The Characteristics of Ultrasonic Wave Transmitted Through Drying Wood

  • The possibility of using the properties of an ultrasonic wave as a means for monitoring the moisture content of a board during drying was investigated. The ultrasonic wave signals are influenced by moisture content and other factors such as temperature, moisture gradient and coupling area. The effect of temperature was examined by measuring the transit times, amplitudes and velocities of ultrasonic waves transmitted through air, a metal bar and a board at various temperatures. The effect of a moisture gradient was studied using a model specimen composing five wood pieces of various moisture contents. The velocity and amplitude of the ultrasonic waves transmitted through air increase with temperature, while those through a metal bar and a board decrease. It was confirmed that the temperature effect is partially attributed to the change of transducer's properties. The effect of a moisture gradient on the velocity of an ultrasonic wave varies with the average moisture content of a board. As the dimension of the end face of a board increases the velocity of an ultrasonic wave increases and low frequency components more dominates than high frequency components. The transit times of ultrasonic waves transmitted through a board during kiln drying reflect the temperature steps in the drying schedule and the transducer temperatures.

A Prototyping Tool of Free-Coding-Type Microcontroller Board for Design Education

  • As the scope of social expectations and roles in the design field has expanded, the demand for education to cope with changes in the technology environment is increasing in design education. In response to this trend, microcontroller board-type design-prototyping tools have also been introduced into design education, and much educational content is being developed. However, there is the perception that students who are majoring in design without engineering knowledge are still barred from entry. A variety of educational content and tools have been developed to solve these difficulties, although there are several limitations to their practical application. Especially, in the design education courses in universities, the functional expectation level for prototyping is high, but most of the content developed for solving the difficulties has been developed for the lower education levels, and it could be said that a great deal of learning is necessary to solve the problem. In this study, students were asked about microcontroller board utilization and their satisfaction with their design through questionnaires and with the developed microcontroller board development direction via Focus Group Interviews. Based on this, we tested microcontroller boards that eliminate the coding process and which students can use to create and prototype their work as a suggestion to fulfil demand. After using the board, both the usability and improvement of the product were checked. Confirmation of the usefulness of the free- coding-type microcontroller was obtained through this study along with the possibility of responding to various educational demands by applying the application design related to this product.

가정 내 주방용품 및 기구의 위생실태 및 미생물학적 분석 (Sanitation Assessment and Microbiological Analysis of the Domestic Kitchen Utensils)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the sanitation level and use of dish cloths, chopping board, and drawer in the refrigerator in 50 university students' houses located in Seoul and Kyonggido. The survey questionnaire evaluated general information, frequency of the washing, cleaning method, drying method and the associated factors. The highest percentage of the cleaning and drying methods of dish cloths were “boiling(76.0%)”, and “dry in the kitchen or on the sink(78.0%)”, respectively. For the chopping board and drawer in the refrigerator, the highest percentage of cleaning method was “use detergent” and drying method was “dry in the kitchen”. The mean of coliforms for dish cloths, chopping board, and drawer in the refrigerator was 4.46${\pm}$1.95 log CFU/100 $cm^2$, 3.92${\pm}$1.64 log CFU/100 $cm^2$, 3.48${\pm}$2.01 log CFU/ 100 $cm^2$, respectively. Salmonella spp. were not detected from all samples. But E. coli were detected from dish cloths(4.0%) and S. aureus were detected from dish cloths(16.0%), chopping board(12.0%), and drawer in the refrigerator(8.0%). The results of microbiological test of kitchen utensils indicated that the sanitary conditions of dish cloths, chopping board, drawer in the refrigerator should be improve promptly.

The Impact of Demographic Characteristics of Board of Directors and Audit Committee on Financial Reporting Quality: An Empirical Study from Pakistan

  • This study examines the impact of female representation on board of directors and audit committees on financial reporting quality, which also discusses the moderating role of family ownership in female representation on boards of directors and audit committees and financial reporting quality. The unbalanced panel is made up of 271 non-financial companies listed on the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) from 2008 to 2019.The findings reveal that female representation on the board of directors has a large and negative impact on financial reporting, but female representation on the audit committee has a significant positive impact on financial reporting quality. Furthermore, the results reveal that family ownership has a negative impact on the relationship between female presence on boards of directors and financial reporting quality. Furthermore, the findings show that family ownership reduces the impact of female involvement in audit committees on the quality of financial reporting. However, family ownership has no direct impact on financial reporting quality.Our findings suggest that selecting females to serve on boards of directors and audit committees should be based on specific criteria (e.g., monitoring abilities, business competence, knowledge, and experience) rather than on family relationships.

스마트 분전반 제작을 위한 작업 공정도 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development of a Work Operation Process Chart for Smart Distribution Board Fabrication)

  • This study presented the strength of the materials and parts for smart distribution board fabrication, and developed a work operation process chart for smart distribution board fabrication. This work operation process chart for smart distribution board fabrication complied with SPS-KEMC regulations, and the applicable range and object are less than 1,000 V and 1,000 Hz for the AC distribution board and less than 1,500 V for the DC distribution board. The power supply is 3 phase 4 wires ($3{\Phi}$ 4W), divided into a single phase circuit and a 3 phase circuit. In addition, the circuit was configured so that the leakage current flowing through the distribution line of the load could be monitored in real time by using the sensor module installed at the rear end of the circuit breaker. Therefore, the administrator can easily find the risk factor of the load since engineer can check the leakage current of each distribution line. In addition, if a leakage current greater than standard value flows, it is possible to generate an alarm against a short circuit and cut off the leakage current. The work operation process chart for the smart distribution board fabrication consists of the following steps: raw and subsidiary materials, sheet metal work, tube making, welding, painting, busbar fabrication, assembly and wiring, product inspection, shipment, etc. Moreover, symbols, ${\Delta}$, ${\nabla}$, ${\bigcirc}$, ${\Rightarrow}$, etc. were used according to the type of work and work progress so that workers can easily understand the progress of the work.

단순만곡형과 슈퍼-V형 전개판의 유체역학적 성능에 관한 모형실험 (A Model Experiment on the Hydrodynamic Characteristics of the Simple Camber and the Super-V Otter Board)

  • 단순만곡형과 Super-V형 전개판의 성능을 비교하기 위하여 모형실험을 실시하였다. 모형전개판은 두께 1mm되는 철판으로써 제작하였으며, 단순만곡형은 만곡도 $12\%$, 평면투영면적 $432cm^2$되게, Super V형은 횡단면의 양곡도가 어디서나 $12\%$되고 평면 투영면적은 $436cm^2$되게 하였다. 실험은 측정의 결과, 단순만곡형은 최대 유교진행각도가 $25^{\circ}$이고, 그 때의 전개력계수는 1.47, 항력계수는 0.42이며, Super-V형은 그것이 각각 $20^{\circ},\;1.40,\;0.40$으로서 유체역학적성능은 단순만곡형이 다소 우수하다고 판단된다.

  • The Swedish Fire Research Board was established in 1979 to initiate and fund relevant fire research efforts. The Board is responsible for a long term research programme revised every third year, and the Board is one of two major Swedish sponsors of all fire research. Beside the Board we also have the Swedish National Rescue Services, funded by the government. BRANDFORSK gives very high priority for the industry and the insurance company and the need they express for fire research. Research that the Rescue Services Board are funding is mainly focusing the need for the fire department. The Swedish Fire Research Board, BRANDFORSK, is the joint agency of the Swedish government, the insurance industry and the business sector, for the initiation, funding and supervision of different kinds of fire research. Work is directed by a Programme Board and is performed in the form of projects at universities, research institutes, state authorities and private firms. The Secretariat of BRANDFORSK shares the premises of the Swedish Fire Protection Association, SFPA, and the SFPA is the principal and the party which enters into agreement with the State. The programme for the period 1997-1999 has been drawn up on the basis of both damage development and the trends in society which can be noted, and the evident fire problems of the interested parties and their need for fire research. The inputs in the programme have been broken down seven problem areas. In every problem area different project areas are set out, and these primarily specify the aim of the work. 오버레이 백탄보드의 에칠렌가스 흡착과 딸기 보관성 효과 (Effect of Overlaid White Charcoal Board on the Ethylene Gas Adsorption and Preservation Life of Strawberry)

  • 본 연구는 백탄보드와 오버레이 백탄보드를 비포름알데히드계 수지 접착제를 사용하여 습식공법으로 제조하고, 백탄보드의 포장용 상자로서의 기능을 검토하기 위하여 에칠렌가스 흡착과 딸기의 보관성을 측정하였다. 그결과, 백탄보드의 에칠렌 가스 흡착성능은 종이보다 월등히 좋았고 백탄 자체보다 높았으며, 오버레이 백탄보드와 비오버레이 백탄보드간 가스흡착성능은 차이가 없었다. 종이상자와 PVC상자 내 딸기와 백탄보드상자 내 딸기의 잿빛곰팡이 발생시간을 비교한 결과, 각각 2일 후, 4일 후로 나타났으며 박엽지와 부직포 사이의 흡착성의 차이도 역시 없었고, 백탄보드의 보관성 효과가 약 2배 좋았다. 결과적으로 백탄보드의 종류(혼합형, #40-60형)나 박엽지와 부직포 오버레이 백탄보드간의 신선도 유지효과의 차이는 없었다.

  • This experiment was carried out to investigate the gluing characteristics of poly vinyl acetate emulsion adhesive(PVAc) on the Cryptomeria japonica laminated boards. This sample trees are major planting species and have been planted in southern district for a long time. The optimum gluing conditions for laminated board were summarized as follows; the amount of spreading glue, assembly time, clamping pressure, and clamping time for PVAc resin were $200g/m^2$, 10min., $5kg/cm^2$, and 6hrs., respectively, and the relative formulae between extension ratio(x) and block shear strength(y) was $y=-9.6x+85.2(R^2=0.95)$.

GMPU 공법을 이용한 보드 성형 공정 최적화 연구 (A Study on Optimization of Board Molding Process with GMPU Technology)

  • Lightweight board has been used for manufacturing various fields of automotive interior trims for years. The GMPU board was constructed with glass fiber mat, honeycomb and polyurethane foamed using polyol and isocyanate materials which were sprayed by robot that is interlocked foaming machine. For more lightweight and cost reduction this paper shows how to optimize GMPU process parameters that related to foaming condition, robot position and robot velocity for polyurethane weight. The results show that flexural strength and modulus of board's specimens were evaluated by robot velocity and moving pattern. Based on that, a innovative process was developed for more lightweight and cost reduction.
