그리드 정보 서비스를 위한 분산 디렉토리 시스템의 성능분석 (Performance Analysis of Distributed Directory System for Grid Information Service)

  • 최근들어 국내외적으로 그리드에 대한 다양한 연구가 이루어지고 그리드 킬퓨팅 기술에 대한 상용화의 추세가 보이면서 그리드 시스템에 참여하는 엔티티의 수가 날로 증가하고 있다. 따라서 Globus에 기반한 그리드 환경에서의 기존의 LDAP 시스템은 늘어나는 부하를 처리하기에는 충분하지 못하게 되었고 제공할 수 있는 성능의 한계를 초과하고 있다. 이를 위여 고성능 그리드 환경에 부합되는 새로운 LDAP 시스템의 설계가 필수적이고 이를 위해서는 기존 LDAP 시스템에 대한 성능분석이 우선시 되어야 한다. 하지만 기존의 대부분의 연구는 읽기 동작이 대부분을 차지하는 기존의 응용들을 위한 성능향상에 목적을 두고 있어서 쓰기 동작이 대부분을 차지하는 그리드 환경에 적용하기에는 부적합하다. 본 논문에서는 기존 분산 디렉토리 시스템의 성능분석의 결과를 제시하며 이를 위하여 M/M/1 큐잉모델을 기초로 기존 분산 디렉토리 시스템에 대한 분석모델을 도출하고, 이 분석모델을 통한 성능분석의 결과를 제시한다. 본 논문의 목표는 이러한 성능분석의 결과를 바탕으로 고성능 그리드 환경에 부합되는 새로운 LDAP 시스템의 설계방향을 제시하고자 한다. 또한 이러한 결과들은 고성능 그리드 환경에서 LDAP 기반의 GIS 시스템의 설계에 기초자료 활용할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

  • The performance prediction of SMART MCP was performed using a computational fluid dynamics code. General capacity-head performance curve of MCP, which is provided to other design branches as design input, was obtained and it showed the typical type of axial pump performance curve. When four MCPs operate in parallel and one of them stops while the others continue to operate, SMART requires reduced power operation. A procedure for predicting the performance of SMART MCP for that case was developed and verified with available experimental data. An analysis based on the developed procedure was performed for two cases; the impeller of sloped MCP is fixed or free to rotate in reverse direction. According to the results, $73\%$ flow rate of normal operation enters the reactor core in the case of the locked impeller. In case of the impeller free rotation, the flow rate entering the reactor core is $62.8\%$.

  • A multi-train operation simulation software is under development, in this G7 Project for a High Speed Train System, to simulate the running performance, power consumption, signalling and operation. In the first stage, a Train Performance Simulation (TPS) software is introduced in this paper. This is a core module of whole system and gives some parameters of a train, e.g., its position, speed traction and braking power and electric power system state, etc. In this paper, calculation technique was used for voltage drop at the train's positions and major posts along the catenary line. The final program will be used as an evaluation tool for system performance in constructing a new line or introducing a new train system.

  • Recently study on components for a electric golf car and a utility car driven by a electric motor has been performed actively, and the study on a drive motor, a inverter and a battery focuses on a small, light weight and high power density source to improve fuel efficiency using limited electric energy. Especially, since a utility car such as a golf car performance depends on initial acceleration and maximum speed capability, a drive system requires high power and large and wide operation area, This study therefore investigates on the interior permanent magnet synchronous motor with high power density and wide operation, and is verified with the test result after design and characteristic analysis is performed

  • This paper presents some useful design criteria for the turbine cogeneration system through both the design and off-design analysis. Comparative analysis of the part load performance is carried out for several gas turbines which have different design parameters represented by the turbine inlet temperature and pressure ratio. It is shown that the variation in part load efficiency considerably depends on the design parameter. The off-design operation of the heat recovery steam generator is simulated by introducing adequate assumptions for the heat transfer process. It is turned out that the design parameters of heat recovery steam generator should be determined by considering the favorable operation at the off-design conditions.

  • Dynamic behavior of Libr-water absorption system using low-temperature hot water was investigated numerically. Thermal-hydraulic model of single-effect/double-lift 100 RT chiller was developed by applying transient conservation equations of total mass, Libr mass, energy and momentum to each component. Transient variations of system properties and transport variables were analysed during start-up operation. Numerical analysis were performed to quantify the effects of bulk concentration and part-load operation on the system performance in terms of cooling capacity, coefficient of performance, and time constant of system. For an absorption chiller considered in the present study, optimum bulk concentration was found to exist, which resulted in the minimum time constant with stable cooling capacity. COP and time constant increased as the load decreased down to 40%, below which the time constant increased abruptly and COP decreased as the load decreased further.

SPCBC: A Secure Parallel Cipher Block Chaining Mode of Operation based on logistic Chaotic Map

  • Several block cipher modes of operation have been proposed in the literature to protect sensitive information. However, different security analysis models have been presented for attacking them. The analysis indicated that most of the current modes of operation are vulnerable to several attacks such as known plaintext and chosen plaintext/cipher-text attacks. Therefore, this paper proposes a secure block cipher mode of operation to thwart such attacks. In general, the proposed mode combines one-time chain keys with each plaintext before its encryption. The challenge of the proposed mode is the generation of the chain keys. The proposed mode employs the logistic map together with a nonce to dynamically generate a unique set of chain keys for every plaintext. Utilizing the logistic map assures the dynamic behavior while employing the nonce guarantees the uniqueness of the chain keys even if the same message is encrypted again. In this way, the proposed mode called SPCBC can resist the most powerful attacks including the known plaintext and chosen plaintext/cipher-text attacks. In addition, the SPCBC mode improves encryption time performance through supporting parallelized implementation. Finally, the security analysis and experimental results demonstrate that the proposed mode is robust compared to the current modes of operation.

가스터빈의 설계 성능과 부분부하 성능 사이의 상관관계 분석 (Analysis of Relationship Between Design and Part Load Performance of Gas Turbines)

  • This study analyzed the dependence of part load performance of simple cycle gas turbines on their design performance. Various parametric calculations were carried out to examine effects of design temperature ratio, pressure ratio and component efficiencies using a simplified analysis. In addition, a more practical analysis was done for realistic design conditions with the aid of a comprehensive performance analysis program. The results show that gas turbines with higher design performance exhibit less efficiency degradation during part load operation. The influence of power control method (fuel only centre) and air flow control) on part load performance was examined as well.

  • Recently, the affiliates of the Ministry of Information and Communication have been conducting a performance evaluation study on IT policy projects, based on the performance evaluation model of the U.S. Office of Management and Budgets, with regard to investment in computerization. The performance evaluation model for the policy project could provide the objective information required for the planning, development, and operation of the policy project. However, the performance of the most policy project is likely to be evaluated using the subjective evaluation criteria of evaluators. Therefore, this case study evaluates the relative efficiency using DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis) in order to improve the performance evaluation method of the digital pioneer' project implemented by the Korea IT Industry Promotion Agency. The improvement value of inefficient Decision Making Units (DMUs) was measured by a static efficiency analysis. The measured value will suggest a objective viewpoint of the performance between DMUs to evaluators. In doing so, it will show an appropriate direction for the policy project to be evaluated successfully.
