Smart Grid is a next-generation intelligent grid to optimize energy efficiency by integrating information and communication technologies to the existing power grid as a two-way exchange of information. HPGP communication standard for smart grid implementation has been developed for the emerging smart energy, home automation, electric vehicle communications applications. HPGP communication standard has the advantage of reducing cost and power consumption. Also, it can be interoperated with the previous HPAV communication standard. For the introduction of a new communication standard, the analysis of the reliability and interoperability verification is required. In this paper, we present sniffer test method as reliability test method about power line communication between PEV(Plug-in Electric Vehicle) and EVSE(Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment). Power line communication between PEV and EVSE is one of the most important Smart Gird applications. Also, we analyzed sniffer test results about power line communication based on HPGP between PEV and EVSE by using QCA7000 device, AVitar and Tool kit.

In this paper, A technique for detecting contact loss at the input power of a railway vehicle has been studied when the contact loss occurs in the feed system. The impedance of the actual railway line was applied to the modeling of the feed system, and modeling was performed based on the performance of the electric railway vehicle. The input voltage and current of the railway vehicle through modeling were analyzed by applying TEO and STFT signal processing technique.
In this paper, we developed the inspection system of electric vehicle pouch battery using image processing. Line scan cameras are used for acquiring the all parts of the pouch battery, and several steps of image processing for extracting significant dimensions(User Required Position) of the battery. In image processing, edge lines, node points, dimension lines, etc. were extracted using Preprocessor, Square Edge Detection, and Size Detection algorithms. This is used to measure the dimensions of the location requested by the user on the pouch battery. For verification of the inspection system, the dimensions of three pouch batteries produced in the same process were measured, and the mean and standard deviation were obtained to confirm the precision.

The environmental regulations are being strengthened all over the world, and the introduction of electric vehicles are actively being considered to cope with them effectively. It is essential to establish a charging infrastructure, which is an essential element of electric vehicle distribution. In this paper, power line communication technology essential for smart charging infrastructure is studied. A control board capable of achieving a physical layer speed of 10Mbps and a TCP/IP layer of 4.5Mbps, which conforms to the ISO/IEC 15118 international standard, and a control board mounted on the board and compliant with international standards. We have developed a software solution to perform functions for linking. In addition, in order to be applied to the combo-type DC fast charger, the hardware was designed to meet the industrial environment standard and the V2G communication module was developed by integrating it with the software solution.

This paper describes a road-following controller using the proposed neural network for autonomous vehicle. Road-following with visual sensor like camera requires intelligent control algorithm because analysis of relation from road image to steering control is complex. The proposed neural network, relative similarity modular network(RSMN), is composed of some learning networks and a partitioniing network. The partitioning network divides input space into multiple sections by similarity of input data. Because divided section has simlar input patterns, RSMN can learn nonlinear relation such as road-following with visual control easily. Visual control uses two criteria on road image from camera; one is position of vanishing point of road, the other is slope of vanishing line of road. The controller using neural network has input of two criteria and output of steering angle. To confirm performance of the proposed neural network controller, a software is developed to simulate vehicle dynamics, camera image generation, visual control, and road-following. Also, prototype autonomous electric vehicle is developed, and usefulness of the controller is verified by physical driving test.

The railway is a public transportation system that provides large-scale passenger transportation and service, whose reliability and safety is the top priority. The wiring of railway vehicles is classified into train control lines (train lines) and communication lines. The train lines are used for input / output signals related to vehicle driving and safety functions, and the communication lines are used for the input / output signals for passenger services such as broadcasting. In order to measure the reliability of railway vehicles, a train line is applied to the input / output interface of the control signals between the electric control devices in the vehicle, and there are many electromechanical devices such as relays and contactors for the control logic. In fact, since the vehicle control circuit is composed of several thousand contacts, it is difficult to check for errors such as contact failure, and it is impossible to check the real-time status, so a lot of manpower and time is required for regular maintenance. Therefore, we analyze the current state of the train line design of the electric equipment used for driving and services in domestic railway cars and propose three wiring reduction methods to improve it. Based on the analysis of domestic electric vehicles, it was confirmed that the wiring reduction effect is 35% or more.

Recently, various measures have been discussed for overcoming depletion of fossil fuels and environmental pollution. One of the measures is electric vehicles. But electric vehicles has some limitations from high cost of battery and low efficiency, so operation distance of electric cars is limited. Also there are difficulties that charging lines should be connected by an electric car whenever it charges. Thus, many studies have been conducted to overcome the limitation using conventional batteries of electric vehicles. As a result, the OLEV(On-Line Electric Vehicle) was developed. But the OLEV system is some limitations. The OLEV system causes power quality problems when it charges. Power quality problem cannot be ignored because OLEV systems are closely connected by distribution grids. In this paper, the OLEV system is designed by using PSCAD/EMTDC, and the power quality is measured and evaluated. Power quality is divided by two cases; harmonics and high-frequency. Harmonics were evaluated according to IEEE Std. 519-1992. But the evaluation of High-frequency could not take it because there was no standard. For this reason, the data measured by OLEV system was compared with the EN50065 regulation.
The electric vehicle is a representative measure to reduce greenhouse gas and local air pollutants in the transportation sector. Most countries provide purchase subsidies and tax reductions to promote electric vehicle sales. The electric vehicles have been considered as zero-emission vehicles(ZEV) in light of the fact that there has been no pollutant emission during driving. However, recent studies have pointed out that the pollutant emitted from the process of generating electricity used for charging the electric vehicles need to be treated as emissions of the electric vehicles. Furthermore, the environmental benefits of electric vehicle replacing the internal combustion vehicle vary with the power mix. In line with the recent studies, this study analyzes the impact of electric vehicles based on the current power mix and future energy transition scenarios in Korea. To estimate the precise air pollutants emission profile, this study uses hourly electricity generation and TMS emission data for each power plant from 2015 to 2016. The estimation results show that the electric vehicles under the current power mix generate the environmental benefits of only -0.41~10.83 won/km. Also, we find that the environmental benefit of electric vehicle will significantly increase only when the ratio of the coal-fired power plant is reduced to a considerable extent.

TV ghost interference can be described as passive interference by the conducting part of transmission lines. In order to survey this interference from large-sized overhead EHV (extra high voltage) transmission line, TV reception quality was measured in the vicinity of that before and after construction. Instrumentation system was composed of ghost analyzer, TV received field intensity meter, VHF/UHF antennas, TV monitor and so on. The system is installed inside the vehicle. TV field intensity and PDUR (Perceived Desired wave to Undersired wave Ratio) are measured to evaluate TV ghost by using the system and vehicle. As the results, the useful data, which can be used to evaluate the effect of TV ghost interference from transmission lines could be obtained. In this paper, it is shown that the range of TV ghost interference from transmission lines can vary according to the frequency of TV electromagnetic wave, an incidence angle to the line and the other conditiions. At present, we are making efforts to establish a PDUR guideline for transmission lines.

Interest in the future of the battery market is growing as Tesla announces plans to increase production of electric vehicles and to produce batteries. Tesla announced an action plan to reduce battery prices by 56% through 'Battery Day', which included expansion of factories to internalize batteries and improvement of materials and production technology. In the trend of automobile electrification, the expansion of the battery market, which accounts for 40% of the cost of electric vehicles, is inevitable, and the size of the electric vehicle battery market in 2026 is expected to increase more than five times compared to 2016. With the development of materials and process technology, the energy density of electric vehicle batteries is increasing while the price is decreasing. Soon, electric vehicles and internal combustion locomotives are expected to compete on the same line. Recently, the mileage of electric vehicles is approaching that of an internal combustion locomotive due to the installation of high-capacity batteries. In the EV battery market, Korean, Chinese and Japanese companies are fiercely competing. Based on market share in the first half of 2020, LG Chem, CATL, and Panasonic are leading the EV battery supply, and the top 10 companies included 3 Korean companies, 5 Chinese companies, and 2 Japanese companies. All-solid, lithium-sulfur, sodium-ion, and lithium air batteries are being discussed as the next-generation batteries after lithium-ion, among which all-solid-state batteries are the most active. All-solid-state batteries can dramatically improve stability and charging speed by using a solid electrolyte, and are excellent in terms of technology readiness level (TRL) among various technology alternatives. In order to increase the competitiveness of the battery industry in the future, efforts to increase the productivity and economy of electric vehicle batteries are also required along with the development of next-generation battery technology.
