To analyze Nonvolatile SNOSFET(polySilicon-Nitride-Oxide-Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor) memory device, two dimensional numerical computer simulation program was developed. The equation discretization was performed by the Finite difference method and the solution was derived by the Iteration method. The doping profile of n-channel device which was fabricated by 1Mbit CMOS process was observed. The electrical potential and the carrier concentration distribution to applied bias condition were observed in the inner of a device. As a result of the write and the erase to memory charge quantity, the threshold voltage shift is expected. Therefore, without device fabrication, the operating characteristics of the device was observed under various the processing and the operating condition.
Unsteady nature of a tip leakage vortex in an axial flow fan operating at a design and off-design operating conditions has been investigated by measuring the velocity fluctuation in a blade passage with a rotating hotwire probe sensor. Two hot-wire probe sensors rotating with the fan rotor were also introduced to obtain the cross-correlation coefficient between the two sensors located in the vortical flow as well as the fluctuating velocity. The results show that the vortical flow structure near the rotor tip can be clearly observed at the quasi-orthogonal planes to a tip leakage vortex. The leakage vortex is enlarged as the flow rate is decreased, thus resulting in the high blockage to main flow. The spectral peaks due to the fluctuating velocity near the rotor tip are mainly observed in the reverse flow region at higher flow rates than the peak pressure operating condition. However, no peak frequency presents near the rotor tip for near stall condition.
Modern power grids are becoming more and more stressed with the load demands increasing continually. Therefore large stressed power systems exhibit complicated dynamic behavior when subjected to small disturbance. Especially, it is needed to analyze special conditions which make small signal stability structure varied according to operating conditions. This paper shows that the relation between small signal stability and operating conditions can be predicted well using node-focus point and 1:1 resonance point. Also, the weak point which limits operating range can be identified by the analysis of resonance condition. The proposed method is applied to test systems, and the results illustrate its capabilities.
In this study, a trade-off analysis of a power conversion system (PCS) is performed in accordance with a power semiconductor device to establish the suitable operating frequency range for the anyplace induction heating system. A resonant network is designed under each operating frequency condition to compare and analyze the PCS losses depending on the power semiconductor device. On the basis of the simulation results, the PCS losses and frequency condition are calculated. The calculated results are then used for a trade-off analysis between Si-MOSFET and GaN-HEMT based on PCS. The suitable operating frequency range is determined, and the validity of the analysis results is verified by the experiment results.
If an internal combustion engine is operated by consolidated control, the minimum fuel consumption is achieved satisfying the demanded objectives. For this, it is necessary that the engine is operated on the ideal operating line which satisfies minimum fuel consumption. In this context of view, there are many tries to achieve given object. However, the parameter in the internal combustion engines are variable and depend on the operating points. Therefore, it is necessary to cope with the uncertainties such that the optimal operating may be possible. From this point of view, this paper gives a controller design method and a robust stability condition for engine torque control which satisfies the given control performance and robust stability in the presence of physical parameter perturbation. Exactly, the present paper considers a robust stability of this 2DOF servosystem with nonlinear type uncertainty in the engine system, and a robust stability condition for the servosystem is introduced. This result guarantees that if the plant uncertainty is in the permissible set defined by the given condition then a gain tuning can be carried out to suppress the influence of the plant uncertainties.
Flow fields in a half ducted propeller fan have been investigated by three-dimensional Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) simulations and a vortex core identification technique. The simulation at the design operating condition shows that the tip vortex onset point is located at 30 percent tip chord of the suction surface on the blade tip. There is no interaction between the tip vortex and the adjacent blade, so that the tip vortex smoothly convects to the rotor exit. However, the high vorticity in the tip vortex causes the wake and the tip leakage flow to be twined around the tip vortex and to interact with the pressure surface of the adjacent blade. This flow behavior corresponds well with experimental results by Laser Doppler Velocimetry. On the contrary, the simulation at the low-flowrate operating condition shows that the tip vortex onset point is located at the 60 percent tip chord of the suction surface. In contrast to the design operating condition, the tip vortex grows almost tangential direction, and impinges directly on the pressure surface of the adjacent blade.
In this study, we estimated the performance of PEMFC's unit cell as changing operating temperature in different inlet humidity condition at cathode side but anode dry, and tried to match experimental results with 1-dimensional simulation. We used $Nafion^{\circledR}112$ membrane and a self-manufactured PEMFC with active area of $25cm^{2}$ was used in this study. The range of operating temperature was $40{\sim}70^{\circ}C$ and oxygen through bubbled humidity chamber was supplied $0{\sim}80$% humidity condition as changing water temperature in humidity chamber. For figuring out governing equations, represent water contents in electrolyte membrane, the linear forward difference method was applied about time progress and quadratic central difference method was used about space progress. It was assumed that pressure terms were linearly changed due to thin electrolyte membrane. In low operating temperature condition, $40{\sim}60^{\circ}C$, increasing temperature rarely effected cell performance but we can see performance drop at $70^{\circ}C$. By modifying Henrry's constant and/or diffusion coefficient, the modified one-dimensional model was accomplished for calculation.
Even though digital control type high speed solenoid valve is a little inferior to analog control type servo valve and proportional control valve in performance, it is cheap and has secure performance against pollutant and simple control circuit. But high speed solenoid valve is hardly used for heavy machinery instead of servo valve or proportional control valve that is used in severe condition because the valve itself is small capacity and it shows wide dead zone during on-off control and chattering of hydraulic cylinder by chattering of pressure. It is desirable to use low-priced and strong pollutant resistant high speed solenoid valve for obtaining reliability of operation from severe working condition because it isn't necessary to acquire response characteristic of high frequency when we consider the characteristic of heavy machinery operation. In this study, PWM control algorithm for pilot pressure control of large capacity pilot operating valve will be used for precision position control of heavy machinery hydraulic cylinder. Not only cost reduction of main control valve but also high reliability of heavy machinery in severe condition can be obtained by using this pilot operating spool valve with high speed solenoid valve.
The frequency characteristics in an axial flow fan operating at a design and three off-design operating conditions have been investigated by measuring the velocity fluctuation of a tip leakage vortex and a wake flow. Two hot-wire probe sensors rotating with the fan rotor. a fixed and a moving ones, were introduced to obtain a cross-correlation coefficient between two sensors as well as the fluctuating velocity. The results show that the spectral peaks due to the fluctuating velocity near the rotor tip are mainly observed in the reverse flow region of higher flow rates than those in the peak pressure operating condition. However, no peak frequency presents near the rotor tip for near stall condition. Detailed wake flow just downstream of the rotor blade was also measured by the rotating hot-wire sensor. The peak frequency of a high velocity fluctuation due to Karman vortex shedding in the wake region is mainly observed at the higher flow rate condition than that in the design point.
