  • The O2O store model dissolves the boundaries between online and offline platforms, providing significant convenience to customers. To effectively operate such platforms, small business owners must provide necessary information in digital format. Specifically, the process of digitizing Korean menus manually can lead to multiple issues, and the use of OCR technology often results in high error rates due to the low accuracy in recognizing Korean. In response, this paper proposes an enhanced OCR model based on the popular EasyOCR framework, aimed at improving the recognition accuracy of Korean. The proposed model integrates the structural advantages of VGG and ResNet, and incorporates an attention mechanism to significantly improve the recognition performance of Korean. Moreover, experimental results indicate that the proposed model achieved approximately a 3.5% improvement in accuracy and around a 1% improvement in both confidence score and normalized edit distance compared to EasyOCR. Therefore, this demonstrates that the proposed method effectively addresses the existing challenges.

  • As a dual-degree program/exchange student program becomes widespread, the faculty and students consisting of a course are being globalized. Recently, there has been an online or blended learning-based course, which is evolved from a conventional offline course. However, the course has no consideration of a dual-degree program or exchange student program because it is limited to a domestic university. To create and manage a global course, there have several of difficulties in the aspects of cost or effectiveness. As a solution to tackle them, it is necessary to do research on providing blended global courses with a fusion approach of online and offline. In this paper, we studied and presented a model of blended global courses. To create and maintain overseas scholar-oriented courses, we devised eight types of blended global courses depedning on their opening time and the cooperative relation between online and offline and made their comparative analysis. The blended global course proposed in this paper can be applied to cultivating global human resources in universities.

  • The e-commerce market faces significant credit risks due to the complexity of the industry and information asymmetries. Therefore, credit risk has started to stymie the growth of e-commerce. However, there is no reliable system for evaluating the creditworthiness of e-commerce companies. Therefore, this paper constructs a credit risk evaluation index system that comprehensively considers the online and offline behavior of online retail enterprises, including 15 indicators that reflect online credit risk and 15 indicators that reflect offline credit risk. This paper establishes an integration method based on a fuzzy integral support vector machine, which takes the factor analysis results of the credit risk evaluation index system of online retail enterprises as the input and the credit risk evaluation results of online retail enterprises as the output. The classification results of each sub-classifier and the importance of each sub-classifier decision to the final decision have been taken into account in this method. Select the sample data of 1500 online retail loan customers from a bank to test the model. The empirical results demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms a single SVM and traditional SVMs aggregation technique via majority voting in terms of classification accuracy, which provides a basis for banks to establish a reliable evaluation system.

  • Typical anomaly detection algorithms are trained by using prior data. Thus the batch learning based algorithms cause inevitable performance degradation when characteristics of newly incoming normal data change over time. We propose an online anomaly detection algorithm which can consider the gradual characteristic changes of incoming normal data. The proposed algorithm based on one-class classification model includes both offline and online learning procedures. In offline learning procedure, the algorithm learns the prior data to be close to centroid of the latent space and then updates the centroid of the latent space incrementally by new incoming data. In the online learning, the algorithm continues learning by using the updated centroid. Through experiments using public underwater acoustic data, the proposed online anomaly detection algorithm takes only approximately 2 % additional learning time for the incremental centroid update and learning. Nevertheless, the proposed algorithm shows 19.10 % improvement in Area Under the receiver operating characteristic Curve (AUC) performance compared to the offline learning model when new incoming normal data comes.

  • The rapid advancement of digital technology and the COVID-19 pandemic have significantly accelerated the growth of online commerce, highlighting the need for support mechanisms that enable small business owners to effectively respond to these market changes. In response, this paper presents a foundational technology leveraging the Online to Offline (O2O) strategy to automatically capture products displayed on retail shelves and utilize these images to create virtual stores. The essence of this research lies in precisely identifying and recognizing the location and names of displayed products, for which a single-class-targeted, lightweight model based on YOLOv8, named ESD-YOLOv8, is proposed. The detected products are identified by their names through feature-point-based technology, equipped with the capability to swiftly update the system by simply adding photos of new products. Through experiments, product name recognition demonstrated an accuracy of 74.0%, and position detection achieved a performance with an F2-Score of 92.8% using only 0.3M parameters. These results confirm that the proposed method possesses high performance and optimized efficiency.

  • This study intends to analyze the learning effect of asynchronous online classes used in education fields around the world after the COVID-19 pandemic. To this end, we compared and analyzed the lecture evaluation and final exam questions of the HTML5 web programming course, which was conducted offline in 2019 and asynchronously online in 2020 due to COVID-19. As a result of the analysis, no significant difference was drawn between the two teaching methods in the lecture evaluation score and final exam score. However, contrary to concerns about the application of online classes to the entire curriculum, the lecture evaluation and final exam scores of the video-based online classes were high, suggesting the possibility that online classes could be more effective than offline classes if well organized and managed in the future.
