The anchor is laid on seabed and the main engine is worked to against incident environmental loads in typoon. As the main engine is broken down in the storm, the anchor chain is cutted and the vessel is drifted. Although a ship is moored by two point mooring lines to keep the her position, a ship is crashed into a rock because of typoon and the accident of oil spilling may be occured. In this paper, we studied the position-keeping of a ship which is analyized based on the slow motion maneuvering equations considering wave, current and wind. The direct integration method is employed to estimate wave loads. The current forces are calculated by using mathematical of MMG. The two point mooring forces are quasisatatically evaluated by using the catenary equation. The coefficeints of wind forces are modeled from Isherwood’s emperical data and the variation of wind speed is estimated by wind spectrum. The nonlinear motions of a two point moored ship are simulated considering wave, current, wind load in time domain.

To estimate wave loads, the direct integration method is employed. The current forces are calculated, using MMG (Mathematical Modeling Group). Th two-point mooring forces are quasi-statistically evaluated, using the catenary equation. Th coefficients of wind forces are modeled from Isherwood's empirical data, and the variation of wind speed is estimated by wind spectrum. The nonlinear motions of a two-point moored ship are simulated, considering wave, current, and wind load, in specific domain of time.
This paper presents the numerical analysis results of the viscous flow for a full ship model. The mass and momentum conservation equations are used for governing equations, and the flow field is discretized by the Finite-Volume Method for the numerical calculation. An algebraic grid and elliptic grid generation techniques are adopted for generation of the body-fitted coordinates system, which is suitable to ship's hull forms. Time-marching procedure is used to solve the three-dimensional unsteady problem, where the convection terms are approximated by the QUICK scheme and the 2nd-order central differencing scheme is used for other spatial derivatives. A Sub-Grid Scale turbulence model is used to approximate the turbulence, and the wall function is used at the body surface. Pressure and velocity fields are calculated by the simultaneous iteration method. Numerical calculations were accomplished for the Crude Oil Tanker(DWT 95,000tons, Cb=0.805) model. Calculation results are compared to the experimental results and show good agreements.
This study focuses on a simple analytical approach to calculate crane lifting forces for a sunken ship. The method takes into account the relation of lifting forces acting in wire rope slings to the inclination of the vessel including the effect of lug positions. The importance of the sunken ship salvage is explained from the statistics of ship casualties during last 15 years. Euler angles are introduced to represent the inclination of a sunken ship in developing the static force and moment equations,. Three dimensional examples with one redundant degree of freedom for a GT1500 oil tanker are analyzed and the results show that the information obtained by the method could be useful to salvors to conduct salvage work.
This study focuses on an analytical approach to calculate crane-lifting forces for a sunken ship, with consideration to elongation of crane ropes. The method takes into account the relation of lifting forces acting in wire rope slings to the inclination of the ship's hull, including the effect of lug positions. For lifting analysis, the Euler angles are defined to represent the inclination of a sunken ship in developing the static force and moment equations. An additional compatibility condition is introduced in order to solve an indeterminate lifting analysis problem with 4 cranes. A set of lifting forces along the 4 crane ropes is calculated. A 3-dimensional example of the G/T 1500 oil tanker is analyzed. The results show that the information obtained by the method could be useful to engineers when conducting salvage work.

It is necessary to perform the research works on the general structural designs and optimum structural designs of double hull tankers and bulk carriers due to the newly built Common Structural Rules(CSR). In this study, an optimum structural design of a mid-ship part of double hull oil tanker was carried out by using the CSR. An optimum structural design program was developed by using the Pareto optimal based multi-objective function method. The hull weight and fabrication cost obtained by the single and multi-objective function methods were compared with existing ship by the consideration of CSR and material cost which is recently increasing.

In order to reduce the green-house gas exhaustion, International Maritime Organization (IMO) has been reinforcing carbon gas regulations. Due to the regulations, a lot of competitions for designing Eco ship in the shipbuilding industry are progressing now. It is faced with the necessity of reducing hull weight by combining automated systems for optimal compartment arrangement with hull structural design. Most researches on optimum structural design method have been consistently in progress and applied to minimize weight and cost of mid-ship section in preliminary ship design stage based on analytical structural analysis method on fixed compartment arrangement. In order to reduce design period and to improve international technical competitiveness by shortening the period of hull structural design and enhancing design accuracy, it has been felt necessity to combine optimized compartment arrangement with optimum design of ship structure based on the international regulations and rules. So in this study, the automated design algorithm for longitudinal members has been developed to combine automated algorithm of compartment arrangement with hull structural design system for oil tanker. The SeaTrust-Hullscan software developed by Korean Register is used to perform ship structural design for mother ship and selected design cases. The effect of weight reduction is verified with comparison of ship weight between mother ship and the cases suggested in this study.
The present Common Structural Rules for double hull oil tanker is not included the residual strength, which is one of the functional requirements in design part of Goal-based new ship construction standards (GBS). The GBS will be enforced after July 1, 2016. The requirement related residual strength has the goal to build safe ship even if she has the specified damages due to marine accidents including collision and grounding. In order to assess the residual strength based on risk for structural damages according to GBS, tons of nonlinear FE analysis work taking into account various types of damage will be needed. The Smith's method, a kind of simplified method for the strength analysis is very useful for this purpose. In this paper, the residual strength assessments based on ultimate strength using Smith's method were carried out. The objected ship is VLCC with stranding damage in bottom structures. Also, the results were compared with that of nonlinear FE analysis using three cargo hold model.
The potential pollution problems resulting from tanker collision necessitate the requirement for an effective structural design and the development of relevant safety regulations. During a few decades, the great effort has been made by the international Maritime Organization and the Administration, etc, to reduce oil spillage from collision accidents. However there is still a need for investigation in the light of structural evaluation method for the experiments and rational analysis, and design development for an operational purpose of ships. This study aims for investigating a complicated structural response of bow structures of simplified models and oil carriers for assessing the energy dissipation and crushing mechanics of the striking vessels through a methodology of the numerical analysis for the various models and its design changes. Through these study an optimal bow construction absorbing great portion of kinetic energy at the least penetration depth prior to reach to the cargo area and an effective location of collision bulkhead are investigated. In order to obtain a rational results in this study, three stages of collision simulation procedures have been performed step by step as follows; 1) 16 simplified ship models are used to investigate the structural response against bow collision with variation of primary and secondary members. Mass and speed are also varied in four conditions. 2) 21 models consisted of 5 sizes of the full scaled oil carriers are used to perform the collision simulation with the various sizes and deadweight delivered in a recent which are complied with SOLAS and MARPOL. 3) 36 models of 100l oil carrier are used to investigate the structural response and its influence to the collision bulkhead against bow collision in variation with location of collision bulkhead, primary members, framing system and colliding conditions, etc. By the first study using simplified models the response of the bow collision is synthetically evaluated for the parameters influencing to the absorbed energy, penetration depth and impact force, etc.
