In this paper, optical implementation of single layer perceptron to discriminate the even and odd numbers using commericla LCTV spatial light modulator is described. In order to overcome the low dynamic range of gray levels of LCTV, nonlinear quantized perceptron model is introduced, which is analyzed to have faster convergent time with small gray levels through the computer simulation. And the analog weights containing positive and negative values of single layer perceptron is represented by using the polarization-based encoding method. Finally, optical implementation of the nonlinear quantized perceptron learning model based on polarization property of the commercial LCTV is proposed and some experimental results are given.

Stress analysis of axi-symetric body with non-symetric loading and non-symetric given displacements is investigated in this paper using the finite element method. As the non-symetric load and non-symetric given displacements of axi-symetric body are generally periodic functions of angle .theta., the nodal forces and nodal displacements can be expanded in cosine and sine series, that is, Fourier series. Furthermore, using Euler's formula, the cosine and sine series can be converted into exponential series and it is prooved that the related calculus become more clear. Substituting the nodal displacements expanded in Fourier series into the strain components of cylindrical coordinates system, the element strains are expressed in series form and by the principal of virtual work, the element stiffness martix and element load vector are obtained for each order. It is also showed that if the non-symetric loads are even or odd functions of angle ${\theta}$ the stiffness matrix and load vector of the system are composed with only real numbers and relatively small capacity fo computer memory is enough for calculation.

In general CELP type vocoders provide good speech quality around 4.8kbps. Among them, G.723.1 developed for Internet Phone and videoconferencing includes two vocoders, 5.3kbps ACELP and 6.3kbps MO-MLQ. Since 6.3kbps MP-MLQ requires large amount of computation for fixed codebook search, it is difficult to realize real time processing. In order to improve the problem this paper proposes the new method that reduces the processing time up to about 50% of codebook search time. We first decide the grid bit, then search the codebook. Grid bit is selected by comparison between synthetic speech, which is synthesized with only odd or even pulses of target vector. and DC removed original speech. As a result, we reduced the total processing time of G.723.1 MP-MLQ up to about 26.08%. In objective quality test 11.19㏈ of segSNR was obtained, and in subjective quality test there was almost no speech degradation.

In-process evaluation equipment for the prominent discrete tone (PDT) emitted by small motors or actuators such as HDD(Hard Disk Driver), ODD(Optical Disk Driver) or linear motors has been developed and estimated on the basis of Prominence Ratio (PR) method in ECMA 74. Correlation of the evaluation equipment was performed in comparison with the method by ECMA 74 in anechoic chamber. Coherent function between two systems was applied in order to compensate traceability of ECMA 74 in anechoic chamber. Usability of the developed system with estimated Gage R&R shall be approved with real samples in the mass production line.

In this paper, we study the $BP_*$-module structure of $BP_*$(BG) mod $(p,v_1,{\cdots})^2$ for non abelian groups of the order $p^3$. We know $grBP_*(BG)=BP_*{\otimes}H(H_*(BG);Q_1){\oplus}BP^*/(p,v_1){\otimes}ImQ_1$. The similar fact occurs for $BP_*$-homology $grBP_*(BG)=BP_*s^{-1}H(H_*(BG);Q_1){\oplus}BP_*/(p,v)s^{-1}H^{odd}(BG)$ by using the spectral sequence $E^{*,*}_2=Ext_{BP^*}(BP_*(BG),BP^*){\Rightarrow}BP^*(BG)$.

In order to drive motor control system precisely, the motor is to be controlled by mmfs and current with sinusoidal waveforms. In this paper the Delta Modulation (DM) Technique is used for generating PWM pulse with sinusoidal waveform. However the motor currents yet contain odd harmonics due to leakage inductances, speed and exitation. To reduce harmonics, the parameter adaptive control method is introduced. That is, Req.C parameter of Delta Modulator is controlled adaptively by parameter adaptor. The adaptive signal is achieved by the difference between motor current and reference waveform, and this signal is converted to the voltage commend signal by adaptive mechanism. The test reslts show that this system is operated smoothly over a wide range of motor speed and motor current is controlled to be sinusoidal waveform adaptively.

Sound quality is becoming a major concern in optical disc drives (ODD). In order to improve the sound quality of slim type ODDs, we changed lead screw pitch and firmware algorithm in the seek mode. To evaluate the sound quality, the PCM (Paired Comparison Method) was adopted and the result was compared with the time-averaged loudness spectrum. Sound signals were also recorded and modified by increasing or decreasing selected frequency bands to verify their sensitivities to the sound quality. As a result of jury test, preferred frequency bands are associated with the time-averaged loudness spectrum.

After the vibration source is searched in optical disk drive as an information storage device broadly used the influence of it against FES(Focusing Error Signal) which is a kind of positioning error of pick up from the circuit is carefully examined. For that Purpose, partial coherence function method is applied on a simple multi-degree of freedom model made for the theoretical verification and it is practically introduced in optical disk drive for analyzing the effect of vibration source. Finally, partial coherence output spectrum is attentively observed in order to know which vibration source is a great influence on FES.

Shafts having asymmetry or odd number of symmetry in the cross-section can not be simply manufactured by conventional incremental radial forging. In order to manufacture such shafts, the new concept of incremental forging with one punch and a flexible fixture is developed by suggesting a flexible fixture, instead of two opposed punches used in radial forging, so that the flexible fixture only supports the workpiece while the punch is moving during forming. A new flexible fixture is designed using the steel shots and vacuum technology. An equilateral triangular cross-section is selected as the sample shape to be manufactured by the proposed manufacturing method. The desired triangular cross-sectional shaft is manufactured with the errors of $3.0\%$.

The elliptic filters are optimal in the sense that the magnitude characteristic exhibits the steepest slope at the cutoff frequency. The other characteristics such as delay and step response, however, are rather undesirable. In this paper, the modified elliptic low-pass filter function is proposed. The modified elliptic function possesses progressively diminishing ripples in both passband and stopband, and the lower pole-Q, values when compared to the elliptic counterparts, thus producting the flatter delay characteristics and improved time-domain performances. And it is realizable in the doubley-terminated ladder structures for the order n even or odd, thus lending themselves amaenable to high-quality active RC or switched capacitor filters through the simulation techniques.
