Assessment of Probabilistic Total Transfer Capability Considering Uncertainty of Weather (불확실한 날씨 상태를 고려한 확률론적 방법의 총 송전용량 평가)

  • This paper proposes a method to evaluate the Total Transfer Capability (TTC) by considering uncertainty of weather conditions. TTC is limited not only by the violation of system thermal and voltage limits, but also restricted by transient stability limit. Impact of the contingency on the power system performance could not be addressed in a deterministic way because of the random nature of the system equipment outage and the increase of outage probability according to the weather conditions. For these reasons, probabilistic approach is necessary to realize evaluation of the TTC. This method uses a sequential Monte Carlo simulation (MCS). In sequential simulation, the chronological behavior of the system is simulated by sampling sequence of the system operating states based on the probability distribution of the component state duration. Therefore, MCS is used to accomplish the probabilistic calculation of the TTC with consideration of the weather conditions.

Jitter Tolerances in Digital Transmission Equipment (디지틀 전송 장치의 지터 허용치)

  • In the digital transmission equipment, the input jitter tolerance is a function of input timing recovery circuit characteristics. Especially, in the asynchronous multiplexers, it is also a function of the frame format, the buffer sizes in the synchronizer and desynchronizer, the PLL transfer function, and operating range of VCO in PLL In this paper, a new algorithm for calculating the jitter tolerance of the saynchronous digital transmission equipment is presented. With the new algorithm, we analyzed how the above factors limit the jitter tolerance in the equipment. We also measured the input jitter tolerance for a 45M-140M multiplexing equipment, whose results show the same trend with calculated tolerance.

  • The best method is selected among the 3 digital dynamic compensation methods which are developed or applied for the Rhodium self-powered neutron detector. The three digital dynamic compensation methods are the existing Dominant Pol Tustin method of the COLSS(Core Operating Limit Supervisory System), the Direct Inversion method and Kalman Filter method. The Direct Inversion method is an improved method of D. Hoppe and R. Maletti and the Kalman Filter method is developed using the Kalman Filter. Response times of the compensated signals to achieve 90% of a step input are 28.1, 17.2 and 6.5 seconds respectively for the same noise gain telling that the Kalman Filter method is the best amens the 3 methods.

小型 디이젤機關에 있어서 알코올 利용에 관한 硏究

  • The method of methanol using in diesel engines hasn't been established yet because of it's low ignition characters. But many studies about it with many methods have been doing recently. If alcohol can be used in diesel engines, smoke and NO$\sub$x/, which is a big problem in diesel engines, can be reduced large. The purpose of this study is to establish using method of alcohol, as a substitute fuel. In this study, Combustion characters, engine performance and exhaust gas emissions are checked by using gasfication diesel method. Concluding remarks of this study are as follows. (1) Methanol can be used within 30% of total inducing energy, if above that rate, it can't be used because of knocking and bad operating condition. (2) Under the low load, the effect of methanol inducing of fuel consumption is somewhat bad, but under the high load, the effect is very good. (3) Under the high load, smoke limit is a marked improvement with methanol inducing.

The Reliability Estimation of Buried Pipeline Using the FAD and FORM (파손평가선도(FAD)와 FORM을 이용한 매설배관의 건전성 평가)

  • In this paper, the methodology for the reliability estimation of buried pipeline with longitudinal gouges and dent is presented and the limit state of buried pipeline is formulated by failure assessment diagram(FAD). The reliability of buried pipeline with defects has been estimated by using a theory of failure probability. The failure probability is calculated by using the FORM(first order reliability method) and Monte Carlo simulation. The results out of two procedures have been compared each other. It is found that the FORM and Monte Carlo simulation give similar results for varying boundary conditions and various random variables. Furthermore, it is also recognized that the failure probability increases with increasing of dent depth, gouge depth, gouge length, operating pressure, pipe outside radius and decreasing the wall thickness. And it is found that the analysis by using the failure assessment diagram gives highly conservative results than those by using the theory of failure probability.

  • This study focuses on finding ways to derive train's optimal ECO driving pattern, which can improve the ride quality and reduce driving energy consumption with keeping the time interval between the stations. As research method, we compared difference of currently operating train's ATO and MCS driving patterns, and concentrated upon the things need to consider in simulation in order to improve the existing pattern of ATO driving pattern's issues with securing the train operation safety. Determining driving pattern minimizing energy consumption by controlling powering within speed limit and controlling switching to coasting at appropriate point considering the track conditions for each section, and determining braking control starting time considering ride comfort and precise stopping is considered to be most important.

  • This paper shows an implementation and management result of wireless networks based security light control system, which performs a great role in protection of pedestrians and prevention of crime. Conventional security light units have severe limits in confirmation and inspection of security light unit failure, like wilful damage by someone or failure by influence of other equipment or failure by spontaneous heat-increase, and so on. In addition, local government offices are responsible for maintenance of security light units and as a matter of fact, most of civil complaints are about security light units. It is an obvious that the existing security light maintenance system reaches the limit and the security light maintenance problem is a difficulty of local government. Therefore, efficient security light control system is needed, which enables central control and intelligent maintenance. Moreover, the system has to be easy to control and has to be stable. In this study, wireless sensor network based security light control system is implemented, which is independent of programming language and platform, and which is simple to control and extend the system. The proven protocols, HTTP and SOAP, are utilized in order to improve the system reliability. This paper shows the excellence of our proposed system by implementing and operating it in real environment.

Design of Low-Melting Metal Fuse Elements of Current Sensing Type Protection Device for Large Capacity Secondary Battery Protection System (대용량 이차전지 보호 시스템용 전류 감지 동작형 보호소자의 저융점 금속 가용체 설계)

  • High-capacity secondary batteries can cause explosion hazards owing to microcurrent variations or current surges that occur in short circuits. Consequently, complete safety cannot be achieved with general protection that is limited to a mere current fuse. Hence, in the case of secondary batteries, it is necessary for the protector to limit the inrush current in a short circuit, and to detect the current during microcurrent variations. To serve this purpose, a fuse can be employed for the secondary battery protection circuit with current detection. This study aims at designing a protection device that can stably operate in the hazardous circumstances associated with high-capacity secondary batteries. To achieve the said objective, a detecting fuse was designed from an alloy of low melting point elements for securing stability in abnormal current states. Experimental results show that the operating I-T and V-T characteristic constraints can be satisfied by employing the proposed current detecting self-contained low melting point fuse, and through the resistance of the heating resistor. These results thus verify that the proposed protection device can prevent the hazards of short circuit current surges and microcurrent variations of secondary batteries.

  • Chlorine has strong oxidizing power, also it is many advantages over other disinfectants such as the residual characteristic and economic feasibility. However, chlorine also has disadvantages such as creating disinfection by-products of chlorine as THMs. In particular, the most deadly disadvantage of chlorine is that it is extremely poisonous toxins about all alive lives. Disinfection with electrolysis water can be a very useful way Because you do not have to worry about chlorine's dangerous. In this study, we evaluated the potential as a disinfectant, across the evaluating disinfection effect and generating characteristic of by-products. The electrolyzed water could be obtained removal efficiencies of over 99.9 % the coliform by operating condition such as residence time, current density (voltage), the electrode gap. The residual chlorine be generated 10,000 mg/L in current density $1.0A/dm^2$ and residence time of 10 minutes. The residual chlorine concentration was possible to maintain a stable. The by-products generated by high concentration residual chlorine in the reactor such as trihalomethanes, haloaceticacid, chloralhydrate, haloacetonitrile were detected in less than a water quality standards. At the concentration of less than residual chlorine of 1 ppm, the chlorine disinfection by-products be generated most below the detection limit.

The Development of Compensated Bang-Bang Current Controller for Travel Motor of Industry Electrical Vechicle (산업용 전기차량의 주행 모터용 보상된 Bang-Bang 전류제어기 개발)

  • In order to establish the design technique of the robust current controller in d.c series wound motor driver system, this paper proposes a method of the compensated Bang-Bang current control using d.c series wound motor driver system under the improperly variable load to get minimum time for the torque control. The compensated Bang-Bang current controller structure is simpler than that of PID plus Bang-Bang controller. This paper shows that a general 16 bits microprocessor is efficiently used to implement such an algorithm. The calculation time of software is extremely small when compared with that of conventional PID plus Bang-Bang controller. Both nonlinear operating characteristics of digital switching elements and describing function methods are used for the analysis and synthesis. Real-time implementation of the compensated Bang-Bang current controller is achieved. The concept of design strategy of the control and the PWM waveform generation algorithms are presented in this paper.
