The pronunciation lexicon of a continuous speech recognition system should contain enough pronunciation variations to be used for building a search space large enough to contain a correct path, whereas the size of the pronunciation lexicon needs to be constrained for effective decoding and lower perplexities. This paper describes a procedure for selecting pronunciation variations to be included in the lexicon based on the frequencies of the corresponding phonetic rules observed in the training corpus. Likelihood of a phonetic rule's application is estimated using the observation frequency of the rule and is used to control the construction of a pronunciation lexicon. Experiments with various pronunciation lexica show that the proposed method is helpful to improve the speech recognition performance.
Robot path generation and laser welding technology for manufacturing automotive body are studied. Laser welding and industrial robot systems are used with the robot based laser welding system. The laser system used in this study is 1.6kW Fiber laser, while the robot system is 6 axes Industrial robot (payload: 130kg). The robot based laser welding system is equipped with laser scanner system for remote laser welding. The laser source, robot and laser scanner system are used to increase the processing speed and to improve the process efficiency. The welding joints of steel plate are butt and lapped joints. The quality test of the laser welding are through the observation the shape of bead on plate and cross-section of welding part. The 3 dimensional laser welding for non-linear pipe welding line is performed. This paper introduces the robot based laser welding system to resolve the limited welding speed and accuracy of the conventional spot welding system.

Humans perceptually segment events, but models that predict where events will be segmented are limited. Developing a detailed model may be hard because of the overlapping quality of events (i.e., one can smile and walk at the same time, but the endpoint of each event can be different). However, some aspects of events appear to be universally represented in the world's languages. For example, path, the trajectory of an object's movement, is one of the most universally encoded event features. Although it is generally encoded in the prepositions of English (e.g., up), in other languagesit is encoded in the verbs (e.g., descendere). Linguistic universals may represent basic levels of event perception. Here we consider how one of these, path, might be parsed. Because the spatiotemporal projection of paths to an observation point is similar to the spatial projection of objects, we tested the hypothesis that path segmentation and object segmentation would be based on similar image properties, such as discontinuities in orientation.

For the testability, this paper proposed the algorithm at autonomous synthesis which includes the data path structure as the self testing as possible on high level synthesis method when VHDL, coding is used in the system design area. In the proposed algorithm of this paper, MUXs and registers are assigned to the data path of designed system. And the designed data path could be mapped the H/W specification of described VHDL coding to the testable library. As a results, it was mapped H/W to the assign algorithm that is minimized MUX and the registers in collision graph.
In a service environment, the spatial layout is an important factor that has a great impact on customers' behavioral characteristics including wayfinding and purchasing. Previous studies have shown a gap between marketing, focusing solely on profitability and satisfaction, and architecture, looking only into efficiency of pedestrian flow. To balance such disparity, this study suggests an integrated approach for assessing behavioral patterns in complex service environments. With the objective that complex service environments should aim to increase its profitability and efficiency while guaranteeing customer satisfaction, quantitative metrics was developed for evaluation. The metrics was defined to use data from behavior observation including path tracking, population counting, and gaze analysis, while previous studies have relied on abstract survey methods that were prone to sampling errors and loss of data. For validation of the metrics in a real world setting, a case study was conducted at 4 train stations in Korea. In the case study, experiments were conducted to gather the required data in all 4 train stations, while their physical layouts were also analyzed. With the results from the case study, comparative evaluation of the 4 train stations in terms of behavioral efficiency was possible, together with a discussion on the effect of their physical settings.
The first step in change detection in any SAR monitoring, including SAR interferometry, is the co-registration of the images. CCPs (Ground Control Points) for co-registration are usually detected manually, but for qualitative analyses of enormous volumes of data, some automation of the process will become necessary. An automated determination of common CCPs for the same path/row data is especially desirable. We selected the intersections of linear features as the candidates of common GCPs Very bright point targets, which are commonly used as GCPs, have the drawback of appearing and disappearing depending on the conditions of the observation. But in the case of linear features, some detailed elements may appear differently in some case, but the overall line-likeness will remain. In this study, we selected 18 common GCPs for a single-look JERS-1 SAR image of Omaezaki area in central Japan. Although the GCPs in the first image had to be selected either interactively or semi-automatically, the same GCPs in all other images were successively detected automatically using a tiny sub-image around each GCP and a dilated mask of each linear feature in the first image as the reference data.

A Lunar observatory not only provides ideas and experiences for space settlements from the Moon to Mars, but also puts the telescope in an optimal position to compete with space telescopes. Earth observation on the Moon's surface has the advantage of no atmospheric scattering or light pollution and is a stable fuel-free observation platform, allowing all longitude and latitude of the Earth to be observed for a month. Observing the entire globe with a single observation instrument, which has never been attempted before, and calculating the global albedo will significantly help predict the weather and climate change. Spectropolarimetric observations can reveal the physical and chemical properties of the Earth's atmosphere, track the global distribution and migration path of aerosols and air pollutants, and can also help detect very small space debris of which the risk has increased recently. In addition, the zodiacal light, which is difficult to observe from Earth, is very easy to observe from the lunar observatory, so it will be an opportunity to reveal the origin of the solar system and take a step closer to understanding the exoplanet system. In conclusion, building and developing a lunar observatory will be a groundbreaking study to become the world's leader that we have never tried before as a first step in expanding human experience and intelligence.

When the typhoons are passing over the ocean, the ocean environment has both physical and biological impacts on the East, South sea and Yellow sea of Korea. As a result of typhoon path, vertical mixing and upwelling injured colder subsurface water, and leaded to phytoplankton blooming along the typhoons. The ocean environment before and after a typhoon played an important role in the biological effect of sea surface. Although the magnitude of sea surface temperature (SST) gets cooler because of typhoon path, other physical and biophysical responses are quite different such as chlorophyll, K490 and SST. The purpose of this study is to compare with the typhoon path that influenced the Korean Peninsula and ocean environment parameters which were observed by ocean color remotely-sensed data. The MODIS data were used to assess the parameters of ocean environments such as K490 and chlorophyll data from 2002 to 2005. Mean chlorophyll from MODIS data increased by about 1-4% in the East sea after the typhoon. Mean concentration of MODIS chlorophyll in the post-typhoon period increased along the typhoon passage. However, Jeju coastal area has different patterns from those of the East sea.

Based on an observation that tag-out times of passengers from Smart Card data were clustered, Hong et al.[1] recently developed a precise algorithm that detects a logical path for metro passengers. The logical path means the sequence of train boarding and alighting. In this paper, we observe that tag-out times of passengers in Seoul Metro Line 9 were also clustered; we trace an actual logical path of passengers by applying the algorithm. As a result, we identify 91% of passengers successfully and find their logical paths; we also investigate passengers'preferences between express and local trains.
This research has been carried out with the objects of sporting goods shops to find out what structure of those shops raises more interest from customers. The tracking eyes on the objects which are the same but seen to have different structures has revealed the followings. Customers' visual appreciation of Reverse left/right Images (11.1) was found to be higher than that of Original Images (10.6). Furthermore, the reverse left/right image of the space also was found to attract more interest from customers, which led them to have longer observation. The below is about the interpretation of the spatial exploration by observation time and the appreciation of its visual content in line with the experiment objects of selling spaces. The longer the space was observed, (1)the higher the expansive searching of space was, (2)the more spots were observed as if they did not know what to see after they first observed at early hours, (3)later (in the time range of 64~73 seconds) they came to look at the spots in which they got interested, (4)and then again they suddenly got lost what to see. When the change of observation characteristics by time range is reviewed, it can be seen that the searching of original images is changed from Divergent Feature to Convergent Feature when the observation time increases from the early stage of observation to the later. On the contrary, the reverse left/right images were found to have the opposite searching features, that is, from convergent exploration to divergent exploration. These findings show that the reverse left/right images of the sporting goods shops, which were the experiment objects, have more factors attracting customers' attention and interest and that it is the very shop-structure which makes customers have better visual appreciation of those shops.
