This paper presents a hybrid stochastic deterministic multi-timescale scheduling (SDMS) approach for generation scheduling of a power grid. SDMS considers flexible resource options including conventional generation flexibility in a chance-constrained day-ahead scheduling optimization (DASO). The prime objective of the DASO is the minimization of the daily production cost in power systems with high penetration scenarios of variable generation. Furthermore, energy storage is scheduled in an hourly-ahead deterministic real-time scheduling optimization (RTSO). DASO simulation results are used as the base starting-point values in the hour-ahead online rolling RTSO with a 15-minute time interval. RTSO considers energy storage as another source of grid flexibility, to balance out the deviation between predicted and actual net load demand values. Numerical simulations, on the IEEE RTS test system with high wind penetration levels, indicate the effectiveness of the proposed SDMS framework for managing the grid flexibility to meet the net load demand, in both day-ahead and real-time timescales. Results also highlight the adequacy of the framework to adjust the scheduling, in real-time, to cope with large prediction errors of wind forecasting.

Objectives The purpose of this study was to survey the status of clinical use of a computerized tongue diagnosis system (CTDS) Methods We searched domestic/international articles using the CTDS from online medical databases including OASIS, NDSL and pubmed. We selected articles on clinical application or reliability of CTDS but excluded articles on mechanical design or software programming for developing a new CTDS. Finally we found 15 articles and classified the articles according to the study purpose. Results Out of the 15 articles, 8 were focused on the clinical application including halitosis, cold/heat syndrome, lung cancer, xerostomia etc. Other 5 articles were aimed at evaluating and improving reliability of CTDS. The other 2 articles were studied for development of differential diagnostic criteria on tongue coating thickness. Conclusion We found out that until now the researches on clinical application of CTDS mainly had been performed for producing a variety of CTDSs. Considering the importance of the tongue color in the traditional Korean medicine, we suggest that at first standard operating procedure for CTDS be developed and researches to develop differential diagnostic criteria on tongue body/coating color be performed and then explore its applications.

Todays, computers in business world are potent facilitators that most companies could not without them, while they are only tools. They offer extremely efficient means of communication, particularly when connected to Internet. What I stress in this article is the risks accompanied by e-commerce rather than the advantages of Internet or e-commerce. The management of e-commerce companies, therefore, should keep in mind that the benefit of e-commerce through the Internet are accompanied by enhanced and new risks, cyber risks or e-commerce risks. For example, companies are exposed to computer system breakdown and business interruption risks owing to traditional and physical risks such as theft and fire etc, computer programming errors and defect softwares and outsider's attack such as hacking and virus. E-commerce companies are also exposed to tort liabilities owing to defamation, the infringement of intellectual property such as copyright, trademark and patent right, negligent misrepresent and breach of confidential information or privacy infringement. In this article, I would like to suggest e-commerce insurance or cyber liability insurance as a means of risk management rather than some technical devices, because there is not technically perfect defence against cyber risks. But e-commerce insurance has some gaps between risks confronted by companies and coverage needed by them, because it is at most 6 or 7 years since it has been introduced to market. Nevertheless, in my opinion, e-commerce insurance has offered the most perfect defence against cyber risks to e-commerce companies up to now.

본 연구에서는 자원재활용에 대한 이해를 돕기 위해, 어린이들의 흥미를 유발시키고 과학적인 호기심을 충족시키는 방식으로 3D 그래픽 편집기와 DirectX 프로그래밍 도구를 이용하여 3D 온라인 레이싱 게임을 개발하였다. 단순히 게임에 참여하는 것만으로도 자연스럽게 재활용자원의 수집과 분류 과정을 체험할 수 있으며, 애니메이션 기법으로 제작된 재활용 공정 콘텐츠를 학습할 수 있도록 하였다. 특히, 한글뿐만 아니라 영어 버전을 동시에 제공함으로써 해외에서도 교육 및 홍보 매체로 활용될 수 있으며 해외기관과의 교류가 가능하도록 하였다. 결과적으로 어린이들이 직접 즐길 수 있는 게임의 형태로 개발되어 자원재활용에 대한 교육용 콘텐츠로 활용될 수 있다.

온라인 게임 산업의 성장과 함께 해킹 툴의 사용은 날로 증가하고 있다. 해킹 툴은 프로그래밍 지식이 없는 유저들이 해킹과 동일한 기능을 사용할 수 있도록 해주기 때문에 온라인 게임서비스에 있어 많은 문제점을 야기한다. 특히, P2P 네트워크 기반의 FPS 게임은 해킹에 대한 취약성을 가지고 있다. 본 논문은 인도네시아 Point Blank의 사례를 통해 FPS 게임의 치팅 유형을 분석하고, 게임 업체들이 해킹에 대한 효과적인 대처 능력을 갖출 수 있도록 대응방안의 우선순위를 제시하였다.

We propose an optical-based measuring instrument of catenary system in electric railway. This system was made to utilize line scan camera as inspecting system to measure the stagger and height of overhead contact wire in railway and composed with optical type source and FPGA-based image acquisition system with PCI slot. Vision acquisition software has been used for the application to programming interface for image acquisition, display, and storage with a frequency of sampling. To check the validity of our approach for the intended application, we monitored height and stagger in the overhead wire of a high-speed catenary system in Korea. The proposed optical-based measuring instrument to measure the contact wire geometry such as the hight and stagger shows promising on-field applications for online condition motoring. We expect that a new generation of real-time instruments with demanding various conditions motoring requirement in railway can be easily integrated into optical-based measuring instrument system.

This paper presents an internet-based self-learning educational system which can be enhancing efficiency in the learning process of Java language. The proposed self-learning educational system is called Java Web Player(JWP), which is a Java application program and is executable through Java Web Start technologies. In this paper, three important sequential learning processes : concept learning process, programming practice process and assessment process are integrated in the proposed JWP using Java Web Start technologies. This JWP enables the learners to achieve efficient and interesting self-learning since the learning process is designed to enhance the multimedia capabilities on the basis of educational technologies. Also, online voice presentation and its related texts together with moving images are synchronized for efficient language learning process. Furthermore, a simple/useful compiler is included in the JWP for providing language practice environment such as coding, editing, executing and debugging Java source files. Finally repeated practice can make the learners to understand easily the key concepts of Java language. Simple multiple choices are given suddenly to the learners while they are studying through the JWP and the test results are displayed on the message box.

High-performance computing (HPC) is the underpinning for many of today's most exciting new research areas, to name a few, from big science to new ways of fighting the disease, to artificial intelligence (AI), to big data analytics, to quantum computing. This report captures the summary of a 9-day program of presentations, keynotes, and workshops at the SC20 conference, one of the most prominent events on sharing ideas and results in HPC technology R&D. Because of the exceptional situation caused by COVID-19, the conference was held entirely online from 11/9 to 11/19 2020, and interestingly caught more attention on using HPC to make a breakthrough in the area of vaccine and cure for COVID-19. The program brought together 103 papers from 21 countries, along with 163 presentations in 24 workshop sessions. The event has covered several key areas in HPC technology, including new memory hierarchy and interconnects for different accelerators, evaluation of parallel programming models, as well as simulation and modeling in traditional science applications. Notably, there was increasing interest in AI and Big Data analytics as well. With this summary of the recent HPC trend readers may find useful information to guide the R&D directions for challenging new technologies and applications in the area of HPC.

The dynamic network state and the mobility of the terminals make the service function chain (SFC) orchestration mechanisms based on static and deterministic assumptions hard to be applied in SDN/NFV mobile edge computing networks. Designing dynamic and online SFC orchestration mechanism can greatly improve the execution efficiency of compute-intensive and resource-hungry applications in mobile edge computing networks. In order to increase the overall profit of service provider and reduce the resource cost, the system running time is divided into a sequence of time slots and a dynamic orchestration scheme based on an improved column generation algorithm is proposed in each slot. Firstly, the SFC dynamic orchestration problem is formulated as an integer linear programming (ILP) model based on layered graph. Then, in order to reduce the computation costs, a column generation model is used to simplify the ILP model. Finally, a two-stage heuristic algorithm based on greedy strategy is proposed. Four metrics are defined and the performance of the proposed algorithm is evaluated based on simulation. The results show that our proposal significantly provides more than 30% reduction of run time and about 12% improvement in service deployment success ratio compared to the Viterbi algorithm based mechanism.
