  • This paper focuses on the actuation system combined with a piezoelectric transducer and an electric circuit, which leads to a new insight; the electric actuation system is equivalent to mechanical variable-stiffness actuation systems. By controlling the switch in the circuit, the electric status of the piezoelectric transducer is changed, and consequently a variable-stiffness mechanism is achieved on the electric actuator. This proposed actuator features a shift in the equilibrium point of force, while conventional electrically-induced variable-stiffness actuators feature the variation of the stiffness value. We intensively focus on the equilibrium shift in the actuation system, which has been neglected. The stiffness of the variable-stiffness actuator is periodically modulated by controlling the switch, to suppress the vibration of the system in an open-loop way. It is proved that this electric actuator is equivalent to its mechanical counterpart, and that the electrical version has some practical advantages over the mechanical one. Furthermore, another kind of electrically-induced variable-stiffness actuator, using an energy-recycling mechanism is also discussed from the viewpoint of open-loop vibration control. Extensive numerical simulations provide comprehensive assessment on both electrically-induced variable-stiffness actuators employed for open-loop vibration control.

  • The wireless sensor networks (WSNs) became a very essential tool in borders and military zones surveillance, for this reason specific applications have been developed. Surveillance is usually accomplished through the deployment of nodes in a random way providing heterogeneous topologies. However, the process of the identification of all nodes located on the network's outer edge is very long and energy-consuming. Before any other activities on such sensitive networks, we have to identify the border nodes by means of specific algorithms. In this paper, a solution is proposed to solve the problem of energy and time consumption in detecting border nodes by means of node selection. This mechanism is designed with several starter nodes in order to reduce time, number of exchanged packets and then, energy consumption. This method consists of three phases: the first one is to detect triggers which serve to start the mechanism of boundary nodes (BNs) detection, the second is to detect the whole border, and the third is to exclude each BN from the routing tables of all its neighbors so that it cannot be used for the routing.

  • Purpose : The study was designed to investigate analysis of kinematics of lower extremity in healthy adults during walking with external loads on trunk. Methods : Fifteen healthy adults were recruited and The subjects provided written and informed consent prior to participation. They walked on a ten-meter walkway at a self-selected pace with loads of 0, 5, 10, and 15kg. They completed three trials in each condition and kinematic changes were measured. A three-dimensional motion analysis system was used to analyze lower extremity kinematic data. The data collected by each way of walking task and analyzed by One-way ANOVA. Results : There were significant differences in hip and knee joint on saggittal plane at initial contact and preswing, and significant differences in ankle joint on transverse plane at preswing. Conclusion : These findings revealed that increased external loads were changed joint angles and influenced postural strategies because of kinematic mechanism and future studies is recommended to find out prevention from damage of activities of daily living.

  • Purpose: The study was designed to investigate the effects of landing heights on muscle activities and ground reaction force during drop landing. Methods: Sixteen healthy adults were recruited along with their written informed consent. They performed a drop-landing task at the height of 20, 40, and 60cm. They completed three trials in each condition and biomechanical changes were measured. The data collected by each way of landing task and analyzed by One-way ANOVA. Ground reaction forces were measured by force flate, muscle activities measured by MP150 system. Results: There were significant differences in ground reaction forces, and significant increases in muscle activities of tibialis anterior, medial gastrocnemius and biceps femoris with landing heights. Conclusion: These findings revealed that heights of landing increases risk factors of body damage because of biomechanical mechanism and future studies should focus on prevention from damage of external conditions.

  • Among the different cardiovascular disorders (CVDs), the activation of platelets is a necessary step. Based on this knowledge, therapeutic treatments for CVDs that target the disruption of platelet activation are proving to be worthwhile. One such substance, a bioactive 6,7-dihydroxy derived from coumarin, is 6,7-Dihydroxy-2H-1-benzopyran-2-one (esculetin). This compound has demonstrated several pharmacological effects on CVDS as well as various other disorders including diabetes, obesity, and renal failure. In various reports, esculetin and its effect has been explored in experimental mouse models, human platelet activation, esculetin-inhibited collagen, and washed human platelets exhibiting aggregation via arachidonic acid. Yet, esculetin affected aggregation with agonists like U46619 or thrombin in no way. This study investigated esculetin and how it affected human platelet aggregation activated through U46619. Ultimately, we confirmed that esculetin had an effect on the aggregation of human platelets when induced from U46619 and clarified the mechanism. Esculetin interacts with the downregulation of both phosphoinositide 3-kinase/Akt and mitogen-activated protein kinases, important phosphoproteins that are involved in activating platelets and their signaling process. The effects of esculetin reduced TXA2 production, phospholipase A2 activation, and platelet secretion of intracellular granules (ATP/serotonin), ultimately causing inhibition of overall platelet aggregation. These results clearly define the effect of esculetin in inhibiting platelet activity and thrombus formation in humans.

  • Lean premixed combustion has been considered as one of the promising solutions for the reduction of NOx emissions from gas turbines. However, unstable combustion of lean premixed flow becomes a real challenge on the way to design a reliable, highly efficient dry low NOx gas turbine combustor. Contrary to a conventional diffusion type combustion system, characteristics of premixed combustion significantly depend on a premixing degree of combusting flow. Combustion behavior in terms of stability has been studied in a model gas turbine combustor burning natural gas and air. Incompleteness of premixing is identified as significant perturbation source for inducing unstable combustion. Application of a simple convection time lag theory can only predict instability modes but cannot determine whether instability occurs or not. Low frequency perturbations are observed at the onset of instability and believed to initiate the coupling between heat release rate and pressure fluctuations.

This paper is the security structure that defined in a WAP forum and security and watches all kinds of password related technology related to the existing authentication system. It looks up weakness point on security with a problem on the design that uses wireless public key based structure and transmission hierarchical security back of a WAP forum, and a server client holds for user authentication of an application layer all and all, and it provides one counterproposal. Therefore, We offer authentication way solution that connected X.509 V3 with using WIM for complement an authentication protocol KerberosV5 and its disadvantages.

  • A 7-year-old boy, diagnosed with an arachnoid cyst and subdural effusion on initial MRI, was admitted with left limb weakness and no history of head trauma. A subsequent follow-up MRI showed different stages of hematoma within multilayered enhancing membranes and in the arachnoid cyst, which was separated by the cerebrospinal fluid cleft. Craniotomy and fenestration of the cyst wall and hematoma removal were performed. The patient was diagnosed as a having a hemorrhagic rupture of an arachnoid cyst into the intradural space, probably via some one-way valve-like defect, based on the MRI and surgical findings. The MRI features and possible mechanism of this rare disease are discussed within the literature review.
