무선 센서 네트워크를 위한 수신 예측 기반 주기 적응적 웨이크업 기법 (A Period Adaptive Wakeup Technique based on Receive Prediction for WSN)

  • 무선 센서 네트워크에서 배터리로 동작하는 센서 노드 또는 수집 노드를 위한 에너지 효율을 개선한 MAC 프로토콜은 중요한 성능 요소이다. 본 논문에서는 무선 센서 네트워크를 위한 MAC 프로토콜에서 활성구간과 수면구간을 반복하여 수행하는 Duty Cycle 기법의 고정적인 활성 구간에 따른 제한적인 성능을 개선하기 위해 수신 예측 기반의 주기 적응적 웨이크업 제어 기법을 제안한다. 제안된 기법은 CC2500 RF 트랜시버 및 C8051F330 마이크로컨트롤러 기반의 무선 노드를 이용한 성능평가를 통해 최소의 활성구간을 분석하였고, 주기 변화에 따라 적응적으로 수면구간을 증가시켜 에너지 성능을 향상시킬 수 있음을 확인하였다.

  • This study is a part of project of urea-SCR system development for an in-use medium duty diesel engine. This study shows the effect of ammonia oxidation catalyst and SCR volume on $NO_X$ reduction performance. When AOC(Ammonia Oxidation Catalyst) is not used, the urea injection should be controlled accurately to prevent $NH_3$ slip. However, it is found that the accurate $NH_3$ slip control is not easy without AOC in real engine operating conditions, because $NH_3$ and $NO_X$ reaction characteristics change with many factors such as exhaust gas temperature and $NH_3$ absorbance on SCR. SCR volume is also one of important design parameters. This study shows that $NO_X$ reduction efficiency increases with increase of SCR volume especially at high space velocity and low exhaust gas temperature conditions. Additionally, this paper shows the emissions of EURO-2 medium duty diesel engine can be improved to the level of EURO-5 with a DPF and urea-SCR system.

Switched-Capacitor 지연 기법의 새로운 고해상도 DPWM 발생기를 이용한 Dynamic-Response-Free SMPS (Dynamic-Response-Free SMPS Using a New High-Resolution DPWM Generator Based on Switched-Capacitor Delay Technique)

  • 본 논문에서는 Switched-Capacitor 지연 기법의 새로운 고해상도 DPWM 발생기를 사용한 Dynamic-Response-Free SMPS를 제안한다. 제안된 회로는 Switched-Capacitor 지연 기법을 이용한 DPWM 발생기의 내부 커패시터 전압 기울기를 제어하는 방식으로 DPWM의 duty ratio를 결정한다. 제안된 회로는 컨버터의 피드백 전압과 기준전압을 비교하여 DPWM 발생기의 내부 캐패시터에 충방전되는 전류량을 제어하는 방식으로 출력전압 tracking이 가능하다. 따라서 제안된 회로는 기존 closed loop 제어 방식의 SMPS들에서 문제점이 되고 있는 동적 응답특성을 고려할 필요가 없으며, 출력 전압에 overshoot/undershoot로 인한 ringing 현상이 발생하지 않는다는 큰 장점을 가진다. 제안된 회로는 1MHz~10MHz까지 스위칭주파수를 사용자가 선택할 수 있으며, 100MHz의 내부 제어 동작 주파수로 10MHz 최대 스위칭 주파수(DPWM) 발생이 가능하다. 100MHz의 내부 제어 동작 주파수를 사용하여 10MHz 스위칭 주파수 발생시 소모되는 내부 회로의 최대 전류는 2.7mA이며, 출력 버퍼를 포함한 전체 시스템의 전류 소모는 15mA이다. 제안된 회로는 0.125%의 DPWM duty ratio 해상도를 가지고 부하에 최대 1A까지 전류공급이 가능하며, 최대 리플 전압은 8mV이다. 동부하이텍 BCD $0.35{\mu}m$ 공정 파라미터를 이용해 시뮬레이션을 수행하여 제안된 회로의 동작을 검증하였다.

  • SoC(System-On-Chip) 시스템에서 초 저전력 시스템을 구현하기 위한 dynamic voltage and frequency scaling (DVFS)알고리즘에 사용될 시스템 버스의 다중 코어 전압 레벨을 생성해주는 새로운 다계층(multi-level) 코어 전압용 high-speed level up/down Shifter 회로를 제안한다. 이 회로는 내부 회로군과 외부 회로군 사이에서 서로 다른 전압레벨을 조정 접속하는 I/O용 level up/down shifter interface 회로로도 동시에 사용된다. 제안하는 회로는 인터페이스 접속에서 불가피하게 발생하는 속도감쇄와 Duty Ratio 불안정 문제를 최소화하는 장점을 갖고 있다. 본 회로는 500MHz의 입력 주파수에서 $0.6V\sim1.6V$의 다중 코어 전압을 각 IP들에서 사용되는 전압레벨로, 또는 그 반대의 동작으로 서로 Up/Down 하도록 설계하였다 그리고 제안하는 I/O 용 회로의 level up shifter는 500MHz의 입력 주파수에서 내부 코어 용 level up shifter의 출력전압인 1.6V를 I/O 전압인 1.8V, 2.5V, 3.3V로 전압레벨을 상승 하도록 설계하였으며, level down shifter는 반대의 동작으로 1Ghz의 입력 주파수에서 동작하도록 설계하였다. 시뮬레이션 및 결과는 $0.35{\mu}m$ CMOS Process, $0.13{\mu}m$ IBM CMOS Process 와 65nm CMOS model 변수를 이용한 Hspice를 통하여 검증하였다. 또한, 제안하는 회로의 지연시간 및 파워소모 분석과 동작 주파수에 비례한 출력 전압의 Duty ratio 왜곡에 대한 연구도 하였다.

  • This paper presents a novel version of an active voltage clamped ZVS-PWM high frequency inverter using IGBTs for electromagnetic induction eddy current-based rolling drum heating in new generation copy and printing machines in consumer business use. The operating principle of this inverter circuit and unique features are described herein. Its constant frequency duty cycle (asymmetrical PWM) controlled voltage source quasi-resonant soft switching high frequency inverter employing IGBTs is proposed, which is capable of achieving stable and efficient zero voltage soft switching commutation over a widely specified power regulation range from full power to low power. The operating performances in a steady state of this inverter is discussed and evaluated on basis of simulation and experimental results as an induction heated roller in new generation copy machine.

  • Robustness and controllability are the key factors in internal combustion engine commercialization. This study focuses on the combustion strategy to commercialize the low temperature diesel combustion technology. Various LTC combustion methods such as PPCI, MK and highly diluted mixing controlled LTC were conducted on 6.0L heavy duty diesel engine. To find the best feasible LTC strategy, emission level, fuel consumption and combustion safety during the combustion mode change were considered. Experiments were carried out under various engine operating conditions; engine speed & load, EGR level, injection timing. Finally, this study suggests realizable LTC combustion strategy; moderate EGR level and slight early injection are possible to considerably lower PM, NOx emission and expand LTC operating range up to 50% load without CO and HC emission.

  • This paper presents a novel type soft switching PWM power frequency AC-AC converter using bidirectional active switches or single phase utility frequency AC-high frequency AC matrix converter. This converter can directly convert utility frequency AC (UFAC, 50Hz/60Hz) power to high frequency AC (HFAC) power ranging more than 20kHz up to 100kHz. A novel soft switching PWM prototype of high frequency multi-resonant PWM controlled UFAC-HFAC matrix converter using antiparallel one-chip reverse blocking IGBTs manufactured by IXYS corp. is based on the soft switching resonance with asymmetrical duty cycle PWM strategy. This single phase UFAC-HFAC matrix converter has some remarkable features as electrolytic capacitor DC busline linkless topology, unity power factor correction and sine-wave line current shaping, simple configuration with minimum circuit components, high efficiency and downsizing. This series load resonant UFAC-HFAC matrix converter, incorporating bidirectional active power switches is developed and implemented for high efficiency consumer induction heated food cooking appliances in home uses and business-uses. Its operating performances as soft switching operating ranges and high frequency effective power regulation characteristics are illustrated and discussed on the basis of simulation and experimental results.

유압모터 길들이기 자동시험 제어기 개발 (Development of the Auto-Aging Test Controller for a Hydraulic Motor)

  • Because heavy-duty construction vehicles such as excavators are required for good engine-room cooling capacity, a hydraulic gear motor is adopted in the cooling fan drive mechanism to actively control the output speed, instead of adopting the conventional ON/OFF type belt drive. While gear motors are normally limited to 140bars of operating pressure, those for the cooling fan are capable of operating at continuous pressures of up to 220bars. After assembly, all gear motors for high pressure must pass an aging test which is a kind of the wearing process between the gear teeth and motor housing. During the aging process with gradual pressure increments, gear sticking sometimes occurs due to abnormal wear, resulting in defects. This paper focuses on a gear-sticking free aging test controller that is designed together with the knowledge of an experienced operator and the analysis results of experimental data of the gear jamming phenomenon. From the aging experiment, it is demonstrated that the developed controller that can alter the setting pressure of the load pump is effective for stabilizing the abrupt increase in the motor input pressure, thus preventing the hydraulic motor from stopping. This is expected to be helpful for the reduction of defects and increase in productivity.

The effect of dynamic operating conditions on nano-particle emissions from a light-duty diesel engine applicable to prime and auxiliary machines on marine vessels

  • This study presents the nano-sized particle emission characteristics from a small turbocharged common rail diesel engine applicable to prime and auxiliary machines on marine vessels. The experiments were conducted under dynamic engine operating conditions, such as steady-state, cold start, and transient conditions. The particle number and size distributions were analyzed with a high resolution PM analyzer. The diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) had an insignificant effect on the reduction in particle number, but particle number emissions were drastically reduced by 3 to 4 orders of magnitude downstream of the diesel particulate filter (DPF) at various steady conditions. Under high speed and load conditions, the particle filtering efficiency was decreased by the partial combustion of trapped particles inside the DPF because of the high exhaust temperature caused by the increased particle number concentration. Retarded fuel injection timing and higher EGR rates led to increased particle number emissions. As the temperature inside the DPF increased from $25^{\circ}C$ to $300^{\circ}C$, the peak particle number level was reduced by 70% compared to cold start conditions. High levels of nucleation mode particle generation were found in the deceleration phases during the transient tests.

Optimization of Space Debris Collision Avoidance Maneuver for Formation Flying Satellites

  • The concept of the satellite formation flight is area where it is actively study with expandability and safety compare to existing satellite. For execution of duty with more safety issue, it needs to consider hot topic of space debris for operation of formation flight. In this paper, it suggests heuristic algorithm to have avoidance maneuver for space debris towards operating flight formation. Indeed it covers, using common software, operating simulation to nearest space environment and not only to have goal of avoidance but also minimizing the usage of fuel and finding optimization for maximizing cycle of formation flight. For improvement on convergence speed of existing heuristic algorithm, it substitute to hybrid heuristic algorithm, PSOGSA, and the result of simulation, it represents the satisfaction of minimum range for successful avoidance maneuver and compare to not using avoidance maneuver, it keeps more than three times of formation maintenance performance. From these, it is meaningful results of showing several success goals like simple avoidance collision and fuel usage and decreasing number of times of maintaining formation maneuver.
