녹색 신교통 시스템 바이모달트램의 수송수요 및 운행속도별 운영비용 분포특성 분석 (The Analysis of Distribution Characteristic on the Operation Cost for Respective Transport Volume and Travel Speed of New Transit System Bi-Modal Tram)

  • The status and effectiveness of Bi-modal Tram is analyzed through the comparison of the transport effectiveness and operation cost between the public transportation systems (bus, light rail transit) considering the vehicle and operation characteristic of new transit system Bi-modal Tram. The standard operation schedule is established in consideration of the vehicle specification and operation characteristic of main public transportation modes, and then the annual average operation cost is estimated depending on the volume, speed, analysis length for respective public transportation mode. Through analyzing the operation cost and distribution characteristic of public transportation modes depending on the transport volume and travel speed, the operational efficiency suitable for the city is derived. It is concluded that the operational efficiency of Bi-modal Tram is superior to that of the bus and light rail transit on the aspect of travel volume and operation speed.

버스운행관리 및 수송전략에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Bus Operation Management and Transport Strategy)

  • The bus should supply an equal service to the whole community as feeder trip. However the existing bus route can not supply an effective feeder service in spite of the changes in the latent demand by the variety of regional structural change. This study aimed to establish the concept which frames the bus operation and management to cope with the latent demand to the bus. This study tackled this evidence by analyzing the transportation problems in terms of the urban growth emphasizing the following issues ; First, the strategy to improve the bus operation Second the land use control appropriate for the public transportation network Third economical range to justify the bus operation Second, the land use control appropriate for the public transportation network Third, economical range to justify the bus operation Fourth, the allowance for the private transportation mode On the latter part, the difference on the bus operation was compared to determine the range within which the bus operation could be justified. This study would provide some implications to improve the management for bus operation and fundamental information to develop the bus operation system.

  • Bimodal Tram is the newly developed vehicle for both the tracked way and the public road. Its operation system has some characteristics including BIS(bus information system)/BMS(bus management system) based on ITS(intelligent Transportation system) which is used presently in public transportation operation system. One of them is more accurate vehicle fleet control based on both magnetic maker position reference system and GPS(global positioning system) and the other is automatic vehicle control for emergency situations by the Bimodal Tram operation system which will be performed by the unified control and operation center. This paper has investigated the requirements and functional definitions necessary to construct the unified control and operation center for Bimodal Tram operation system which will be more efficient and secure public transportation system than the conventional ones.

  • We studied the cost-volume supply characteristic of public transportation systems focused on Bi-modal Tram in the main cities to analyze the applicability and status for the new transit system Bi-modal Tram as public transportation system. The operation cost considering the characteristic of vehicle, facilities, operation and average cost for respective public transportation system and the time cost considering the travel and transfer time are defined to the social cost, and the cost-volume supply curve is based on this social cost. The cost-volume supply characteristic between public transportation modes in the city is determined on the basis of cost-volume supply curve. Through the comparison between cost-volume supply characteristic of main transportation systems, it is analyzed about the relation between public transportation systems in the city and the characteristic for proper service provision. The application of Bi-modal Tram in the city is concluded that it is effective to reduce the social cost on the existing public transportation system.

  • The public transportation in operation or to be planned domestically includes subway, LRT, bimodal tram and bus, which are independently characterized in their passenger capacity and cost. High quality service is generally accompanied by high cost of construction and operation. Thus, ITS, BIS/BMS and BRT system are recently introduced to provide high quality service to the passengers with the cost as low as possible. The bimodal tram is under development to achieve such goals in public transportation. The passenger capacity is approximately expected to be 10,000$\sim$17,000 persons/hour and the construction cost to be 10$\sim$30 million dollars/km. It is possible to construct the infrastructure gradually depending on the demand of transportation in the planned route, which can effectively reduce the initial cost to launch the service. The bimodal tram is developed to provide the advantages of subway and bus to the passengers with respect to the scheduled operation and flexibility of the lines.

  • Due to the traffic congestion of the city and public transportation-oriented policies, public transportation is receiving more attention and being used increasingly However, relatively less research on the design and distribution of public transportation network and limitations in quantitative approaches have made implementation and operation practically difficult. Over- or under-supply of transportation routes caused unbalanced connectivity among areas and differences in time, expenses and metal burden of users. On the other hand, the Space Syntax theory, designed to calculate the connectivity of urban or architectural space, helps generate quantitative connectivity of whole space simply based on the spacial structure. This study modified the original Space Syntax algorithm to fit the public transportation problem and showed how it is appied to a network by creating an artificial network using the GIS.

Investigating the Factors on Public Transportation System for Citizen Relationship and Sustainability

  • Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to investigate key factors that affect customer dissatisfaction on public transportation system by highlighting the necessity of citizen participation and improved management of advanced technology for sustainability. Research questions applied in this study include following; i) how are factors on dissatisfaction related to types of transportation modes; ii) how do perceived proposed factors affect citizen dissatisfaction; iii) how do the improvement of public transportation service affect the level of expected satisfaction; and iv) how do expected satisfaction affect policy agreement and government trust. Research design, data and methodology: For qualitative research, civil opinions were collected and chi-square analysis was applied using keywords. For quantitative research, online survey was collected and factor and multiple regression analyses were applied. 3) Results: This study found that efficiency of operation system and safety on dissatisfaction showed significant in all three public transportation modes. This study found that perception of government policy and trust on government will increase as expected satisfaction increases. Conclusions: This study provides managerial and policy implications on society and policy makers by addressing necessity of improving strategies for public transportation system with the consideration of citizen relationship management and sustainable development.

철도 여객과 화물수송의 분리운영에 관한 소고 (A Study on the management method to increase operation efficiency for Passenger and Freight Railroad Transportation)

  • Korean railroad has been accomplished the structural change through separating of facilities and operation of railroad in 2004. The existent government organization was transformed into the public, this caused problem of renovation of railroad management. Korean railroad has been the integrated management of passenger and freight. As putting the passenger service as a priority, freight transportation have fallen behind and not attained good sales results. Restructuring in Korean railroad would bring about considerable improvement, but still not come out of the deficit operation. To find a way out of this situation, there needs to make renovation and extend new enterprise. However, to operate the railway freight transportation more competitively, make up situation that can possess competitive power fundamentally. From this perspective, the purpose of this study is to analyze the necessity for separated operation of passenger and freight railway transportation. By doing this can expect to obtain the competition power of railway freight transportation, and is a help to build up the independent management system of railway freight transportation and secure competitive high position about other transportation systems especially road.

  • 대도시의 도심 정체나 대중교통 장려책과 같은 요소로 인해 대중교통에 대한 관심과 이용도가 증가하고 있다. 그러나 노선의 설계나 배분에 관한 연구가 미흡하고 적절한 정량적인 방법론이 구축되어 있지 않기 때문에 설계, 운영에 어려움을 겪고 있다. 노선의 공급과잉이나 공급부족으로 인해 접근성이 지역간에 편중되어 나타나며, 도시 각 구역의 정류장은 다른 지역으로 이동하는 시간과 비용, 심적 부담에 있어 큰 편차를 보이고 있다. 한편, Space Syntax 이론은 도시공간이나 건축공간의 접근성을 공간의 기하학적인 연결구조에 기반하여 정량적으로 산출하는데 사용되는 이론이다. 본 연구는 Space Syntax 이론을 대중교통 문제에 효과적으로 적용하기 위해 알고리즘을 수정하였으며, GIS를 이용하여 간략한 가상의 네트워크를 구축한 후 이를 적용하는 과정을 예시하였다.

  • 본 연구는 교통기본법(안)에 명시된 대중교통 사각지대 설정과 평가를 위한 3가지 평가척도를 제시하였다. 평가척도는 행정동 단위의 대중교통 노선 및 운행실태에 대한 기초 DB를 적용하여 대중교통 서비스권역, 대중교통 배차간격, 1일 총 운행시간을 각각 A-F(6등급)으로 구분하였다. 대중교통 사각지대 평가척도는 정부 및 지자체에서 대중교통 서비스 낙후지역의 최저 대중교통 공급 및 연계노선 계획, 최저배차계획, 1일 대중교통 총 운행시간 계획에 기준으로 활용할 수 있을 것이다.
