The smartphone operates the media server daemon to handle audio service requests. Media server daemons, running with a high privilege in the background, caused many vulnerabilities to applications most frequently used in smart devices including smartphones. Fuzzing is a popularly used methodology to find software vulnerabilities. Unfortunately, fuzzing itself is not much effective in such format-strict environments as media services. In this paper, we propose a file format-aware fuzzing in order to efficiently detect vulnerabilities of media server daemon. We acquired a remote arbitrary code execution vulnerability on iOS/tvOS/MacOS/watchOS, and we verified the effectiveness by comparing our methodology with the fuzzers FileFuzz and ZZUF.
In order to register an application with Apple's App Store, it must pass a rigorous verification process through the Apple verification center. That's why spyware applications are difficult to get into the App Store. However, malicious code can also be executed through normal application vulnerabilities. To prevent such attacks, research is needed to detect and analyze early to patch potential vulnerabilities in applications. To prove a potential vulnerability, it is necessary to identify the root cause of the vulnerability and analyze the exploitability. A tool for analyzing iOS applications is the debugger named LLDB, which is built into Xcode, the development tool. There are various functions in the LLDB, and these functions are also available as APIs and are also available in Python. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a method to efficiently analyze potential vulnerabilities of iOS application by using LLDB API.

In the age of smartphones, users accomplish their daily tasks using their smartphones due to the significant growth in smartphone technology. Due to these tremendous expansions, attackers are highly motivated to penetrate numerous mobile marketplaces with their developed malicious apps. Android has the biggest proportion of the overall market share when compared to other platforms including Windows, iOS, and Blackberry. This research will discuss the Android security features, vulnerabilities and threats, in addition to some existing protection mechanisms.

Blockchain has been developed as a key technology for many cryptocurrency systems such as Bitcoin. These days, blockchain technology attracts many people to adopt it to various fields beyond cryptocurrency systems for their information sharing and processing. However, with the development and increasing adoption of the blockchain, security incidents frequently happen in the blockchain systems due to their implementation flaws. In order to solve this problem, in this paper, we analyze the software vulnerabilities of Bitcoin and Ethereum, which are the most widely used blockchain applications in real world. For that purpose, we conduct an in-depth analysis of source code of them to detect software vulnerabilities, and examine an OS command injection attack exploiting the detected ones.
There are a great number of Internet-connected devices and their information can be acquired through an Internet-wide scanning tool. By associating device information with publicly known security vulnerabilities, security experts are able to determine whether a particular device is vulnerable. Currently, the identification of the device information and its related vulnerabilities is manually carried out. It is necessary to automate the process to identify a huge number of Internet-connected devices in order to analyze more than one hundred thousand security vulnerabilities. In this paper, we propose a method of automatically generating device information in the Common Platform Enumeration (CPE) format from banner text to discover potentially weak devices having the Common Vulnerabilities Exposures (CVE) vulnerability. We demonstrated that our proposed method can distinguish as much adequate CPE information as possible in the service banner.

Multimedia Broadcast communication convergence services are broadcast communication convergence services new form that combines a platform technology for driving the application services of various media-related Internet and TV devices. It is possible to mounted the embedded OS of TV existing technology and to support a variety of smart application services to a TV technology evolved form equipped with various platforms on the OS. The services that are fused in this way, multi-media broadcasting communication convergence new services Open IPTV, Smart TV, mobile IPTV, and N-screen, are services actively focusing on three companies domestic services. However, in order to use the software to connect to the Internet for the provision of services, is inherent software vulnerabilities or the Internet. These vulnerabilities can lead to serious security incidents. Therefore, in this paper, or be able to derive the potential security threats that occur in multimedia broadcasting service environment based on security threats and vulnerabilities of existing threats lead to such security incidents in fact, the security it was carried out through a mock hacking validation for threats. It was also suggested necessary technical security measures that can be protect against security threats revealed by using the verification result through the penetration testing. Has been presented countermeasures in fusion communication service environment of multimedia broadcasting by using these results.

This paper presents a secure Linux OS in which multi-level security functions are implemented at the kernel level. Current security efforts such as firewall or intrusion detection system provided in application-space without security features of the secure OS suffer from many vulnerabilities. However the development of the secure OS in Korea lies in just an initial state, and NSA has implemented a prototype of the secure Linux but published just some parts of the technologies. Thus our commercialized secure Linux OS with multi-level security kernel functions meets the minimum requirements for TCSEC B1 level as well kernel-mode encryption, real-time audit trail with DB, and restricted use of root privileges.
Current security efforts provided in such as firewall or IDS (intrusion detection system) of the network level suffer from many vulnerabilities in internal computing servers. Thus the necessity of secure OS is especially crucial in today's computing environment. This paper identifies secure OS requirements, analyzes tile research trends for secure Linux in terms of security kernel, and provides the descriptions of the multi-level security(MLS) Linux kernel which we have implemented. This security kernel-based Linux meets the minimum requirements for TCSEC Bl class as well providing anti-hacking, real-time audit trailing, restricting of root privileges, and enterprise suity management functions.
Since smartphones are utilized in the ranges from personal usages to governmental data exchanges, known but not patched vulnerabilities in smartphone operating systems are considered as major threats to the public. To minimize potential security breaches on smartphones, it is necessary to estimate possible security threats. So far, there have been numerous studies conducted to evaluate the security risks caused by mobile devices qualitatively, but there are few quantitative manners. For a large scale risk evaluation, a qualitative assessment is a never ending task. In this paper, we try to calculate relative risk levels triggered by software vulnerabilities from unsecured smartphone operating systems (Android and iOS) among 51 Asian countries. The proposed method combines widely accepted risk representation in both theory and industrial fields. When policy makers need to make a strategic decision on mobile security related agendas, they might find the presented approach useful.
