  • The information systems in the most enterprise environments are distributed locally and are comprised with various heterogeneous data sources, so that it is difficult to obtain necessary and integrated information for supporting user decision. For solving 'this problems efficiently, it provides uniform interface to users and constructed database systems between heterogeneous systems make a consistence each independence and need to provide transparency like one interface. This paper presents XMDR that consists of category, standard ontology, location ontology and knowledge base. Standard ontology solves heterogeneous problem about naming, attributes, relations in data expression. Location ontology is a mediator that connects each legacy systems. Knowledge base defines the relation for sharing glossary. Adaptive retrieve proposes integrated retrieve system through reflecting site weight by location ontology, information sharing of various forms of knowledge base and integration and propose conceptual domain model about how to share unstructured knowledge.

  • Recently, the issue of efficient power management in datacenters as a part of green computing has gained prominence. For realizing efficient power management, effective power monitoring and analysis must be conducted for servers in a datacenter. However, an administrator should know the exact structure of the datacenter and its associated databases, and is required to analyze relationships among the observed data. This is because according to previous monitoring approaches, servers are usually managed using only databases. In addition, it is not possible to monitor data that are not indicated in databases. To overcome these drawbacks, we proposed an ontology-based monitoring approach. We constructed domain ontology for management servers at a datacenter, and mapped observed data onto the constructed domain ontology by using semantic annotation. Moreover, we defined query creation rules and server state rules. To demonstrate the proposed approach, we designed an ontology based monitoring system architecture, and constructed a knowledge system. Subsequently, we implemented the pilot system to verify its effectiveness.

  • Design process model represents how a design project proceeds. It encompasses the individual activities of design, their precedence relationships, and the relevant information related to each activity. In contrast to the conventional visual representation methods, ontology-based process model is machine-readable, and therefore it can be implemented in a software system without repeating the whole steps of coding, compiling and link. This paper proposes a framework for design process ontology that defines the relevant objects and attributes in the design process as well as the relationships between them. An example for injection mold design process is shown to explain the substance of the design process model.

  • Malicious insider threats have increased recently, and methods of the threats are diversifying every day. These insider threats are becoming a significant problem in corporations and governments today. From a technology standpoint, detecting potential insider threats is difficult in early stage because it is unpredictable. In order to prevent insider threats in early stage, it is necessary to collect all of insiders' data which flow in network systems, and then analyze whether the data are potential threat or not. However, analyzing all of data makes us spend too much time and cost. In addition, we need a large repository in order to collect and manage these data. To resolve this problem, we develop an indicator-based behavior ontology (IB2O) that allows us to understand and interpret insiders' data packets, and then to detect potential threats in early stage in network systems including social networks and company networks. To show feasibility of the behavior ontology, we developed a prototype platform called Insider Threat Detecting Extractor (ITDE) for detecting potential insider threats in early stage based on the behavior ontology. Finally, we showed how the behavior ontology would help detect potential inside threats in network system. We expect that the behavior ontology will be able to contribute to detecting malicious insider threats in early stage.

  • In order to derive hidden information (concept subsumption, concept satisfiability and realization) of OWL ontology, a number of OWL reasoners have been introduced. The most of these ontology reasoners were implemented using the tableau algorithm. However most reasoners simply report this information without providing a justification for any arbitrary entailment and unsatisfiable concept derived from OWL ontologies. The purpose of this paper is to investigate an optimized method for non-deterministic rule of the tableau algorithm and finding axioms to cause inconsistency in ontology. In this paper, therefore, we propose an optimized method for non-deterministic rule and finding axiom to cause inconsistency using NATMS. In the first place, we introduce Dependency Directed Backtracking to deal non-deterministic rule, a tableau-based decision procedure to find unsatisfiable axiom Furthermore we propose an improved method adapting NATMS.

  • In recent years, service discovery is one of the major technologies of home networks which head for a pervasive computing environment. However, existing service discovery techniques are difficult to understand semantics, and they only provide syntactic level service matching. To solve these problems, we have designed and developed ontology for semantic service discovery. Our ontology could enrich the amount of devices and services representations with semantics, and the relation of devices and service could be efficiently described through primitive service. For representing context information of devices, we describe attributes of device including location information, device status and etc. To determine whether the developed ontology can be applied to service discovery systems, we have implemented a semantic service discovery system by extension of the existing Jini lookup service. Also, we have evaluated our ontology with associated software environment according to some experiment scenarios, and have proved the usefulness of our ontology-based semantic service discovery system.

  • Currently, there are many simple searches for local culture and tourism, but systematic information retrieval using ontology technology is weak. The keyword-based search, which is an existing search method, derives a search result that is different from a user's wanted intention. On the other hand, semantic search using ontology constructs shows the information related to the search term by creating a relation between words and words. Therefore, when tourists search for cultural and tourist attractions in the area, they provide information that includes meaning relevance in the search results. If the ontology provides information on the culture, sightseeing area, transportation, Can be more easily grasped. In this paper, we propose an ontology-based retrieval system based on culture and tourist sites utilizing public institutions database by using mobile application by extending search system which relied only on existing internal database to provide accurate and reliable information to users. This efficient structure of the ontology makes it possible to provide information suitable for the user quickly and accurately.

  • As the Web technologies and wired/wireless network are improved and various new multimedia services are introduced recently, need for searching multimedia including video data has been much increasing, The previous approaches for multimedia retrieval, however, do not make use of the relationships among semantic concepts contained in multimedia contents in an efficient way and provide only restricted search results, This paper proposes a multimedia retrieval system exploiting semantic relevancy of multimedia contents based on a domain ontology, We show the effectiveness of the proposed system by experiments on a prototype system we have developed. The proposed multimedia retrieval system can extend a given search keyword based on the relationships among the semantic concepts in the ontology and can find a wide range of multimedia contents having semantic relevancy to the input keyword. It also presents the results categorized by the semantic meaning and relevancy to the keyword derived from the ontology. Independency of domain ontology with respect to metadata on the multimedia contents is preserved in the proposed system architecture.

  • This paper proposes a system to translate an RDB into an OWL ontology which enables the users to navigate the ontology in GUI. In order to accomplish the goals mentioned previously, the system overcame two difficulties. First, our system defines a new mapping algorithm to map between DB elements and ontology ones. Comparing with existing solutions, our algorithm is able to generate ontologies from more DB structures. Second, our system provides the same data generated by a reasoner to the users. Note that this operation does not load ABox ontology on a reasoner. In addition, Tableau-based reasoners have the tractability problem on a large ABox (e.g., large ABoxes translated from DBs practically cannot be served). To solve this, our system internally runs SQL queries to retrieve the same data as the one from a reasoner every time ABox elements are queried.

  • The development of Semantic Web basically requires knowledge which is induced by the formalization and semantization of information, and thus ontology should be introduced as a knowledgization tool. URI(Uniform Resource Identifier) is an indispensible scheme to uniquely indicate individuals on ontology. However, it is difficult to find the use cases of identifiers or URIs in real data sets including science & technology publications. This paper describes the method to construct, manage, and serve reference information based on URI which is a crucial component on establishing national R&D reference information ontology. We expect the reference information which was acquired from about 7,000 proceeding papers would be adopted to Semantic Web applications such as researcher network analysis and outcome statistics.
