diverse requirements of contemporary applications for high-quality on-demand video streaming, cloud services, various social media, and emerging 5G-enabled applications. Because the data rates of the per-channel optical interfaces depend strongly on the operational speed of the optoelectronic devices used in optical transceivers, ultrahigh-speed photonic devices and components, and eventually, chip-level transmitter and receiver technologies, are essentially required to realize futuristic optical transceivers with data rates of 1 Tbps and beyond. In this paper, we review the recent progress achieved in high-speed optoelectronic devices, such as laser diodes, optical modulators, photodiodes, and the transmitter-receiver optical subassembly for optical transceivers in data centers and in metro/long-haul transmission.

BOTDA based water-filling and preloading test of spiral case structure

  • In the water-filling and preloading test, the sensing cables were installed on the surface of steel spiral case and in the surrounding concrete to monitor the strain distribution of several cross-sections by using Brillouin Optical Time Domain Analysis (BOTDA), a kind of distributed optical fiber sensing (DOFS) technology. The average hoop strain of the spiral case was about $330{\mu}{\varepsilon}$ and $590{\mu}{\varepsilon}$ when the water-filling pressure in the spiral case was 2.6 MPa and 4.1 MPa. The difference between the measured and the calculated strain was only about $50{\mu}{\varepsilon}$. It was the first time that the stress adjustment of the spiral case was monitored by the sensing cable when the pressure was increased to 1 MPa and the residual strain of $20{\mu}{\varepsilon}$ was obtained after preloading. Meanwhile, the shrinkage of $70{\sim}100{\mu}{\varepsilon}$ of the surrounding concrete was effectively monitored during the depressurization. It is estimated that the width of the gap between the steel spiral case and the surrounding concrete was 0.51 ~ 0.75 mm. BOTDA based distributed optical fiber sensing technology can obtain continuous strain of the structure and it is more reliable than traditional point sensor. The strain distribution obtained by BOTDA provides strong support for the design and optimization of the spiral case structure.

반사필터를 이용한 광선로 원격감시 시스템 (Optical Line Remote-Monitoring System Using Reflecting Filter)

  • 본 논문은 반사필터를 사용하여 FTTH-PON의 원격제어 시스템을 다루고 있다. 기존의 FTTH-PON방식은 광케이블 고장과 수동분기소자(Splitter)의 품질 저하가 발생하는 것을 실시간 인지 할 수 없다. 본 연구에서는 이를 해결하기 위해서 광섬유 브래그 격자 원리를 이용한 반사필터를 개발하여 간선망과 Splitter를 감시 할 수 있게 하였다. 반사필터는 광케이블 밴딩, 커넥터 상태와 스플리터의 품질이 점진적으로 저하되는 것을 모니터링 하고 광케이블 고장, 수동 광분배기(Splitter) 등의 고장 위치를 확인하여 OLT측에 경보를 보내서 중앙관제에서 감시할 수 있는 시스템이다. 즉, 기존 통신 국사 측 파장분기 결합부(Coupler)를 이용해 1개의 광심선으로 live 파장과 감시용 파장을 2개로 보내어 가입자 측 장치인 모뎀과 집선 스위치에 반사필터를 사용하여 원격으로 광선로를 감시하는 시스템에 관한 연구이다. 이러한 반사필터의 개발로 인해 광선로 평균 고장처리 시간 단축과 효율적 유지보수를 할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

  • FTTH (Fiber to the Home) is constructed with optical devices and optical cables from central office (CO) to subscribers. With FTTH, it is possible to provide service platform in order to meet the customers' emerging demands for more bandwidth/security and diverse IP multimedia applications including high definition (HD) video streaming service. FTTH can provide enough bandwidth from 100Mbps to several Gbps per subscriber. It is also most appropriate network architecture for convergence of communication and broadcasting. So, FTTH is thought the final destination of telecom operators, since it is the fastest and most reliable solution so far and various IP multimedia services are possible through it. In this paper, newly attempted technologies of FTTH construction for apartment complexes using CWDM-PON system are discussed.

  • In this paper, we deal with a mesh network design problem arising from the deployment of WDM for the optical internet. The mesh network consists of mesh topology for satisfying traffic demand while minimizing the cost of WDM, OXC, and fiber cables. The problem seeks to find an optimal routing of traffic demands in the network such that the total cost is minimized. We formulate the problem as a mixed-integer programming model and devise a tabu search heuristic procedure. Also we develop an optical internet design system that implements the proposed tabu search heuristic procedure. We demonstrate the computational efficacy of the proposed algorithm, compared with CPLEX 8.0.

  • In recent years, fiberoptic technology is becoming indispensable in establishing communication networks due to its low loss, high capacity and non-inductive properties. In the power industry as well, the technology is being required to cable and facility monitering, and control system. But, duct in the manhole and space in the culvert are required to fiberoptic cable that is separated from power cable. Therefore, some cable makers and R&D has been studying the composite fiber/power cables. This report introduces the outline of ABF system, construction and properties of optical composite power cable that used ABF technology.

  • For improving the power supply reliability and minimizing maintenance work of E.H.V. underground transmission line, new surveillance systems are strongly desired for use in the field of electric power transmission. For underground installation, high system reliability is required because E.H.V. cables, if an accident happen, can have a serious impact on social activities and human life. In answer to this requirement, applications of optical fiber transmission system have been widely developed in a variety of field. The main function of this system are cable fault location, oil leak detection, and surveillance of the cable circuit and tunnel condition.
