  • The ADS-B test is a program that is examining the use of ADS-B, especially CDTI for aircraft surveillance in Korea. The ADS-B project is to provide operational benefits to Air Traffic Controllers in the selected area and provide first operational experience of ADS-B in ATCS environment of South Korea. For these objectives, the ground station has installed in Tae-An airport, Participation in the Ground Test has been limited to 4 Aircraft of Hanseo University which are installed ADS-B equipment. Ground test is a test that is examining on the movement area of Tae-An Airport on the assumption that the visibility is below weather minia of the airport. This test have been experimented as pre-arranged scenarios. In view of the results achieved, it has shown that the volume of voice communication between controller and pilot are remarkably reduced. Additionally, as both pilots and air traffic controllers are able to see the positions of traffic in the vicinity of the aircraft, the test has demonstrated that it is possible for ADS-B not only to decline the controller's workload, but also to enhance pilot situational awareness in the near future.

  • This research topic evaluates the effectiveness and importance of environmental protection in the 21st century in light of the increasing demand on the earth's natural resources and the pressures on economic and industrial development to provide dynamic power. As the world and our fellow citizens become more conscious of environmental protection, companies are under greater pressure whilst pursuing economic growth. Therefore, domestic manufacturers have been devoting efforts to promote environmental management. This research conducts survey using questionnaires on the operational performance of the manufacturers who have ISO 14000 series accreditation and certification. The survey considers five dimensions/functions within a manufacturer, financial management, human resources management, production management, and marketing management. A total of 35 indices are used for analysis of the effects that the location, history, industry, number of employees, amount of capital, and revenue may have on the performance. This research targets the manufacturers approved of ISO 14000 series certification by Environment Administration Association. The statistical methods deployed are descriptive statistics, T-test, and single factor analysis of variance used for analysis. The conclusions reveal that a certain level of performance has been achieved in every dimension. After T-test, all the indices have reached a significant level. The indications are that ISO 14001 benefits all manufacturers the level of benefits however varies from company to company.

  • In this study, based on the System Dynamics (SD) methodology, the interrelationship between the factors inherent in the operation of the New Technology Certification System (NTCS) in Korea was identified by a causal map containing a feedback loop mechanism in connection with 'new technology development investment', 'commercialization of new technology', and 'sales by new technology'. This conceptualized causal map was applied to the simulation of the operations of the New Excellent Technology and Environmental Technology Verification System (NET&ETV) run by the Ministry of Environment among various NTCSs in Korea. A SD computer simulation model was developed to analyze and predict the operational performance of the NET&ETV in terms of key performance indices such as 'sales by new technology'. Using this model, we predicted the future operational status the NET&ETV and found a policy leverage that greatly influences the operation of the NET&ETV. Also the sensitivity of the key indicators to changes in the external variables in the model was analyzed to find policy leverage.

  • The environment and requirements of modern war fields have been affected and thus changed by a variety of issues. To this end, the development of safety-critical weapon systems frequently need to meet those changes even in the operational phase. The necessity of the changes may be due to the preparation for mass-production or the request originated from the user military forces. To meet such a need can be even tougher in the development of safety-critical weapon systems since the integration of the requirements for both systems design and systems safety would make it troublesome. To handel the matter in this paper, utilization of architecture DB is proposed. Specifically, the situation in demand has first been analyzed and then a problem-solving process to accommodate the design changes has been constructed. In doing so, the concept of the aforementioned integration is particularly focused on the functional architecture, which could be a core concept of our approach to solving the problem. The result of a case study demonstrating the method studied using a computer-aided systems engineering tool is also presented.

  • This paper focuses on the reverse blocking busbar protection scheme with aim to improve the speed of its operation and at the same time to increase operational reliability, flexibility and stability of the protection during external and internal faults by implementation of the extended functionality provided by the IEC61850 standard-based protective Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs). The practical implementation of the scheme by the use of IEC 61850 standard communication protocol is investigated. The proposed scheme is designed for a radial type of a distribution network and is modeled and simulated in the DigSILENT software environment for various faults on the busbar and its outgoing feeders. A laboratory test bench is built using three ABB IEDs 670 series that are compliant with the IEC 61850 standard, CMC 356 Omicron test injection device, PC, MOXA switch, and a DC power supplier. Two types of the reverse blocking signals between the IEDs in the test bench are considered: hard wired and Ethernet communication by using IEC 61850 standard GOOSE messages. Comparative experimental study of the operational trip response speeds of the two implementations for various traffic conditions of the communication network shows that the performance of the protection scheme for the case of Ethernet IEC 61850 standard-based communication is better.

  • In this paper, a command and control (C2) system development using a network emulator is treated. Due to the development of information and communication technologies enabling reinforcement of information exchange and computational capability, an operational concept network centric warfare (NCW) was introduced. In here, it summarizes a developmental test environment build based on dummynet, one of the software based network emulator, and an operational concept of target command and control system. Moreover, I explain command and control system developmental test cases and results, and suggest an operational concept to overcome limitations of target communication system. I expect this concept will reduce data traffic of proposed C2 system especially plot messages which is distributed same data with short interval.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the operational status and operational problems of health promoting model schools, particularly of the large-sized elementary schools in urban areas. Methods: The study analyzed the data of 14 large-sized elementary schools in urban areas selected from 85 health promoting model schools, an initiative led by the Ministry of Education from 2012 to 2014. Results: The study examined the operation process of health promoting schools in five stages; system development, needs survey & current status survey, school health policy development, program development & execution, and evaluation. In addition, the study discovered three key factors in operating health promoting schools and examined the status of each factor; connection with the curriculum, connection with the community, and consensus among members. Four problems were identified as operational problems: lack of research on faculty health issues, school physical environment and community resources, inadequate presentation of performance indicators, no close coordination in core task development and lack of linkage with the curriculum. Conclusion: It turned out the concept of health promoting school suggested by WHO was relatively faithfully realized in this study. Compared to small-sized elementary schools in rural areas, health promoting schools in this study showed better aspects overall. The connection with the community was good, but the connection with the curriculum was poor.

  • Recently, the rapid development of drones is increasing as a variety of threats to important facilities of the country. In order to build an anti-drone system that responds to drones with high technical characteristics, standardization is required in terms of operation, system, and technology. By applying the defense architecture framework, it contributes to the establishment of the optimal system by proposing a standardization plan for the operational and system perspectives of the anti-drone system by creating outputs equivalent to the stage of prior research on weapons systems. It is a prerequisite for building a drone system the operational concept of the anti-drone system, the definition of the drone threat, the function of each component, the interface, the definition of data flow, the system performance and effect scale, etc. Management, security officers, and equipment manufacturers of important national and public facilities on site expect that it will be used as an objective standard at the government level for the component technology of the equipment to respond to the drone threat and the performance required in the environment.
