  • In this paper, it presents a method to calculate the escape frequency factor$(\nu)$ and its verification from TSC(Thermally Stimulated Current) equation and their simulation curves. To apply calculation method of $\nu$ using asymptotic estimation, it utilized TSC data with 1K interval. This method enables one to get the exact value of $\nu$ and activation energy at the same time by using computer programming. So, it regards their calculation method as a useful process to obtain the value of physical behavior.

  • In this paper, the numerical integration method for general singularly perturbed two point boundary value problems with mixed boundary conditions of both left and right end boundary layer is presented. The original second order differential equation is replaced by an approximate first order differential equation with a small deviating argument. By using the trapezoidal formula we obtain a three term recurrence relation, which is solved using Thomas Algorithm. To demonstrate the applicability of the method, we have solved four linear (two left and two right end boundary layer) and one nonlinear problems. From the results, it is observed that the present method approximates the exact or the asymptotic expansion solution very well.

  • This paper presents a very simple procedure for determining the sensitivities of the eigenpairs of damped vibratory system with distinct eigenvalues. The eigenpairs derivatives can be obtained by solving algebraic equation with a symmetric coefficient matrix whose order is (n+1) ${\times}$ (n+1), where n is the number of degree of freedom the mothod is an improvement of recent work by I. W. Lee, D. O. Kim and G. H. Jung; the key idea is that the eigenvalue derivatives and the eigenvector derivatives are obtained at once via only one algebraic equation, instead of using two equations separately as like in Lee and Jung's method. Of course, the method preserves the advantages of Lee and Jung's method.

  • The Fokker-Planck (FP) model is one of the commonly used methods for studies of the dynamical evolution of dense spherical stellar systems such as globular clusters and galactic nuclei. The FP model is numerically stable in most cases, but we find that it encounters numerical difficulties rather often when the effects of tidal shocks are included in two-dimensional (energy and angular momentum space) version of the FP model or when the initial condition is extreme (e.g., a very large cluster mass and a small cluster radius). To avoid such a problem, we have developed a new integration scheme for a two-dimensional FP equation by adopting an Alternating Direction Implicit (ADI) method given in the Douglas-Rachford split form. We find that our ADI method reduces the computing time by a factor of ${\sim}2$ compared to the fully implicit method, and resolves problems of numerical instability.

  • A new quadratic response surface modeling method is presented. In this method, the incomplete small composite design (ISCD) is newly proposed to .educe the number of experimental runs than that of the SCD. Unlike the SCD, the proposed ISCD always gives a unique design assessed on the number of factors, although it may induce the rank-deficiency in the normal equation. Thus, the singular value decomposition (SVD) is employed to solve the normal equation. Then, the duality theory is used to newly develop the conservative least squares fitting (CONFIT) method. This can directly control the ever- or the under-estimation behavior of the approximate functions. Finally, the performance of CONFIT is numerically shown by comparing its'conservativeness with that of conventional fitting method. Also, optimizing one practical design problem numerically shows the effectiveness of the sequential approximate optimization (SAO) combined with the proposed ISCD and CONFIT.

  • A new method for the determination of camera system rotation and translation from in 3-D space using recursive least square method is presented in this paper. With this method, the calculation of the equation is found by a linear algorithm. Where the equation are either given or be obtained by solving five or more point correspondences. Good results can be obtained in the presence if more than the eight point. A main advantage of this new method is that it decouple rotation and translation, and then reduces computation. With respect to error in the solution point number in the input image data, adding one more feature correspondence to required minimum number improves the solution accuracy drastically. However, further increase in the number of feature correspondence improve the solution accuracy only slowly. The algorithm proposed by this paper is used to make camera system rotation and translation easy to recognize even when camera system attached at end effecter of six degrees of freedom industrial robot manipulator are applied industrial field.

  • In this paper, a voltage equations, a thrust force equations and kinetic equation are derived from the basic structure of a 2-phase hybrid type linear stepping motor(HLSM). And a micro-stepping method in order to eliminate effectively the resonant phenomena and to increase the positional resolution of the HLSM was proposed. The proposed micro-stepping method can divide one step into the maximum 128 micro-steps under simple control system. The dynamic characteristics of proposed micro-stepping method were analyzed by the ACSL(Advanced Continuous Simulation Language) with the voltage equations, the thrust force equations and the kinetic equation, and were measured by laser experimental system. As the result, the justice of theory was confirmed, and the resonant phenomena, the positional resolution and dynamic thrust were improved by the proposed micro-stepping method.

  • The paper is devoted to studying a fourth-order degenerate parabolic equation, which arises in fluid, phase transformation and biology. Based on the existence and uniqueness of one semi-discrete problem, two types of approximate solutions are introduced. By establishing some necessary uniform estimates for those approximate solutions, the existence and uniqueness of the corresponding parabolic problem are obtained. Moreover, the long time asymptotic behavior is established by the entropy functional method.

  • For the analysis of phonon heat transfer within short time and spatial scales, conventional macroscopic heat conduction equations with jump boundary conditions are tried and the results are compared to those of equation of phonon radiative transport(EPRT), which is one of microscopic transport equation. In transient state the macroscopic temperatures show far different behavior from EPRT. In steady state the hyperbolic temperatures with temperature jump at the wall from time relaxation model agrees well with EPRT temperatures. Since EPRT is also an approximate form of microscopic transport equation and there are no experimental results to verify the proposed model in this study, we can not conclude whether the approaching method from this study is valid or not. To the authors' knowledge, there are no experimental results available which can be used to test the validity of these models. Such an experiment, while difficult to conduct, would be invaluable.

  • This paper presents a study of tool-life equation on cut-off test by the statistical approach, referred to as response surface methodology instead of a conventional one-variable at a time method. It is the merit of response surface methodology that the test time is reduced to minimize the size and accurate analysis can be done. The reliability of such an equation can also be estimated. Two independent variables, cutting speed and feed rate, were investigated. A first order modeling equation is presented in this project. The results of this study are as follows that tool-life in cut-off operation is affected by cutting speed more than feed, and first order tool-life predicting equations are in good agreement with experimental results.
