Authorization Model with Provisions and Obligations in XML

  • With the growing acceptance of XML technologies, XML will be the most common tool for all data manipulation and data transmission. Meeting security requirements for privacy, confidentiality and integrity is essential in order to move business online and it is important for security to be integrated with XML solutions. Many policies require certain conditions to be satisfied and actions to be performed before or after a decision is made. Binary yes/no decision to an access request is not enough for many applications. These issues were addressed and formalized as provisions and obligations by Betti et Al. In this paper, we propose an authorization model with provisions and obligations in XML. We introduce a formal definition of authorization policy and the issues involving obligation discussed by Betti et Al. We use the formal model as a basis to develop an authorization model in XML. We develop DTDs in XML for main components such as authorization request, authorization policy and authorization decision. We plan to develop an authorization system using the model proposed.

High School Students' Perceptions of Mathematics Teachers' Implementation of UDL-Based Practices and Technology in Mathematics Classes

  • The purpose of this survey-based study was to investigate high school students' perceptions of mathematics teachers' implementation of Universal Design for Learning (UDL)-based practices and technology in their mathematics classes in 2017. A total of 303 high school students in South Korea participated in this online survey on teachers' use of technology for instructional practices, the frequency of technology tool use, and the meeting of UDL guidelines in mathematics instruction. According to frequency analysis, high school students generally perceived their teachers' mathematics teaching as somewhat positive in providing multiple means of representation, action and expression, and engagement. However, mathematics teachers' implementation of technology tools in their mathematics classes was generally limited. This study indicated significant and positive relationships between variables regarding the use of technology tools and teachers' efforts to follow the UDL guidelines. Applying the Chi-squared test, we further examined how each survey result differed according to high school students' academic achievements and grade levels.

  • 지속되는 팬데믹과 함께 비대면 시대가 개막 되었다. 따라서 사람과 사람사이 접촉을 최소화 하면서, 동시에 생활과 작업의 효율을 보장하는 시스템에 대한 수요가 사회의 이슈로 떠오르게 되었다. 이런 시대적 배경에 발 맞춰 회사생활 또한 급속한 변화를 이루어내고 있다. 그중에서 컴퓨터 비전과 그래픽스 기술의 눈부신 발전과 함께 온라인과 가상공간에서 업무를 보려고 하는 시도가 좋은 대안으로 세간의 주목을 받고 있다. 본 논문에서는 가상공간에서 미팅을 진행 할 수 있는 가상 온라인 미팅 시스템과 이런 시스템을 구성하는데 제일 중요한 과제인 실감 3차원 아바타를 생성하는 방법을 제안한다.

Exploring Factors Affecting Major Persistence and Career Decision of Engineering Students through FGI Analysis (FGI 분석을 통한 공과대학생의 전공 유지와 진로 결정의 영향 요인 탐색)

  • This research aims to explore the factors affecting engineering students' major persistence and career decision. To achieve this goal, the experiences and perceptions of engineering students and other stakeholders regarding the factors influencing engineering students' major persistence and career decision were analyzed through online focus group interviews (FGI). The analysis of the interviews resulted in the identification of seven categories, which include meeting with older alumni, team project experiences, and internship experiences as factors influencing major persistence. Additionally, engineering interest, engineering self-efficacy, employment rates, economic factors, and limitations in women engineers' career development were identified as factors affecting career decision. Based on these findings, it is expected that engineering education will develop plans that focus on supporting the major persistence and career development of engineering students, thereby contributing to the future direction of engineering education.

  • Gadoxetate magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is widely used in clinical practice for liver imaging. For optimal use, we must understand both its advantages and limitations. This article is the outcome of an online advisory board meeting and subsequent discussions by a multidisciplinary group of experts on liver diseases across the Asia-Pacific region, first held on September 28, 2020. Here, we review the technical considerations for the use of gadoxetate, its current role in the management of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), and its relevance in consensus guidelines for HCC imaging diagnosis. In the latter part of this review, we examine recent evidence evaluating the impact of gadoxetate on clinical outcomes on a continuum from diagnosis to treatment decision-making and follow-up. In conclusion, we outline the potential future roles of gadoxetate MRI based on an evolving understanding of the clinical utility of this contrast agent in the management of patients at risk of, or with, HCC.

Inquiry based Online Contents Development for Elementary Science Class (초등학교 과학교과의 온라인 탐구형 콘텐츠 개발)

  • This study is to design, develope, and deploy of e-learning inquiry based content in elementary science class. First, this study analyzed related literature review, case studies, and inquiry based class models for seeking better applicable design and development modes. From focus group meeting, experts discussed the inquiry content design ideas for elementary students for science class. This study finally established its own inquiry design mode for online science class with the flow of understanding of problem, sep up hypothesis, problem solving, and solution analysis. The developed content was deployed in real classroom setting to see how students received the contents and how well they processed the learning activities. We found that inquiry based online content, especially when applied to science subject, can be effective in students interests and their motivations. We also observed that there were a few managerial errors such as detailed lesson guidance and tutor support for students activities. This study concluded that inquiry based online contents should be designed considering students interests based on learning subjects and also developed in terms of students interests and strong motivation as well. We suggest that related research should be expanded toward to other subject than science and various students age groups.

  • Current video service market doesn't satisfy the users' needs who want to find new and interesting contents despite the vast amount of contents. Now it is continuously necessary to Study on technology and using experience is continuously required in online video service area to stimulate the watching motivation efficiently with such as recommendation or promotion. One of efficient ways of increasing the using motivation is to give the users pleasure when they use the services. This study focused on 'unexpected funny finding' as a strategy of providing pleasure of using. It was believed that it could increase the pleasure of using the service, if serendipity, which means unexpected pleasure, accidental finding such as finding a beautiful $caf{\acute{e}}$ or meeting a friend at a certain place unexpectedly, is applied. This study defines the serendipity as 'contents that give unexpected pleasure' at the online video environment. First it theoretically extracted the various characteristics of serendipity through reading many books. Next it verified the other concept of serendipity through the diary of users' survey to additionally extract the characteristics of serendipity at video environment that are hard to find in books. It formed estimation items for the characteristics of the extracted serendipity and tested them in youtube to confirm the characteristics of serendipity being found in video service and observe potential factors that make it. As a result if verified and confirmed four factors that cause serendipity at video environment. This study could be used as basic data to understand the concept of serendipity. It has an academic meaning in the point that it could be a useful reference for the future study that analyzes the role or effect of serendipity at IT area including online video service.

Educational Ministries in Korean Churches amid the COVID-19 Pandemic (코로나 시기 한국교회의 교육목회에 관한 사례연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the direction of future Christian ministry by examining the educational/pastoral ministries of Korean churches during the COVID-19 period. The study used the case study method, where pastors from four different churches were the primary sources of data. Although each church has its own unique ministry, special early morning prayer meetings, family worship services, family Vacation Bible Schools, Bible writing and reading programs, and on-line discipleship training programs were common. In addition, each church implemented special programs that reflected the characteristics and needs of the church, like a talk show, visible radio, surfing meeting, and book-making of Bible manuscripts. Based on these results, ministry programs reflecting the church's pastoral philosophy, strengthening community consciousness, restoring the spiritual function of the family, utilizing online teaching methods, and psychological support for the underprivileged are proposed. In addition, the recovery of Christian publicity and the help from denomination or specialized institutions to develop the programs and online materials were suggested. Through this study, the direction of educational/pastoral ministry in a time of COVID-19 and post-COVID-19 is proposed.

A Design of Participative Problem Based Learning (PBL) Class in Metaverse (메타버스에서의 참여형 PBL 수업 설계)

  • Recently, as per a representative education method to develop core capabilities (such as critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity) problem based learning (PBL) has been widely adopted in universities. Two important features of PBL are 'collaboration between team members' and 'participation based self-directed learning'. These two features should be satisfied in online education, although it is difficult due to the limitation on space and time in the COVID-19 pandemic. This paper presents a new design of PBL class in Metaverse, based on improving the online PBL class operated in the previous semesters in the H university. In the proposed PBL class, students are able to display materials (e.g., image, pdf, video files) in 3D virtual space, that are related to problem solving. The 3D virtual space is called gallery in this paper. The concept of gallery allows for active participation of students. In addition, the gallery can be used as a tool for collaborative meeting or for final presentation. If possible, the new design of PBL class will be applied and its effectiveness will be analyzed.

  • This study aims to provide insights for developing innovative products, based on reviews from females aged 30 to 70 who bought cosmetic cushions via TV home shopping. Analyzing 200,000 reviews with Selenium and NLP techniques, we found the main audience is in their 50s and 60s, prioritizing radiance, blemish and wrinkle coverage, and adherence. Notably, products with appealing designs were preferred, especially for gifting among relatives and friends. The proposed innovation is Korea's first AI-recommended cushion, utilizing NLP to match customer needs. Key ingredient recommendations include S.Acamella extract and AHA components, chosen for their perceived benefits and consumer preference. The research also highlights the importance of product aesthetics and gift potential, suggesting marketing strategies should emphasize these aspects to appeal to the target demographic. This approach aims to guide product development and marketing towards meeting consumer expectations in the cosmetic cushion industry, making products more personalized and gift-worthy.
