  • In this paper, a new DC offset elimination filter is proposed for an accurate phasor extraction of fundamental frequency component. The proposed method can eliminate a DC offset component which is decayed exponentially. The proposed method uses only one cycle of data for phasor extraction computation, which does not need to preset the time constant of the DC offset component. Also, the other advantages of the proposed method is that gain compensation or phase compensation is not required after filtering. Simulations using ATP were performed to evaluate the performance of the proposed filter method, and the results were compared to the ones obtained by conventional methods.

  • Geostationary Ocean Color Imager (GOCI) is under development to provide a monitoring of oceancolor around the Korean Peninsula from geostationary platforms. It is planned to be loaded on Communication, Ocean, and Meteorological Satellite (COMS) of Korea. In this paper radiometric calibration concept of the GOCI is introduced. The GOCI radiometric response is modeled as a nonlinear system in order to reflect a nonlinear characteristic of detector. In this paper estimation approaches for radiometric parameters of GOCI model are discussed. For the GOCI, the offset signal depends on each spectral channel because dark current offset signal is a function of integration time which is different from channel to channel. The offset parameter can be estimated by using offset signal measurements for two integration time setting is described.

  • This paper presents a region offsetting algorithm for tool-path generation. The proposed region offsetting algorithm is developed by expanding the 'PWID offset algorithm [Choi and Park, 1999]'designed to offset a simple polygon. The PWID offset algorithm has three important steps; 1) remove 'local invalid ranges'by invoking a PWID test, 2) construct a raw offset owe and 3) remove 'global invalid ranges'by finding self-intersections of the raw offset cure. To develop a region offsetting algorithm, we modified the PWID offset algorithm by expanding the concept of the 'global invalid range'in the third step. The time complexity of the proposed algorithm is approximately Ο(n), where n is the number of points, and it is free of numerical errors for practical purposes. The proposed algorithm has been implemented and tested with various real regions obtained by intersecting a sculptured surface with a plane.

  • Since PV PCS uses output current sensor for ac output current control, the sensor's sensing value includes unnecessary offset inevitably. If PV inverter is controlled by the included offset value, it's output current will generate DC offset. The DC offset of output current for trans-less PV inverter is fatal to grid, which results in saturating grid side transformer. Usually DSP controller of PV inverter reads several times sensing value during initial operation and, finally, it's average value is used for offset calibration. However, if temperature changes, the offset changes, too. And also, the switch device is not ideal, both each switching element of the voltage drop difference and on & off time delay difference generate DC offset. Thus, to compensate for deadtime and the switch voltage drop, feedback control by output current DC offset should be provided to compensate additional distortion of the output current. The validity of the proposed method is confirmed through PSIM simulation.

However, if temperature changes, the offset changes, too. Therefore, output current sensor measures sensing value that includes offset again. In this paper we propose new algorithm where two identical forward and reverse sensors are used to calculate the offset in real time. As a result the offset is not correlated with temperature change. The proposed algorithm is verified through PSIM simulation for validity.

  • In this paper, we develop a symbol/frame time and carrier frequency synchronization scheme for multi-carrier signaling in wireless mobile channels. The proposed scheme achieves simultaneous time synchronization and carrier frequency offset estimation. Simulation results show that the frequency offset of multiple sub-carrier spacings can be estimated and that performance is improved with robustness regardless of the cyclic prefix length.

  • In this paper, we show the robustness of a proposed system using both a frequency diversity and a time diversity effect when the channel assumptions are relaxed such that all sub-bands are not independent fading. We take time-repetition coding with interleaving such that the repetition code symbols are spaced sufficiently far apart to guarantee time diversity. We also incorporate offset multicarriers into a proposed multicarrier DS-CDMA system in a different way compared to that of [10] to reduce the total multiple access interference. When we take a convolutional encoder instead of a time-repetition encoder, and again use both time diversity and frequency offset, then we can obtain the significant performance gain.

  • With the increase in satellite time series data, the utility of remote sensing data is growing. In the analysis of time series data, the relative positional accuracy between images has a significant impact on the results, making image registration essential for correction. In recent years, research on image registration has been increasing by applying deep learning, which outperforms existing image registration algorithms. To train deep learning-based registration models, a large number of image pairs are required. Additionally, creating a correlation map between the data of existing deep learning models and applying additional computations to extract registration points is inefficient. To overcome these drawbacks, this study developed a data augmentation technique for training image registration models and applied it to OffsetNet, a registration model that predicts the offset amount itself, to perform image registration for KOMSAT-2, -3, and -3A. The results of the model training showed that OffsetNet accurately predicted the offset amount for the test data, enabling effective registration of the master and slave images.

  • In this paper, we propose a new estimation method of time offset, frequency offset, and signal to interference plus noise ratio (SINR) using the synchronization channel preamble to provide IEEE 802.16.1a based talk-around direct communications (TDC). The proposed scheme estimates the time offset and frequency offset both in the time domain and in the frequency domain considering the preamble structure. In addition, it improves the estimation accuracy by combining the estimated values in two domains taking into account TDC synchronization scenarios. Through numerical simulations in the TDC channel environments, the performance of the proposed algorithm is compared with those of existing techniques such as the time domain estimation and the frequency domain estimation.
