  • The motion of an workpiece to be manipulated is determined by the forces applied to the workpiece. During the contact between the robot hand and the workpiece, impulsive forces may dominate all other forces, and determine the ultimate success or failure of a task. Therefore, one of the important problems in the robot hands is the control of the initial impact force. In this paper, the problem of the force control of robot hand under system with contact force is presented. The principle of energy can be applied in the modelling of the impact force. In order to achieve stable contact and avoid bounces and vibrations, VSS is adopted in the design of the contact force controller. Some simulations are carried out for a pushing operation to control the contact force.

  • Investigating students' lived mathematical experiences presents dual challenges for the researcher. On the one hand, we must respect that students' experiences are not directly accessible to us and are likely very different from our own experiences. On the other hand, we might not want to rely upon the students' own characterizations of what constitutes mathematics because these characterizations could be limited to the formal products students learn in school. I suggest a characterization of mathematics as objectified action, which would lead the researcher to focus on students' operations-mental actions organized as objects within structures so that they can be acted upon. Teachers' and researchers' models of these operations and structures can be used as a launching point for understanding students' experiences of mathematics. Teaching experiments and clinical interviews provide a means for the teacher-researcher to infer students' available operations and structures on the basis of their physical activity (including verbalizations) and to begin harmonizing with their mathematical experience.

  • This work is based on the experience of active and successful organic marketing initiatives, and aims to provide advice for genuine and practical sustainability. To make successful marketing possible we describe, on the one hand, the main challenges of the market and policy environment for organic marketing initiatives and, on the other hand, key factors for management. Management planning is a key issue for successful marketing and is therefore the focus of special attention in this work. This paper summarises and highlights those key factors which influence the operations of an organic marketing initiative. These include the role of key individuals, the role of innovation, the importance of strategic planning and clear objectives, the role of coherence, motivation and identity, brand policy, the role of networks, the importance of market research, public funding, economies of scale, systematized cooperation, hazards and risks in general.

  • The life of a mother undergoes a dramatic change after a child is diagnosed with cancer. The present study aimed to determine effects on the everyday life process and health status of mothers with children suffering from leukemia. This qualitative study was based on a grounded theory approach with sixteen mothers. The results indicate that after onset of disease in their children, they marginalized their own health and tied their identities to taking care of the child and keeping the child healthy by ignoring themselves, becoming imprisoned in a taking-care-of-the-child position, and trying very hard for seek balance and stability Enduring physical pressures on the one hand, and constantly attempting to achieve balance and stability in family processes on the other hand, gradually cause exhaustion. It seems that health care providers and nurses should pay much more attention to the health status of this group of mothers.

  • There are many differences in narrative delivery between common movies and Virtual Reality(VR) films due to their differences in the appreciation structure. In VR films, scene changes by cuts have hindered the immersion of the audience instead of promoting narrative delivery. There are a range of experiments on narratives and immersion to solve this issue in VR films. Floating Tent applies hand gestures and immersive effects found in game elements and does not disturb narrative delivery by setting proper spaces and employing a direction technique to enable the melting of narratives into the characteristics of the spaces. There are time limits to offsound and mission performance, and devices fit for apocalyptic spatial expressions are made through a program. One of measures for the increasingly growing interactive storytelling in VR films is effective immersion. In narrative delivery, it is important to consider spatial setting and immersion to enable active intervention into events for immersion rather than passive audience only supposed to watch characters' acting.

  • In this paper, we present an optimal hardware implementation for preprocessing of a person identification algorithm utilizing vein pattern of dorsal surface of hand. For the vein pattern recognition, the computational burden of the algorithm lies mainly in the preprocessing of the input images, especially in lowpass filtering. we could reduce the identification time to one tenth by hardware design of the lowpass filter compared to sequential computations. In terms of the computation accuracy, the simulation results show that the CSD code provided an optimized coefficient value with about 91.62% accuracy in comparison with the floating point implementation of current coefficient value of the lowpass filter. The post-simulation of a VHDL model has been performed by using the ModelSim$^{TM}$. The implemented chip operates at 20MHz and has the operational speed of 55.107㎳.㎳.

  • Conventional Korean tunnel portals require a lot of overburden as, fer static reasons, about 1.5 to 2.0 times the tunnel diameter is needed for the height in order to achieve a sufficient arching effect. Thus, considerable movement of earth and support constructions are required which lead to undesirably large changes of and damage to the environment. With a massively designed pipe roof, tunnels with little overburden can be built. For the effective construction of a pipe roof as an advancing safeguarding method, the following properties are indispensable: stability, insensitivity to settling and drilling accuracy. With the AT casing system a new pipe roof method has been developed which on the one hand entirely combines the properties mentioned last, and which on the other hand permits safe, economical and environmentally friendly construction of tunnels at low overburden heights of 3 to 6 m.

  • Recently, Public Design is being applied at many kinds of urban development. But the application is not carried out well owing to ambiguity of the object of plan. The object of the design and the role from it are based on defining of the realm and type of public design. So, it is necessary to study more about the realm and type of the public design in accordance with the context of the related space and region. Through the analysis of the public design, some points of conclusion have been attained. First, the realm and type of public design is to be more simplified than ever: public facilities and public medium. So, public facilities are to be oriented toward placeness on the one hand, and public medium is to be used for regional marketing on the other hand.

  • In this manuscript we study perturbed Newton-like methods for the solution of nonlinear operator equations in a Banach space and their discretized versions in connection with the mesh independence principle. This principle asserts that the behavior of the discretized process is asymptotically the same as that for the original iteration and consequently, the number of steps required by the two processes to converge to within a given tolerance is essentially the same. So far this result has been proved by others using Newton's method for certain classes of boundary value problems and even more generally by considering a Lipschitz uniform discretization. In some of our earlierpapers we extend these results to include Newton-like methods under more general conditions. However, all previous results assume that the iterates can be computed exactly. This is mot true in general. That in why we use perturbed Newton-like methods and even more general conditions. Our results, on the one hand, extend, and on the other hand, make more practical and applicable all previous results.

  • Occupational disease among typists such as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome(CTS) and tendonitis has increased along with rapid expansion of office automation. During typing, the posture can be defined as forearm pronation, ulnar abduction, wrist extension and finger flexion. The CTS results from awkward posture between forearm-wrist-hand and the keyboard arrangement. Therefore, ergonomic principles should be emphasized in keyboard design. The objective of the study is to improve keyboard design by analyzing anatomical posture of forearm and hand during typing. An experimental study was performed to investigate relationships between a keyboard and typing performance. Results showed that typing performance is dependent to angles and slopes of a keyboard. Statistical analysis indicated that the suggested ergonomic keyboard improved typing speed significantly(17%).
