This study was carried out to provide information on the related factors for child obesity through investigation of children aged 6-12. Data was obtained on family history, dietary habits and physical examinations. Children were classified into normal(98 persons) and obese (108 persons) groups using combinations of the height f3r age, weight fir age, and weight fir height standards used by the World Health Organization. Children's height, weight and BMI showed significant differences between groups except children aged 8 for height. Birth weight, breast feeding and unbalanced diet were not associated with obesity. Overeating was a risk factor in the obese group(Odd ratio : 3.417, 95% CI 1.879-6.212). Taking nutrition pills was correlated to obesity. Odd ratio for taking nutrition pills was 0.109(95% CI : 0.024-0.492) between normal and obese group. Number of brothers didn't have any correlation to obesity. Obesity was not correlated to mother's education level or employmental status. As the result of this study, children's obesity was related to overeating and taking nutrition pills. Therefore, these results suggest that systematic dietary education and continuous parental supervision are necessary to avoid child obesity. (Korean J Nutrition 31(7) : 1158-1164, 1998)

Recently, the need for subminiature storage systems has increased with the diversification of portable devices. An actuator for small optical disk drives has to satisfy performance requirements such as higher access speed, lower power consumption, and smaller size. In this paper, we proposed the miniaturized rotary type VCM actuator that had an effective focusing mechanism and secured sufficient bandwidth for small form factor (SFF) optical disk drive (ODD). Initial model was designed by electromagnetic (EM) and structural analyses. Such a model was improved using design of experiments (DOE) procedure based on a Blu-ray disk (BD) 1x specifications.

본 논문에서는 손실매질의 다층구조로 이루어진 마이크로 스트립선로의 손실특성의 개선을 위한 새로운 구조를 제안한다. MIS 구조로 된 전송선로의 Si와 SiO2층 사이에 0전위를 가진 도체를 일정한 간격의 주기적인 배열로 고안된 새로운 모델의 MIS구조에 대한 유한차분법을 이용한 해석방법이 사용된다. 특히 전송선로에 대한 유전체의 영향을 줄이기 위하여 0전위를 가진 주기적인 결합의 도체로 이루어진 구조가 시간영역의 신호를 통해 시험된다. 다양한 0전위 도체의 간격(갭)에 따른 주파수 의존적인 추출된 전송선로 파라미터와 등가회로 파라미터가 주파수 함수로서 나타내진다. 또한 본 논문에서 고안된 구조에 대해 특성임피던스와 유효유전상수의 큰 변화 없이 대칭 결합선로의 quality factor가 개선됨을 볼 수 있다.

Ordered differential display using RT-PCR (ODD-PCR) was conducted to have a profile of the differently expressed genes between a hypovirulent strain of Cryphonectria parasitica (UEP1) and its isogenic wild type strain (EP155/2). ODD-PCR has advantages of high sensitivity, reproducibility, proportional representation, and limited number of primer combinations comparing with other differential display methods. RNAs were prepared from 1 and 5 day liquid culture of both hypovirulent and wild type strains, and were further evaluated with the marker genes of C. parasitica such as cryparin and mating factor MF2-1, which were already proven to be specifically down-regulated by the presence of mycovirus CHV1-713. ODD-PCR was conducted using those RNAs and expressed genes were categorized to five groups according to their temporal and quantitative expression patterns. Those fives groups are CPC, CPE, CPL, CPD, and CPU which represent constitutively-expressed, early-expressed, late-expressed, down-regulated, and up-regulated, respectively. Ninety two primer combinations out of a total of 192 have been tested so far. Among the twenty to fifty distinct bands per each reaction, an average of four to ten genes was identified as viral-regulated fungal genes. Those viral-specifc genes were further analyzed by DNA sequencing followed by homology search. Characterization of 30 clones including all five groups were conducted as a preliminary data and more are under investigation.

In this paper, we propose two different VLSI architectures for the parallel computation of DCT (discrete cosine transform) algorithm. First, it is shown that the DCT algorithm can be implemented on the existing systolic architecture for the DFT(discrete fourier transform) by introducing some modification. Secondly, a new prime factor DCT algorithm based on the prime factor DFT algorithm is proposed. And it is shown that the proposed algorihtm can be implemented in parallel on the systolic architecture for the prime factor DFT. However, proposed algorithm is only applicable to the data length which can be decomposed into relatively prime and odd numbers. It is also found that the proposed systolic architecture requires less multipliers than the structures implementing FDCT(fast DCT) algorithms directly.

The purpose of this paper is to design a pick-up for the small form factor optical disk drive and to fabricate a micro-compensatory lens for the pick-up using the micro-compression molding process. At design stage, the optical elements including the objective lens and the compensatory lens are miniaturized. The height of pick-up and free working distance are designed as 2mm and 0.2% respectively. To analyze the fabricated micro-compensatory lens, the system was analyzed using the surface profile of the fabricated micro-compensatory lens and CODE V which is commercial software. The RMS wave front aberration of the system using fabricated micro-compensatory lens is 0.01677λ which is lower than Marechal's criterion, 0.07λ.

Error correcting codes는 일반적으로 soft error를 막기 위해서 사용된다. single error의 수정과 double error의 검출(SEC-DED) 코드들은 이런 목적으로 사용된다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 회로의 크기, 지연시간, 전력 소비를 선택적으로 최소로 하는 SEC-DED의 설계방법을 제안한다. 이러한 SEC-DED의 설계는 비선형 최적화 문제로 포함되는데 우리는 다목적 유전자 알고리즘을 이용하여 이 문제를 해결한다. 제안하는 방법은 여러 가지 SEC-DED code들을 제공하여 사용자의 환경에 따라 알맞은 회로를 선택할 수 있도록 한다. 제안하는 방법을 효율적인 ECC코드로 알려져 있는 odd-column weight Hsiao code에 적용하여 그 효율성을 입증하였다.

This study intended to determine how price-ending types used for menu products affected consumers' price evaluation and value perception and such behavioral intentions as purchase intention and search intention. The collected data went through statistical processing, including frequency analysis, factor analysis, T-test and ANOVA using an $SPSS/PC^+$ 12.0 statistical package. The results can be summarized as follows: First, as for differences in internal reference price by ending, internal reference price was lower if menu ending was an odd number than it was an even number, which indicates that consumers tend to consider the price of the menu products to be lower if the ending of menu products is an odd number. Second, menu price-ending was found to have significant differences on consumers' purchase intention, search intention, and value perception. But the results of two-way ANOVA showed that price ending by restaurant types had no effect on consumers' search intention and restaurant type. This study suggested a desirable external reference price-ending type for menu products as one of sales promotion strategies to menu products planners and drew up a concrete plan to determine which price-ending type is useful by consumers' personal properties.

Recently the trends in information storage devices need small size, mobility, high capacity, and low power consumption etc. To satisfy those, the development of high performance actuator is an important issue. Compared with general linear actuator for optical disk drive, swingarm type rotary actuator is suitable to design in small form factor and has fast access time for random access. Swingarm actuator is designed considering the structural problem and the actuating force of VCM(Voice Coil Motor). The increase of mass caused by optical components makes vibration problems of swing-arm, therefore resonance frequency should be increased and inertia has to be reduced. ANSYS FEM tool is employed in optimizing swingarm. The VCM is designed using 3-D electro-magnetic analysis, and parameters of magnetic circuit are determined to matte large flux density. The large flux density enables to achieve low power consumption. VCM holder is designed to get the mass balance of total actuator and this balance reduces the magnitude of critical mode relative to pivot bearing, It is expected that swingarm type rotary actuator designed by this method is available to variable type of micro optical disk drives.

반사형(혹은 역방향) 결합선로에서 원하는 결합도를 가질 수 있도록 모드 특성임피던스를 합성하는 방법을 새로이 제안하였다. 결합도를 나타내는 일차 비선형 미분방정식의 해 혹은 Riccati 해가 갖는 반복되는 lobe들의 최소점, 즉 null점들을 최적 섭동시키므로서 최적 합성이 이루어진다. 이 과정을 위해 일차원 배열 안테나의 공간인자 패턴 제어를 통한 일차원 비선형 소스 분포함수 합성법을 근간으로 하였으며, 기존의 우함수형 분포함수 합성을 기함수형까지 확장 적용할 수 있는 방법을 제시하였다. 그 결과로서 도출된 모드 특성임피던스들은 연속적이고 비선형적인 프로필을 가지게 된다. 합성된 우함수형 및 기함수형 분포함수에 대응되는, 비대칭형 및 대칭형 결합기들을 비교 분석하였으며, 기존의 설계방법에 비해 일반적이고 간단함을 보였다.
