This paper deals with the performance improvement by eliminating loop interference signal and inserting adaptive equalizer for phase compensation in OFDMA based Wibro relay station. The Wibro relay station is used for the extension of communication service area and for throughput improvement of base station. The loop interference is important factor of performance determination of relay station when transmitter and receiver is very closely located. In order to design interference canceller, we generated base-band OFDMA signal and then transmitted the signal along with pilot tones alined with two different combinations for training mode. And then, we generated received fading signal due to the loop interference added noise to the received signal. In the receiver, the transmitted signal is recovered by elimination of the interference signal with channel estimate and compensating phase by adaptive equalizer. The performance improvement was verified by computer simulation which show channel estimation, constellation of signal and BER characteristics according to the variation of SNR ratio.
In this paper, we propose the method which provides efficient sub-channel allocation for handoff and new call supporting multi-media service in AMC-based OFDMA system. Firstly, we apply the multi-band method which provides different AMC method according to the location of user terminals. Also, in OFDMA system environment that a base station has a lot of sub-channels, we adopt the sub-channel allocation scheme that provides a higher priority to handoff call and real-time service about handoff and new calls with multi-meida service. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme plays a role in increasing the number of new and handoff calls meeting the required blocking rate.

In OFDMA(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access) based multi-hop networks, the subcarrier-pairing scheme using the SNR(Signal-to-Noise Ratio) has been proposed as the best solution. But, this scheme is not optimal in cognitive radio system, because of the power control due to the interference to the primary user. In this paper, we propose two subcarrier-pairing schemes for OFDMA based 2-hop cognitive radio systems. One is the IT(Interference channel gain) scheme considering only the interference channel gain, and the other is the CI(Channel SNR over interference channel gain) scheme considering the ratio of channel SNR to interference channel gain. The results show that the CI scheme has the best performance in which throughput is improved more than 10% in comparison with other schemes.

Recently, orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing(OFDM), with clusters of subcarriers allocated to different subscribers(often referred to as OFDMA), has gained much attention for its ability in enabling multiple-access wireless multimedia communications. In such systems, carrier frequency offsets (CFOs) can destroy the orthogonality among subcarriers. And the mismatch in sampling frequencies between transmitter and receiver can lead to serious degradation due to the loss of orthogonality between the subcarriers. As a result, multiuser interference (MUI) along with significant performance degradation can be induced. In this paper, we present a scheme to compensate for the SFOs and CFOs at the base station of an OFDMA system. A novel sampling frequency offset estimation algorithm is proposed, which is based on the repetition of a symbol at the communication start-up. Then, circular convolutions are employed to generate the interference after the discrete Fourier transform processing, which is then removed from the original received signal to increase the signal to interference power ratio(SIR). Simulation result shows that the proposed scheme can improve system performance.

This paper discusses how to effectively design a next-generation wireless communication system that can possibly provide very high data-rate transmissions and versatile quality services. In order to accommodate the sophisticated user requirements and diversified user environments of the next-generation systems, it should be designed to take an efficient and flexible structure for multiple access and resource allocation. In addition, the design should be optimized for cost-effective usage of resources and for efficient operation in a multi-cell environment. As orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) has turned out in recent researches to be one of the most promising multiple access techniques that can possibly meet all those requirements through efficient radio spectrum utilization, we take OFDMA as the basic framework in the next-generation wireless communications system design. So, in this paper, we focus on introducing an OFDMA-based downlink system design that employs the techniques of hybrid multiple access (HMA) and frequency group (FG) in conjunction with intra-frequency group averaging (IFGA). The HMA technique combines various multiple access schemes on the basis of OFDMA system, adopting the multiple access scheme that best fits to the given user condition in terms of mobility, service, and environment. The FG concept and IFGA technique help to reduce the feedback overhead of OFDMA system and the other-cell interference (OCI) problem by grouping the sub-carriers based on coherence band-widths and by harmonizing the channel condition and OCI of the grouped sub-carriers.

In this paper, we propose a MIMO-OFDMA (Multi Input Multi Output-Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access) system based on Grassmannian beamforming for performance improvement of downlink real-time traffic transmission in harsh channel conditions with low CIR (Carrier-to-Interference Ratio). In the proposed system to reduce feedback information for the beamforming, we also apply Grassmannian Beamforming. Furthermore, we propose antenna selection scheme which performs the beamforming with more useful transmit antennas. In the proposed system, the optimal combination of transmit antennas with maximum MRT (Maximum Ratio Transmission) beamforming gain, is selected. Simulation results reveal that the proposed MIMO-OFDMA system achieves significant improvement of spectral efficiency in low CIR region as compared to a typical open-loop MIMO-OFDMA system using pseudo-orthogonal space time block code.

In Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) systems, timing synchronization in uplink is accomplished by an initial uplink synchronization called an initial ranging process. The Base Station's receiver synchronizes the symbol timing to specific user's symbol and the other user's symbols have some Symbol Timing Offset (STO). Linear phase shift is occurred by each user's STO in an OFDMA symbol. The Multiple Access Interference (MAI) caused by the summation of each user's linear phase shift degrades the performance of ranging code detection. In this paper, we propose an initial ranging symbol structure with common ranging code for phase shift estimation and compensation. We car estimate the average of phase shift that is generated by each user's STO and compensate this phase shift by using common ranging code. This scheme will suppress the MAI and provide better detection performance than conventional process.

The Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) is considered as a novel modulation and multiple access technique for 4th generation wireless systems. In this paper, we formulate a base station's power allocation algorithm for each user to maximize the user's sum rate, subject to constraints on total power, bit error rate, and rate proportionality among the users for a better proportional rate adaptive (RA) resource allocation method for OFDMA based system. We propose a novel power allocation method based on the proportion of subcarrier allocation and the user's normalized proportionality constant. We adapt a greedy algorithm and waterfilling technique for allocating the subcarriers among the users. In an end-to-end simulation, we validate that the proposed technique has higher system capacity and lower CPU execution times, while maintaining the acceptable rate proportionality among users.

An initial carrier frequency offset estimation algorithm is proposed for a multi-user frequency bowing orthogonal frequency division modulation-frequency division multiple access (FH-OFDMA) system with a single preamble symbol. To mitigate the effect of the frequency offset, every mobile station needs to accurately and rapidly acquire synchronization. The proposed algorithm uses only one preamble symbol in which two kinds of subcarriers are designed for coarse and fine frequency offset estimation. The non-data aided estimation using the energy spectrum is exploited for fine offset estimation, and maximum likelihood estimation using correlation for coarse offset estimation. By combining the two estimation results, an accurate frequency offset can be estimated with a single symbol. Through simulations, the performance of the proposed algorithm is evaluated by comparing estimation error variance with a conventional method.

In this paper, we propose a receiver structure for frequency synchronization in OFDMA (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access) system which is considered as 3GPP LTE(Long Term Evolution) downlink. In general, OFDMA frequency synchronization consists of two parts: coarse synchronization and fine synchronization. We consider P-SCH (Primary-Synchronization Channel) and CP (Cyclic Prefix) of OFDMA symbol for coarse synchronization and fine synchronization, respectively. The P-SCH signal has two remarkable disadvantages that it does not have sufficiently many sub-carriers and its differential correlation characteristic is not good due to ZC (Zadoff Chu) sequence-specific property. Hence, conventional frequency synchronization algorithms cannot obtain satisfactory performance gain. In this paper, we propose a modified differential correlation algorithm to improve performance of the coarse frequency synchronization. Also, we introduce an effective PLL (Phase Locked Loop) structure to guarantee stable performance of the fine frequency synchronization. Simulation results verify that the proposed algorithm has superior performance to the conventional algorithms and the 2nd-order PLL is effective to track the fine frequency offset even in high mobility.
