A Study on the Effects of Flow on the Utilization of Mobile Phone Service (플로우 경험이 휴대폰 서비스 이용에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to segment the mobile phone users based on the flow types and to understand the differences in mobile phone usage behavior between the segmented groups. The 'flow' construct, which was introduced first in marketing by Hoffman and Novak[44], has been used as an important keyword for understanding consumer behavior on the World Wide Web. In this paper, we will try to use the flow aspect for the mobile market segmentation, which is one of the most fundamental tools for developing a successful marketing strategy on the mobile phone service market. We collected survey data from consumers and analyzed the data with the SPSS 12.0 package where we did ${\chi}^2$-test, factor analysis, one-way ANOVA and cluster analysis. Main results of this study are as follow. First, the flow types of the mobile phone users were classified into five types, which are named as the 'Flow' type, 'Apathy' type, 'Anxiety' type, 'Boredom' type, 'Control' type. Second, most of the results related to the usage of mobile phone service showed statistically significant differences between flow types. These findings suggest that the mobile phone service marketers should consider the various flow types of users and work out effective market segmentation strategies based on these consumer flow types.

  • In this paper, we describe a development of a Bluetooth Access Point for the WAN connection of home network devices. Especially, users can access the PSTN at home instead of expensive digital cellular network through the AP, using the 'one-phone', which is the Bluetooth enabled cellular phone. The simultaneous benchmark test about telephone service and LAN access service shows the perfect compatibility and reasonable performance of the access point. The one-phone service can become a convergence of wired and wireless communication through the AP.

  • This paper describes a IPv6 trial service provided by LG DACOM and discusses about the output of trial service. MIC has urged public organizations to introduce IPv6 technology into their network. As one of propelling policies, MIC and NIA launched some IPv6 trial project. LG DACOM, MIC's agent in doing IPv6 trial project, has selected three public organizations in order to deploy IPv6 based VoIP trial service. KMA, KISITI and MND gave out their different service requirements. In achieve this project we developed IPv6 supported voice IP phone, video IP phone, media gateway and IP-PBX. Furthermore, two KMA provincial offices adopted trial IP phone as working phone and replaced legacy PBX with IP-PBX. At the same time, public organizations introduced IPv6 technology into their local networks.

  • Mobile banking service has emerged as an important profit source for both banks and mobile phone service companies. However, the growth of the mobile banking service is behind the expectation of banks and mobile phone companies. One plausible explanation for this laggard diffusion of mobile banking may be the lack of consumers' initial trust on the service. Therefore, this study investigates the critical factors in building trust and intention to use mobile banking services. Our research results show that propensity-to-trust, structural assurance, and relative advantages of services have significant impacts on consumers' initial trust in mobile banking service Furthermore, initial trust in mobile banking service is a critical factor for adopting mobile banking services Contrary to our expectation, however, reputation of banks and mobile phone companies are not significant in attracting consumers to mobile banking services.

  • We development the service that teacher and parent can control the smart phone of student in school and home, the name is I_smart_keeper. The service is composed of server system, teacher's application, parent's application and student's application. The control of student's phone in school is operated by school timetable and GPS(Global Positioning System) in smart phone. The student's phone is operating one of six policy. The six policy is 'emergency call only', 'specific application only', 'call only', 'call and text only', 'all allowed' and 'all lock'. The teacher can change the current policy with his or her phone, That is a the temporary policy can be applied on a day. In school hours, teacher is able to instruct student using application appropriate to the teaching. If student is leaving school early and located outside school, the service do free the student's phone by GPS of her or his phone. We show the Smart Health Indicator (SHI)that analyse the pattern of student's phone habit and SHI will guide a desirable student's phone habit. In home, parent can control child's phone. The service will help the risk reduction of a robbery case due to keeping student's phone by teacher in class. Currently one elementary school's all student use I_smart_keeper and three elementary school is testing to some class. The teacher's impression was very good and they usually use I_smart_keeper for class in positive light. Survey results for students with higher satisfaction.

  • In this paper, we propose a real time video codec adapter for enabling video communications with terminals having a codec which is different from each other. When multimedia services are playing with an office service phone such as a video phone or software phone which has video capability, each terminal is not being considered to have optimized video or voice codec. So when a video phone with only one type of video codec is used in the video streaming service which requires another type of codec, the streaming service is not successful without codec transformation. The real time codec adapter in this paper provides a real time code transformation which enables communication services such as video conferencing between terminals which have different codec.

  • 최근에 낮은 가격과 전력을 내세워 응용서비스를 제공할 수 있는 Bluetooth를 탑재한 많은 무선 제품들이 출시되고 있다. 그러나 1Mbps의 저속, 다른 무선 기기들과의 상호 간섭과 호환성 문제 그리고 보안 문제 등 많은 제약 조건이 따름에도 불구하고 이동전화, 컴퓨터, PDA 등 근거리 무선접속을 사용하고 있는 가정이나 회사의 전화나 컴퓨터들과 어떻게 서로 쉽게 연결될 수 있을까에 대한 꾸준한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. Bluetooth 무선 기술은 음성 및 데이터 전송을 위한 단거리 일대다중 무선 주파수 통신을 위해 제안된 무선통신 기술이다. Bluetooth는 2.4GHz ISM Band에서 동작하며 약 10m 범위의 다양한 이동 장치와 휴대용 장치를 위한 저가격의 기저대역 무선 접속을 제공한다. 본 논문에서 Bluetooth의 기술적 측면을 알아보고 이를 이용해 현재 시장에 출시된 Bluetooth 기기중 하나인 One Phone을 소개하려 한다. 또한 Bluetooth의 발전 가능성에 대하여 알아본다.

  • An estimated 1 billion mobile phone were sold globally in the year 2006. In Korea, people watch television 3.17 hours in a day. Television isn't what it used to be. Digital TV provides both interactivity and high definition. Mobile phone also transferred from 2G to 3G or 3.5G. This means the complexity of TV and mobile phone is increased, design of user interface is more difficult. Unlike the personal computer industry, TV and mobile phone industries have no standard user interface. A comparative study for user interface between TV and mobile phone is studied. User, task, system are analyzed in requirement analysis. User interface model and interaction are also analyzed between TV and mobile phone. This study provides some insights for user interface design. First, the UI designer have to consider another products because one user using one product at the same time using another products. Experience for one product affects that for another product. Second, TV and mobile phone show very similar pattern, especially interaction task and input interaction. Third, there are not sometimes optimized experience between service operator and device manufacturer. Cooperative design between them is required.

  • As the knowledge society matures, not only distant, but also off-line universities are trying to provide learners with on-line educational contents. Particularly, high effectiveness of mobile devices for e-Learning has been demonstrated by the university sector, which uses distant learning that is based on blended learning. In this paper, we analyzed previous m-Learning scenarios and future technology prospects. Based on the proposed m-Learning scenario, we designed cellular phone-based educational contents and service structure, implemented m-Learning system, and analyzed m-Learning service satisfaction. The design principles of the m-Learning service are 1) to provide learners with m-Learning environment with both cellular phones and desktop computers; 2) to serve announcements, discussion boards, Q&A boards, course materials, and exercises on cellular phones and desktop computers; and 3) to serve learning activities like the reviewing of full lectures, discussions, and writing term papers using desktop computers and cellular phones. The m-Learning service was developed on a cellular phone that supports H.264 codex in 3G communication technology. Some of the functions of the m-Learning design principles are implemented in a 3G cellular phone. The contents of lectures are provided in the forms of video, text, audio, and video with text. One-way educational contents are complemented by exercises (quizzes).
