Analysis of U.S.-China Relations on The Korean Peninsula Military Puzzle : Under Circumstance of NK's Nuclear, THAAD, US-ROK Alliance (한반도 군사적 현안에 관한 미중관계 고찰 : 북핵, 사드, 한미동맹의 환경 하에서)

  • The U.S.-China Relations could be analyzed two perspectives and their basis under major international p olitics theory-power transition with conditions: (1) North Korean's nuclear puzzle, (2) THAAD in the Kor ean Peninsula and (3) the U.S.-ROK Alliance. One perspective is the global order dominates the regional order, and then stable regional order comes out. The other is the regional order dominates the global ord er, and China wages a regional hegemonic conflict against the United States. Consequently, America's o verwhelming leadership in North Korean's nuclear, THAAD and U.S.-ROK Alliance as national power is expected to endure. But China also has expected empowerment and cooperation for the peace and stabilit y on the Korean Peninsula military problems. In this perspective, South Korea needs to pay attention to the changing power distribution and competition between the U.S. and China and needs to strengthen a balancing and harmonious diplomatic strategy, so called 'see-saw diplomacy'.

  • The percentage of lesion height vs. plant height was higher in Yushin than Jinheung within the same nitrogen level. The infection occurred at the same level of waterline and the symptoms developed with the same speed for two varieties, but the damage was greater in Yushin as the symptoms reached faster to the top due to the short length of the 1st and 2nd internodes from the top.

Spatial Analysis of Stomach Cancer Incidence in Iran

  • Stomach cancer, the fourth most common cancer and the second leading cause of cancer-related death through the world, is very common in parts of Iran. Geographic variation in the incidence of stomach cancer is due to many different factors. The aim of this study was to assess the geographical and spatial distribution of stomach cancer in Iran using data from the cancer registry program in Iran for the year 2009. The reported incidences of stomach cancer for different provinces were standardized to the world population structure. ArcGIS software was used to analyse the data. Hot spots and high risk areas were determined using spatial analysis (Getis-Ord Gi). Hot and cold spots were determined as more than or less than 2 standard deviations from the national average, respectively. A significance level of 0.10 was used for statistical judgment. In 2009, a total of 6,886 cases of stomach cancers were reported of which 4,891 were in men and 1,995 in women (standardized incidence rates of 19.2 and 10.0, respectively, per 100,000 population). The results showed that stomach cancer was concentrated mainly in northwest of the country in both men and women. In women, northwest provinces such as Ardebil, East Azerbaijan, West Azerbaijan, Gilan, and Qazvin were identified as hot spots (p<0.1). In men, all northwest provinces, Ardabil, East Azerbaijan, Gilan, Qazvin, Zanjan and Kurdistan, the incidences were higher than the national average and these were identified as hot spots (P<0.01). As stomach cancer is clustered in the northwest of the country, further epidemiological studies are needed to identify factors contributing to this concentration.

  • Breast cancer (BC) is the most common cancer in females (27% of the total) and the main cause of death (16%) due to cancer in women in developed and developing countries. Variations in its incidence rate among geographical areas are due to various contributing factors. Since there have been a lack of studies on this topic in our country, the present spatial analysis of breast cancer incidence in Iran in 2009 was conducted using data from the national cancer registry system. The reported incidences of the disease were standardized according to the World Health Organization population and the direct method. Then data was inserted into the GIS software and finally, using the Hot Spot Analysis (Geties-Ord Gi), high-risk areas were drawn. Provinces with incidences 1.96 SD higher or lower than the national average were considered as hot spots or cold spots, at the significance level of 0.05%. In 2009, a total of 7,582 cases of BC occurred in Iran. The annual incidence was 33.2 per hundred thousand people. Our study showed that the highest incidence of BC in women occurred in the central provinces of the country, Tehran, Isfahan, Yazd, Markazi and Fars. The results of hot spots analysis showed that the distribution of high-risk BC was focused in central parts of Iran, especially Isfahan province (p <0.01). The other provinces were not significantly different from the national average. The higher incidence in central provinces may be due to greater exposure to carcinogens in urban areas, a Western lifestyle and high prevalence of other risk factors. Further epidemiological studies about the etiology and early detection of BC are essential.

  • As information and business communication via Internet are growing up, web-based software is wide spread and more important on the viewpoint of software qualify than stand-alone. Research on verification of web content links and web-based Program was tried, but has short on covering various types of web based software and making experiments to be applied in real testing practice. This paper suggests a modeling technique to be applied to dynamic and various types of web-based software. First, it identifies each elements consisting of web-based software and then construct a model of Object Control Flow Graph and Object Relationship Diagram. We can generate test cases covering all test paths of ORD or invoking key points test route. Suggested modeling method and test case selection technique are verified by applying five types of web-based software and compared with other web-based test techniques.

Fractionation of Iron in Rice Leaf Tissue (벼잎의 철분별 정량)

  • A new method for the measure of iron pools using 0.02M EDTA and $Na_2S_2O_4$ was tested on Akagare diseased and healthy rice leaf tissue 1) The proposed method could fraction iron into four fractions; ferrous iron($Fe^{++}$), ferric iron($Fe^{+++}$) precipitated iron(PFe) and bound iron(BFe) well indicating the physiological status of tissue. 2) The pattern of iron pools appears to be $Fe^{+++}>PFe>BFe>Fe^{++}$ in most physiologically favorable status of iron, $PFe>Fe^{+++}>BFe>Fe^{++}$ in favorable status, $BFe>Fe^{+++}>PFe>Fe^{++}$ in unfavorable status and $BFe>PFe>Fe^{+++}>Fe^{++}$ in toxic status. 3) The percentage of each fraction to total iron was less than 10 for $Fe^{++}$, 20 to 40 for $Fe^{+++}$ and PFe and 20 to 50 for BFe. 4) Ferrous iron was always higher in upper half leaf, the appearance of which is less healthier than lower half indicating that there is more active metabolic system in which ferrous iron is involved.

Relationship among Grain Yield, Nitrogen Efficiency and Nitrogen Uptake Amount in Rice Plant (수도(水稻)에서 수량(收量), 질소효율(窒素效率) 및 질소흡수량(窒素吸收量)의 상호관계(相互關係))

  • Relationship among grain yield (Y) nitrogen efficiency (E) and nitrogen uptake amount (N) was investigated using the data from Korea and Japan in order to find out the way of increase nitrogen efficiency. The relationship between E and N could be grouped in various classes. In each class the equation. Y=EN=(b-aN)N, is valid where b is a theoretical maximum of E and a is the E/N at theoretial maximum yield. Present technique for high yield in the rice research seems to achieve 56.8 of nitrogen efficiency with 15.5kg of nitrogen uptake. Future target appears to be 63 of efficiency with 17kg of nitrogen uptake at which some farmers in Japan might reach already. It seems that the increase of nitrogen uptake for high yield is restricted without increase of nitrogen efficiency. The increase of efficiency and uptake amount of soil nitrogen seems essential to increase total nitrogen efficiency.

  • 상수의 엽면적은 상엽의 수획량 즉 수량과 높은 상관관계가 있고 그의 간이측정법은 매우 의의 깊은 일이므로 상전에서 생체대로 엽면적을 측정할 수 있도록 간이측정법을 고안하였다. 우리나리 상수의 주요품종인 개량서반, 일지뢰, 노상 그리고 수원 제4호의 4개품종을 재료로 절위별로, 지조별로 엽면적과 엽장, 최대엽폭과의 관계를 조사 실험하였으며 공시 엽수는 개량서반 741문, 일지뢰 853문, 노상 507문, 수원제4호 441문, 도합 2,542문이었다. 5개열엽으로 엽형이 비슷한 개량서반과 일지뢰의 2개품종의 엽면적은 (엽장$\times$최대엽폭)$\times$0,643, 단엽인 노상과 수원제4호의 2개품종의 엽면적은 (엽장$\times$최대엽폭)$\times$0,735에 의해서 구할 수 있음을 알았다. 즉 개량서반과 일지뢰는 엽장에 최대엽폭을 곱한 적에 계수 0.634를 곱함으로써 전처리엽에서 planimeter에 의한 엽면적과 높은 상관관계를 보였고 이때의 상관계수의 평균을 개량서반에 있어서는 r=0.931, 일지뢰에 있어서는 r=0.960이었다. 노상과 수원상4호는 엽장에 최대엽폭을 곱한 적에 계수 0.735를 곱함으로써 전처리엽에서 planimeter에 의한 엽면적과 또한 높은 상관관계를 보였고 이때의 상관계수의 평균을 개량서반에 있어서는 r=0.931, 일지뢰에 있어서는 r=0.960이었다. 노상과 수원상 4호는 엽장에 최대엽폭을 곱한 적에 계수 0.735를 곱함으로써 전처리엽에서 planimeter에 의한 엽면적과 또한 높은 상관관계를 보였고 이 때의 상관계수 r의 평균을 노상에 있어서는 r=0.999, 수원상 4호에 있어서는 r=0.996이었다. 이 방법에 의하면 시간과 노력을 크게 절감시킬 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 생체대로 쉽게 엽면적을 구할 수 있는 이점이 있다.

Photochemical Oxidants Damage in Rice Plants (Photochemical Oxidants에 의한 수도피해(水稻被害) 해석(解析))

  • The effect of photochemical oxidants on rice plants was measured by growing the rice plants Nihonbare in pot in charcoal-manganese oxide filtered atmosphere and non-filtered air. Visible injury on the leaf blades of rice plants were observed in plants grown under the unfiltered air chamber, but plants under filtered air chamber were free from any injury. Fresh weight of stem and root at maximum tillering stage in unfiltered chamber were 16.8 and 46.4% less than filtered air chamber, respectively. Grain yield in unfiltered air chamber was also reduced by 14.7% compared to that of filtered air chamber. And the reduced yield paralleled increase in concentration of oxidants in the atmosphere at the experimental site. ABA content in rice plants cultivated in unfiltered air chamber was higher than in filtered air chamber, but the root activity of rice plants in unfiltered air chamber was remarkably decreased.
