A House Design Automation System Based on the "Design-by-Novice" Paradigm

  • This research investigates a system for house design automation. The system is based on an object-oriented building data model, aiming to support the house design process conducted by non-expert users. Its object model, with simple yet powerful user interfaces, enables a CAD system to handle a complicated building system with much ease. Hence, the model dramatically simplifies the design process beyond just the automatic document generation. In this paper, we discuss the aspects of the building data model, introduce critical concepts such as grid objects and structured floor plan, and present a prototype system called GPLAN. The system is implemented in the framework of our building data model, and it provides a host of intelligent features that have been proved useful for house design automation.

  • 최근 건설 공사의 규모가 대형화되고 건설 산업의 환경 변화가 빠르게 진행됨에 따라 이에 대응하기 위한 방안으로 건설 산업의 정보화가 중요한 이슈로 대두되고 있다. 이는 정보화 기술의 발달과 타 분야에 비해 건설업의 정보 인프라가 상대적으로 떨어진다는 점도 중요하게 작용하였다. 이러한 점에서 현재 건설업에 정보화를 도입하기 위하여 다양한 분야에서 연구가 진행 중에 있으며 이러한 건설 정보화의 중심에는 3D CAD의 객체 정보가 부각되고 있다. 그러나 설계 도구로서 뿐만 아니라 그 기능의 확장성에 비해 3D CAD는 실무에서의 활용 정도가 매우 저조한 실정이다. 그러므로 본 논문에서는 실무에서 3D CAD의 활용 저조에 대한 원인을 AHP 분석기법을 통해서 고찰해 보았다.

  • DES software is a Computer Aided Design(CAD) tool. It is built based on objected-oriented principle. Utilizing strong processing capability and quirk calculation of computer, it can search out all possible routes, and give out interlocking table on the base of chosen routes by user. It can provide a large number of data for computers included in computer interlocking system. It is efficient and reliable.

  • We designed and implemented electronic catalog system for 3D CAD using XML. The XML(extensible Markup Language) is a Markup Language to describe data structure. XML was originally designed to meet the challenges of large-scale electronic publishing. XML Is also playing an increasingly important role in the exchange of a wide variety of data on the Web and elsewhere. This XML catalog helps you easily create and edit the construction materials data. If you want to obtain informations from the construction materials data which is used by object-oriented 3-D CAD program then this system helps you.

  • In this paper, an integrated S/W system from CAD to optimal design has been suggested and an application to a precision machine tool structure shown. The integrated system is so designed to reduce manual interfacing effort. An object-oriented programming language is used for combining 3-D CAD program, FEM and optimal design tools. In this system parametric modelling technique is applied and users can get the optimum design iteratively without much user intervention. The CAD model is automatically updated when the design parameters are transferred back to the CAD program. Not only design time can be dramatically reduced but unnecessary operation errors avoided by the integration.

  • An intelligent software system which can support efficiently and systematically machine tool design by utilizing deign knowledge is described in this paper. The process of embodiment design of a machining center was modelled represented by IDEF0 and embedded in the system. A hybrid type inference engine has been introduced so that the system can effec-tively deal with knowledge represented in diversified forms The design system was developed on the basis of object-ori-ented programming and has been coded into one software system which can be ported on Windows NT.

  • In spite of the advance of 3D solid modeling technology, there are some distinct areas where 2D CAD S/W are still dominant, and more competent comparing with 3D CAD S/W. For example, in the manufacturing of 2D-shaped electrical parts, most related manufacturing tools have 2D geometric features by nature, and 3D solid models applied to these parts have substantial overheads. Nevertheless, most 2D CAD S/W have no topological inquiry services because they have no such information on their geometrical database inherently. Thus, it is needed to extract such information from 2D CAD database for developing more advanced application such as automated drafting/design S/W. In this paper, the extraction of topological information from 2D CAD has been performed in general way using concept of B-rep. A general extraction algorithm, data structure and meta file format for 2D topological object have been developed and successfully applied to the development of the automated lead frame die design system in Samsung Aerospace. it is also possible to provide a flexible, powerful topology-oriented functionality on any common 2D CAD S/W.

  • Digital Manufacturing is a technology to facilitate effective product developments and agile productions by digital environments representing the physical and logical schema and the behavior of real manufacturing system including manufacturing resources, processes and products. A digital factory as a well-designed and integrated environment is essential for successful applications of this technology. In this research, we constructed a sophisticated digital factory of an automotive company’ general assembly shop by measuring and 3-D CAD modeling using parametric methods. Specific parameters of each objects were decided by object-oriented schema of the general assembly shop. It is expected that this method is very useful for constructions of a digital factory, and helps to manage diverse information and re-use 3D models.

  • Scene Transition Nets(STN) is a very useful modeling method for discrete-continuous hybrid systems. However, it is difficult to write STN in standard object-oriented programming languages because STN programming requires much skill of object-oriented programming and high knowledge of STN of designers. To overcome this problem, the authors have developed a useful GUI simulator software for modeling and simulations of STN. The experimental results of a transport system including an AGV showed the availability of our software.

  • 본 논문은 한옥 설계 지원 시스템을 개발함에 있어서 부재의 수를 획기적으로 줄이면서 한옥을 설계할 수 있는 효과적인 부재 표현방식을 제안하고자 한다. 한옥은 규모, 지붕의 모양, 공포의 유무 등에 따라 다양하게 분류할 수 있으며 결구방식 및 연결부재에 따라 부재의 수가 매우 다양하다. 이러한 다양한 부재를 모두 설계하게 되면 설계 시에 부재의 사용과 취급이 어려워진다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해서 전남 표준한옥올 중심으로 한옥의 목구조 방식을 체계적으로 분석하고 특성이 비슷한 부재들을 모아서 하나의 템플릿으로 설계하여 다양한 형태의 유사부재들을 속성 값에 따라 자유롭게 생성할 수 있도록 객체지향 방식의 표현기법을 사용한다. 제안된 방식은 객체지향 방식의 부재를 표현함에 있어서 연결 부재간의 상관관계를 부재와 부재간의 관련 파라미터들 사이의 결합규칙을 적용함으로써 설계의 오류를 최소화 하도록 지원할 수 있다.
