Objectives: The object of this study is to report a clinical effect of oriental medical treatments with Chuna for acute low back pain during the early stages of pregnancy.Methods: The patient in this case, 31 years-old female was admitted for 1days (20th/June/2016-30th/June/2016) due to the acute low back pain on the 7 weeks of pregnancy. We diagnosed as 挫閃腰痛, 傷筋 (Sprain and strain of lumbar spine) and treated with Chuna therapy and other conservative treatments including acupuncture herbal mixture. And we measured Visual Analog Score (VAS), Oswestry disability index (ODI), McGill pain questionnaire-short form (SF-MPQ).Results: After treatments, Visual Analog Score (VAS), Oswestry disability index (ODI), McGill pain questionnaire-short form (SF-MPQ) were significantly improved in case.Conclusion: Oriental medical treatments with Chuna manual therapy were associated with improvement of acute low back pain during the early stages of pregnancy.

Objectives : To evaluate the effectiveness of direct moxibustion in patients with failed back surgery syndrome (FBSS). Methods : 5 patients (3 females and 2 males) with FBSS underwent direct moxibustion on ouch points (阿是穴) for 10 to 15 weeks (once a week). The effectiveness of the treatment was evaluated with NRS (numerical rating scale), ODI (Oswestry disability index), BDI (Beck depression inventory) score, SF-36 (short form 36 health survey) score and PSQI (Pittsburgh sleep quality index) before and after the treatment. Results : Within observation period, average value changed from 10.0 to 4.2 in NRS of pain, from 37.0 to 20.6 in ODI, from 20.6 to 12.0 in BDI score, 42.2 to 62.6 in SF-36 score, and from 8.6 to 5.2 in PSQI. Conclusions : Direct moxibustion on FBSS patients showed more or equivalent effectiveness when compared to conventional FBSS treatment modalities.

Objectives: Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is prevalent disorder, particularly among the middle-aged. In this study, we report a new approach to improve OSA using oriental medicine and acupuncture. Methods: Three men diagnosed with OSA were enrolled in this study. They took oriental medicine 3 times a day and were given acupuncture twice a week for about 4 months. Results: We analyzed apnea-hypopnea index (AHI), oxygen desaturation index (ODI), average saturation (AS) and lowest saturation (LS) before and after treatment. AHI highly decreased in all patients and ODI also decreased in two of the three patients. Conclusions: These results indicate that oriental medicine and acupuncture therapy was effective in the improvement of OSA. Further study in a larger group with severity grades is recommended.

Objectives : The aim of this study was to understand scale of lumbar spinal stenosis. Methods : Papers including questionnaires for assessment disability, fuction, activity limitation, or prticipation restriction in adult patients with low back pain or spinal stenosis were searched in the MEDLINE. Results and Conclusions : 1. VAS, VRS, NRS were recommended to the pain scale. 2.ODI and RMDQ were recommended to the function scale. 3. ODI, RMDQ, QBPDS, LBOS, MVAS, WDI commonly used to the fuction scale.

This study is designed to evaluate the effect of conservative oriental medical treatment with Kyungkuen Chuna for Herniated intervertebral lumber disc(HIVD) patient. The improvement of the patient was evaluated by Range of Motion(ROM), Straight Leg Rasing Test(SLRT), Visual Analogue Scale(VAS), Oswestry Low-back Pain Disability Index(ODI). After conservative oriental medical treatment with Kyungkuen Chuna, ROM, SLRT, VAS and ODI were significantly improved. It is suggested that Conservative oriental medical treatment with Kyungkuen Chuna could be effective methods to treat the HIVD patient.

This study explores building process of innovative capability through overseas direct investment (ODI) by taking the camera business of Samsung Aerospace Industry (SAI) as a case. SAI with less than 20 years history has pursued an aggressive ODI and developed its own camera models. It acquired Rollei in Germany and Union in Japan in 1995, for acquiring advanced technology. Several factors leading to the success of SAI's innovative cability building were taken into consideration. First, SAI effectively absorbed technological knowledge by exchanging technical personnel with foreign partners. Second, it chose right partners with the complementary knowledge required for advancing its technological capability. Third, it strengthened its competrnce to satisfy the technical standards of the partner dompanies in OEM trade relations. Fourth, it successfully formed a global marketing network in which subsidiary companies plays a central role in each region. Finally, SAI successfully addressed the factors of mutual respect between partners in order to let its partners to be confident in their ventures.

Objectives : This study reports the clinical effects of Korean medical treatment on a patient with suspected diabetic muscle infarction (DMI). Methods : A patient diagnosed with spinal stenosis was suspected of DMI. The patient was treated with acupuncture, bee-venom pharmacopuncture and gastrocnemius stretching. Symptoms were evaluated by verbal numeric rating scale (vNRS), Oswestry disability index (ODI) and Manchester foot pain and disability index (MFPDI). Results : After approximately 5 weeks of Korean medical treatment, including 8 bee-venom treatments, vNRS, ODI, and MFPDI all decreased. Conclusion : The results suggest that Korean medical treatment is effective for treating pain caused by DMI.

Objective : The objective of this study is to evaluate the treatment effect of Band training in Osteoporotic Compression Fracture. Methods : Band training, Herb medicine and Acupuncture were performed for 56days admission in a patient who had Osteoporotic Compression Fracture. Result : ROM of Lumbar, Milgram test and Dorsiflexion has improved. VAS and ODI score were also decreased.
