3D Map-Building using Histogramic In-Motion Mapping in the Eyebot (HIMM을 이용한 3차원 지도작성)

  • This paper introduces histogramic in-motion mapping for real-time map building with the Eyebot in motion. A histogram grid used in HIMM is updated through three PSD sensors. HIMM makes it possible to make fast map-building and avoid obstacles in real-time. Fast map-building allows the robot to immediately use the mapped information in real-time obstacle-avoidance algorithms. HIMM has been tested on the Eyebot. The Eyebot sends PSD data to computer and computer builds a 3D-Map based on PSD data.

  • The A* algorithm is usually used in game programming, mainly because it is fast in finding a optimal path to goal. In this paper. This algorithm was utilized for path finding, HIMM(Histogramic In-Motion Mapping) method is used in map-building. Map is updated continuously with range data sampled by PSD sensors From the map, A* algorithm finds a optimal path and sends subsequently the most suitable point to the Eyebot. A* algorithm has been tested on the Eyebot in various unknown maps of unknown and proved to work well. It could escape the local minimum, also.

  • We developed a Off-Line Graphic Simulator which can simulate a robot model in 3D graphics space in Windows 95 version. 4 axes SCARA robot was adopted as an objective model. Forward kinematics, inverse kinematics and robot dynamics modeling were included in the developed program. The interface between users and the off-line program system in the Windows 95's graphic user interface environment was also studied. The developing language is Microsoft Visual C++. Graphic libraries, OpenGL, by Silicon Graphics, Inc. were utilized for 3D graphics.

The interface between users and the off-line program system in the Windows 95's graphic user interface environment was also studied. The developing language is Microsoft Visual C++.   • Korean Sign Language (KSL) is a communication method for the Deaf in Korea, and hand shape is one of important elements in sign language. In this paper, we developed a KSL hand shape editor to simply compose hand shape and connect it to a database. We can edit hand shape by a graphical user interface (GUI) on 3D virtual reality environment. Hand shape codes are connected to a sign word editor to synthesize sign motion and to decrease total amount of KSL data.

  • 본 논문은 3차원 그래픽스 시스템이 기본적으로 제공하는 프리미티브인 면(surface), 솔리드(solid)의 복셀화 및 이들을 결합한 CSG 표현의 복셀화에 대하여 고찰한다. 복셀화는 서피스로 표현된 물체의 빈 내부를 복셀로 표현하여 내부를 태우는 과정이다. 본 방법의 특징은 PC 플랫폼이 제공하는 그래픽스 API인 OpenGL을 이용하여 면, 솔리드 등을 고속으로 복셀화하여 이들을 기본 물체로 하여 불리언연산에 의해서 간단히 새로운 물체를 만들고 볼륨 환경에서 이들을 단일화된 방법으로 렌더링할 수 있는 것이다.

  • A new algorithm of the image mapping which is a technique of the elemental image generation is proposed. The proposed method is based on the characteristics of the lens array such as the number, the size and the focal length of the elemental lens. The 3D image generated by 3D graphic API such as OpenGL can be directly adopted without the complex adaptation. Since the image mapping using the proposed method can enhance the speed of the elemental image generation, the computer- generated integral imaging system can be applied to virtual reality system.

  • Three-dimensional(3D) integral imaging system which can be used in a virtual reality system is proposed. The proposed system uses a new image mapping algorithm which can achieve the real time processing, which is indispensable for the virtual reality system. 3D images generated by the advanced graphic software such as OpenGL API can be directly used without complex adaptation. Therefore, the computer-generated integral imaging system using the proposed mapping algorithm can be successfully applied to virtual reality.

  • This paper presents a design and MPW implementation of 3D Graphics Floating Point IPs. Designed IPs include adder, subtractor, multiplier, divider, and reciprocal unit. The IPs have pipelined structures. The IPs meet the accuracy required in OpenGL ES. The operation frequency of the IPs is 100MHz. The IPs can be efficiently used in 3D graphics accelerators.
