  • On today, Protocol reverse-engineering technique can be used to extract the specification of an unknown protocol. However, there is no standardized method, and in most cases, the extracting process is executed manually or semi-automatically. If the information about the structure of an unknown protocol could be acquired in advance, it would be easy to conduct reverse engineering. the feature extraction is an important step in unknown protocol classification. However, in this paper, we present a comparison several feature extraction techniques and suggests a method of feature extraction algorithm for recognizing unknown protocol. In order to verify the performance of the proposed system, we performed the training using eight open protocols to evaluate the performance using unknown data.

  • RConsumer Portal is defined as "a combination of hardware and software that enables two-way communication between energy service providers(ESP, like KEPCO) and equipment within the consumer's premises". The portal provides both a physical link(between wires, radio waves, and other media) and a logical link(translating among language-like codes and etiquette-like protocols) between in-building and wide-area access networks. Thus, the consumer portal is an important, open public shared infrastructure in the future vision of energy services. This paper presents an XML based standard specification of service-oriented, open protocol for consumer portal system architecture. In the framework level, the XML protocol provides a useful bridge between services and platforms. The proposed standard protocol has been implemented into our developing consumer portal pilot system. The results imply the potential of global standards for consumer portal system by its minimum overhead in network and processor. The reposed XML is designated psXML in this paper.

  • Network is expected to be developed into optical Internet network collected IP layer and optical layer, but GMPLS is risen at the transitional evolution stage because of the present technology level. GMPLS that MPLS is extended and generalized is able to support not only the packet switching device but also the devices which perform switching in time, wavelength, and space domain. To implement the common control plane to these various switching types, GMPLS extends the existing MPLS signaling and routing protocol. In this paper, we describe the overview of GMPLS technology, and then we will refer to the OSPF(Open Shortest Path First), which was used to exchange the status information of link, as the plan of routing extension to exchange the information of various link type, bandwidth, link protection type etc. And also, we describe the definition of new protocol, so called, LMP that is a signaling protocol for solving complex problem which manages hundreds and thousands of links between two nodes. And we will examine and analyze the plan of signaling protocol extension to apply signaling protocol RSVP-TE(Resource Reservation Protocol) for traffic engineering in MPLS to network, and the message objects and formats associated with modified RSVP.

  • In this paper we suggest a protocol and an algorithm which connect a secure channel between a server and a client over a TCP layer. To make key exchange time the most quickly, the protocol adopts ECC Diffie Hellman(ECCDH) algorithm. And the protocol does not use Hello message for key exchanges and state changes. We also implement this protocol over an open TCP/IP program and check the secure channel connecting time over the military computer network. The suggested protocol could be practically used on the military computer network without a hardware implementation.

  • IPTV broadcast channels and video content distribution are increasingly saturating network paths. New solutions based on inter-domain multicast protocols could contribute to the enhancement of multimedia content distribution over the Internet. The aim of this paper is to propose new capabilities for an existing inter-domain multicast protocol, the Protocol Independent Multicast-Sparse Mode. We describe the modified protocol and analyze its behavior using newly developed tools based on an open-source software simulator. The resulting protocol does not require topology information, which is advantageous for easier deployment. In addition, the adopted solution avoids inherent problems with inter-domain multicast routing, such as multiple paths and path asymmetries.

  • Purpose: This study developed a protocol for nursing care after death for adult patients in hospitals. Methods: This was a methodological study to develop a care after death protocol. The preliminary protocol was developed based on a literature review, guidelines, and practice recommendations from groups of experts and clinical nurses. Content validity was evaluated by a group of experts (n=6) and nurses (n=30) in two hospitals. Results: The preliminary protocol recommendations were modified by validation and the open-question analysis results. The final protocol comprised three general recommendations and 43 recommendations in five steps that are verification and notification of a death, personal care of the body, viewing the patient, patient transfer, and documentation and self-care. Conclusion: This study result provides nurses with a consensus information on patient care after death and family support in a hospital setting. This nursing protocol is expected to improve the quality of care after death for adult patients and their families, and can be used for developing educational and emotional support for nurses to accomplish their important role.

  • There are many economic and operational reasons to integrate fire alarm signaling system with other building automation system. Integration of this requires open network with for the standard communication protocol and careful design practices. The important point for this is also the development of intelligent control modules for replacing the conventional zone adapter in fire system. Therefore, this paper proposes an new conceptual design of the open distributed fire alarm signaling system for the integration of BAS, a new intelligent control modules with LonTalk protocol and a new control modules for power line communication. Newly proposed additions to LonWorks network make it very well suited for integrating fire systems with other building automation sub-systems and another BAS with low cost. Additionally, it is very important that best design practices, test procedures and building codes need to be modernized to accommodate integrated building systems.

  • We propose a method for the implementation of an EtherCAT communication bus in a Linux-based open source Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) system. Recently, increasingly more CNC systems support real-time Ethernet protocols such as EtherCAT, which is a high-performance industrial communication protocol. For real-time CNC control over an Ethernet-based protocol, an additional layer driver needs to be implemented between the CNC system and the master of industrial communication protocol. Among the various solutions for the connection layer driver, we employ a Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) driver based on Linux. The operation of the implemented CNC system is demonstrated and confirmed by Hal Meter, which is used to observe the pins, signals, or parameters of HAL.

  • In this paper, we propose an open protocol to be employed between a smart meter concentrator and a metering data collection server, and also evaluate its performance. Legacy concentrators performs the connection establishment and data gathering operations with DLMS/COSEM protocol standards. However, we note that there are no standardized protocols between the concentrator and the collection server, which inevitably conduces each commercial smart metering system to have its own proprietary protocol. In order to solve this problem, we propose an open protocol - Smart Meter Concentrator Control Protocol(SMCCP) by extending the existing standard protocol(DLMS/COSEM). The SMCCP can provide the proxy mode to enable efficient transmission between the concentrator and the data collection server. It also can support the relay mode to enable a direct communication between the data collection server and each far end smart meter. We also implement an emulator system and a protocol analyzer to provide its operation. In addition, we evaluate the session holding time and the link usage ratio in both relay and proxy modes with OMNET++ simulator.

  • WebDAV(Web-based Distributed Authoring and Versioning), a protocol which supports web-based distributed authoring and versioning, provides a standard infrastructure for asynchronous collaboration on various contents through the Internet. A WebDAV property management is a function to set and manage the main information of the resources as properties, and a user property, one kind of the WebDAV properties, has the ability to be freely defined by users. This free definition of user property makes it very useful to develop web-based applications like a collaboration system based on WebDAV However, with an existing WebDAV property management scheme, there is a limit to develop various applications. This paper describes a DavUP(WebDAV User property design Protocol) protocol which extended the original WebDAV and its uti-lization which efficiently supports management of WebDAV user properties. DavUP needs the definition of the collection structure and type definition properties for an application. To do this, we added a new header md appropriated WebDAV method functions to the WebDAV protocol. To show the usefulness of DavUP protocols, we extended our DAVinci WebDAV server to support DavUP Protocols and experimentally implemented a general Open Workspace, which provides effective functions to share and exchange open data among general users, on the DAVinci.
