  • The study aims to present authenticity ontology required for capturing information about digital record's identity and integrity over the course of the lifecycle. To this end, we analyzed the functional requirements, domain model, and sample properties of the IPAM (InterPARES Authenticity Metadata), Based on IPAM, we proposed an ontology for authenticity of digital records with sample records. The suggested ontology modeling can be utilized as the basis for establishing an authenticity information creation and management tool for digital records.

  • Although ISO 25964-2 was introduced in 2013, existing research about it that can be used for analysis and basis for its application is scarce. This study analyzed the interoperability of vocabularies emphasized in ISO 25964-2. First, this study examined the mapping types of the concept sharing method. In addition, based on the mapping types, this study sought for and examined the interoperability method between a thesaurus and ontology. Lastly, this study has suggested a thesaurus and ontology interoperability model and designed and constructed an ontology model for administrative department names in Korea to verify the possible of the model.

  • According to the ubiquitous technology development, managing of the warehouse system which stores and manages agriculture products is realized effectively. This paper proposes an ontology-based context aware system model for the purpose of storing and managing agricultural products using ubiquitous sensors to share and distribute information. In these days, owing to penetrating ubiquitous technologies into our way of life, the importance of information is increasing gradually. The importance of ontology in a domain is getting as well. Therefore, this paper focuses on describing to get data from ubiquitous devices such as sensors, and designs and build an ontology-based agricultural product warehouse model.

  • Schema matching is important as a prerequisite to the transformation of XML documents. This paper presents a schema matching method for the transformation of XML documents. The proposed method consists of two steps: preliminary matching relationships between leaf nodes in the two XML schemas are computed based on proposed ontology and leaf node similarity, and final matchings are extracted based on a proposed path similarity. Particularly, for a sophisticated schema matching, the proposed ontology is incrementally updated by users' feedback. furthermore, since the ontology can describe various relationships between concepts, the proposed method can compute complex matchings as well as simple matchings. Experimental results with schemas used in various domains show that the proposed method is superior to previous works, resulting in a precision of 97% and a recall of 83 % on the average. Furthermore, the dynamic ontology increased by 9 percent overall.

  • Nurses have performed their nursing practice according to the standard guidelines such as NANDA, NIC, and NOC, and recorded the information on nursing process into EMR system. In particular, NANDA, nursing diagnosis taxonomy, has difficulty expressing nursing diagnosis in detail because it represents abstract concepts of nursing diagnosis. So, the hospitals in KOREA have developed and used the list of nursing diagnosis on their own without referring the international standard terminologies, and it caused the delay of computerization of nursing records. Therefore, we proposed a ontology development methodology on nursing diagnosis based on NANDA and SNOMED-CT. The developed ontology, systematically developed with the frequently used nursing diagnosis terminologies in each hospital, based on the proposed methodology enables knowledge expansion and interoperable exchange of nursing records between EMR systems. We developed an ontology using the 112 nursing diagnosis terms defined by extracting and refining information on nursing diagnosis recorded in Kyungpook National University Hospital. We also confirmed the content validity and the usefulness of the developed ontology through expert assessment and experiment.

  • This study investigates the ontology-based public participation GIS(PPGIS). The major reason that ontology-based GIS has attracted attention in semantic communication in recent year is due to the wide availability of geographical variable and the imminent need for turning such recommendation into useful geographical knowledge. Therefore, this study has been focused on designing and implementing the pilot tested system for public participation GIS. The applicability of the pilot tested was validated through a simulation experiment for history tourism in Guri city Gyeongi-do, Focused on the methodology, the life cycle model which involves regional statues and user recognition, can be viewed as an important preprocessing step(specification, conceptualization, formalization, integration and implementation) for recommended geographical knowledge discovery by axiom. Focusing on practicality, ontology in this study would be recommended for geographical knowledge through reasoning. In addition, ontology-based public participation GIS would show integration epistemological and ontological approach, and be utilized as an index which is connected with semantic communication. The results of the pilot system was applied to the study area, which was a part of scenario. The model was carried out using axiom of logical constraint in the meaning of human-activity.

  • We propose a novel technique to categorize XML documents and extract a concept efficiently using domain ontology. First, we create domain ontology that use text mining technique and statistical technique. We propose a DScore technique to classify XML documents by using the structural characteristic of XML document. We also present TScore technique to extract a concept by comparing the association term set of domain ontology and the terms in the XML document. To verify the efficiency of the proposed technique, we perform experiment for 295 papers in the computer science area. The results of experiment show that the proposed technique using the structural information in the XML documents is more efficient than the existing technique. Especially, the TScore technique effectively extract the concept of documents although frequency of term is few. Hence, the proposed concept-based retrieval techniques can be expected to contribute to the development of an efficient ontology-based knowledge management system.

  • Recently, the issue of efficient power management in datacenters as a part of green computing has gained prominence. For realizing efficient power management, effective power monitoring and analysis must be conducted for servers in a datacenter. However, an administrator should know the exact structure of the datacenter and its associated databases, and is required to analyze relationships among the observed data. This is because according to previous monitoring approaches, servers are usually managed using only databases. In addition, it is not possible to monitor data that are not indicated in databases. To overcome these drawbacks, we proposed an ontology-based monitoring approach. We constructed domain ontology for management servers at a datacenter, and mapped observed data onto the constructed domain ontology by using semantic annotation. Moreover, we defined query creation rules and server state rules. To demonstrate the proposed approach, we designed an ontology based monitoring system architecture, and constructed a knowledge system. Subsequently, we implemented the pilot system to verify its effectiveness.

  • Defense M&S (Modeling&Simulation) is a tool that creates a virtual battle situation similar to the real world, measuring and evaluating the effects of war or combat elements. However, it is very challenging to consider all the possible outcomes on the battlefield. To solve this problem, we propose a battlefield ontology, which conceptualizes the data of battlefield situation with tactical considerations. The proposed battlefield ontology is evaluated based on various communication posts in war game scenarios. The battlefield ontology is expected to assist the process of quick and accurate command decisions in convoluted battlefield situations.

  • W3C has developed the RDF standard for utilizing ontology in Web applications. This paper presents extracting, storing, and applying ontology on product data. The design and tooling information included in STEP-NC files is focused as an example. By analyzing the relationship among the product data, the RDF schema is designed first. Based on the schema ontology if extracted and stored in XML files. As an application of the stored ontology, we can reconfigure the sitemap of product data repositories. In this example, the users can select the view that he or she is interested in (e.g. product, tool, person). With such various views of an product data repository, the users can access the specific data more effectively.
