On account of the good conductivity and optical properties, TCO is generally used in silicon heterojunction solar cell since the emitter material, hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si:H), of the solar cell has low conductivity compare to the emitter of crystalline silicon solar cell. However, the work function mismatch between TCO layer and emitter leads to band-offset and interfere the injection of photo-generated carriers. In this study, work function engineering of TCO by oxygen reactive sputtering method was carried out to identify the trend of band-offset change. The open circuit voltage and short circuit current are noticeably changed by work function that effected from variation of oxygen ratio.
Photovoltaic effects in organic solar cell were studied in a cell configuration of ITO/PEDOT:PSS/CuPc(20nm)/$C_{60}$(40nm)/BCP/Al(150nm) at room temperature. Here, the BCP layer works as an exciton blocking layer. The exciton blocking layer must transport electrons from the acceptor layer to the metal cathode with minimal increase in the total cell series resistance and should absorb damage during cathode deposition. Therefore, a proper thickness of the exciton blocking layer is required for an optimized photovoltaic cell. Several thicknesses of BCP were made between $C_{60}$ and Al. And we obtained characteristic parameters such as short-circuit current, open-circuit voltage, and power conversion efficiency of the device under the illumination of AM 1.5.
The molten carbonate fuel cell(MCFC) has been under Intensive development for the last decade as a second generation fuel cell. The advantages of the MCFC over the phophoric acid fuel cell are higher efficiency, its ability to accept CO and $H_2$ as a fuel, lower material costs, and high operating temperature making internal reforming possible. These features, along with low atmospheric emissions, will open up a significant market as an attractive means of developing highly efficient power plant. This article reviews a status of the MCFC research and development, a principle of the MCFC, and cell and stack technology including the status of electrodes, matrices and electrolytes. Several technical difficulties which must be resolved to be commercialized art mainly focused.
This paper was researched about effectiveness of the electrochemical cell which is composed of the sea water and the Cu/Zn electrode. The electric potential difference between copper and zinc finally reached 0.51 volts. Short current decreased with time. It might depend on the electromotive force decreasing. Confirmed the load resistance and electrode affect in electromotive force and electric current. The resistance which shows a maximum output power was 20[$\Omega$], and the maximum output power from this resistance was evaluated as 0.736mW. In order to calculate the energy which creates from electrochemical cell, charging voltage of the capacitor with various capacitance was investigated. It was found that energy harvesting possibility of the cell which is made of a sea water electrolyte and the copper/the zinc.
We describe a manufacturing method and characteristics on components of molten carbonate fuel cell. Cr, Al, AI$_{2}$O$_{3}$, Co, MgO powder were mixed with Ni powder for anode components and NiO was used for cathode electrode. The electrolyte plate consisted of LiAIO$_{2}$ and carbonate (Li$_{2}$CO$_{3}$/K$_{2}$CO$_{3}$=62/38) and these three were manufactured by doctor-blade method. As a result, open circuit voltage was 1.05[VI at Ni-10Cr anode and porosity was above 60[%].
We investigated grain boundary effect for terrestrial applications of solar cell\ulcorner with low cost, large area, and high efficiency. Grain boundaries are known as potential barriers and recombination centers for the photo-generated charge carriers, which make it difficult to achieve a high efficiency cell. To reduce these effects of grain boundaries, we investigated various influencing factors such as thermal treatments, various grid patterns, selective wet etchings for grain boundaries, buried contact metallizations along grain boundaries, and use of metallic thin films. From the various grid patterns we learned that the series resistance of solar cell reduced open circuit voltage and consequently decreased the cell efficiency. This paper describes the effect of various grid patterns and the employment of metallic thin films for a top electrode.

Wide band gap p-type hydrogenated amorphous silicon oxide (a-SiO:H) buffer layer has been used at the interface of transparent conductive oxide (TCO) and hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si:H) p-type layer of a p-i-n type a-Si:H solar cell. Introduction of 5 nm thick buffer layer improves in blue response of the cell along with 0.5% enhancement of photovoltaic conversion efficiency (η). The cells with buffer layer show higher open circuit voltage (Voc), fill factor (FF), short circuit current density (Jsc) and improved blue response with respect to the cell without buffer layer.
Leaf movements in nyctinastic plants are produced by changes in the turgor of extensor and flexor cells, collectively called motor cells, in opposing regions of the leaf movement organ, the pulvinus. In Samanea saman, a tropical tree of the legume family, extensor cells shrink and flexor cells swell to bend the pulvinus and fold the leaf at night, whereas extensor cells swell and flexor cells shrink to straighten the pulvinus and extend the leaf in the daytime. These changes are caused by ion fluxes primarily of potassium and chloride, across the plasma membrane of the motor cells. These ion fluxes are regulated by exogenous light signals and an endogenous biolgical clock. Inward-directed K$^+$ channels are closed in extensor and open in flexor cells in the dark period, while these channels are open in extensor and closed in flexor cells in the light period. Blue light opens the closed K$^+$ channels in extensor and closes the open them in flexor cells during darkness. Illumination of red light followed by darkness induces to open the closed K$^+$ channels in flexor and to close the open K$^+$ channels in extensor cells in the light. The dynamics of K$^+$ channels in motor cells that are controlled by light signals are consistent with the behavior of the pulvini in intact plants. Therefore, these cell types are an attractive model system to elucidate regulations of ion transports and their signal transduction pathways in plants. This review is focused on light-controlled ion movements and regulatory mechanisms involved in phosphoinositide signaling in leaf movements in nyctinastic plants.
In this study, PN junction solar cell and P$\^$+/-N-N$\^$+/ BSF solar cell, using N-type(111), 10$\^$16/[atoms/cm$\^$-3/] wafer, were fabricated applying that ion implant method whose dose are 1E14, 1E15, 3E15 and its acceleration energy is 50Key, 100Key respectively. The impurity concentration of two types of front-side are 10$\^$18/[atoms/cm$\^$-3/] and back-side concentration for BSF solar cell is 10$\^$17/[atoms/cm$\^$-3/]. As a result of comparison for 2 typical types of cells out of various fabricated samples, open circuit voltage (Voc), short circuit current(Isc) of BSF solar cell are larger than those of PN solar cell by 48[%], 14[%]. Considering that the efficiency of BSF cell is 2.5[%] as well as PN solar cell's is 7.5[%], 10.0[%] of efficiency improvement effect can be obtained from BSF solar cell. Futhermore, in consequence of front-side impurity concentration change from 10$\^$17/[atoms/cm$\^$-3] to 10$\^$20/[atoms/cm$\^$-3/] alternately, the most ideal result can be expected when it is 10$\^$18/[atoms/cm$\^$-3/].
Inhibition of inflammatory response, acceleration of basal cell growth, and balanced synthesis of extracellular matrix (ECM) are important in healing of cutaneous open wounds. In order to evaluate the healing effects of water extracts of Radix Astragali (the root of Astragalus membranaceus (Fisch.)) on open wound at early stage, the experimental open wounds were generated on the dorsal sides of SD rats under anesthesia. The boiled-water extracts of Radix Astragali $(100{\mu}l)$, soaked into an occlusive film dressing were applied once a day for eleven consecutive days. The healing process was assessed by measuring macroscopic appearance and wound areas of the open wounds. The molecular aspects of healing process by Radix Astragali extracts were also investigated by Hematoxylin-Eosin (H-E) double staining and immunohistological staining of collagen type I in the healed skin area, implying cell density and linear alignment of the granulation tissue, and ECM synthesis and its remodeling, respectively. The Astragali radix extracts were found to significantly accelerate the cutaneous wound healing by suppressing the inflammation and stimulating the basal cell growth in wounded area, as compared to epidermal growth factor (EGF).
