This paper presents an approach to the development of bio-ontology using the Object-oriented Ontology Manager(OOM). OOM views a term of an ontology as an object which can be an instance or a concept. OOM facilitates the semi-automatic construction of ontologies by an intuitive interface and by inferencing with links among complicated and informative ontology terns. The main advantage of OOM is simple-to-use not compromising expressiveness so that ontologies in a complicated domain such as bioinformatics can be modeled intuitively. The ontologies constructed by OOM are easily exported to ontologies in other ontology languages without semantic loss because the structures of both the ontology by OOM and the ontologies in most of standard ontology languages are analogous. A translator to another standard ontology language is also provided by OOM so that the ontology can be combined with others to be applied to more complicated applications.

Proposed in the paper is a V-FMS (Virtual Flexible Manufacturing System) model to be used as a prototyping tool for FMS design. The proposed V-FMS framework follows an object-oriented modeling (OOM) paradigm and is based on a set of user requirements for FMS prototyping. The V-FMS model consists of four types of object: virtual device, transfer handler, state manager and flow controller. A virtual device model, which corresponds to a static model in OOM, consists of two parts, shell and core, for reusability. A transfer handler corresponds to a functional model of OOM and it stores low level device commands required to perform job flow operations between giving and taking devices. The state manager and the flow controller constitute a dynamic model of OOM. The proposed V-FMS model has been implemented for a couple of linear type FMS-lines

Recently, OOM(Object-Oriented Method) access method which begins to apply to software development is emphasizing development cost and time reduction through independent software reuse. But because of planning to the exclusion of the lack of knowledge and expansion or performance for development technology many problems are coming out. Therefore, this thesis suggests Effective Object-Oriented Modeling methods considering the plan for higher productivity enhancement of software in the software development life cycle. Effective Object-Oriented Modeling method includes, methods, Use Case modeling methods, Analysis Modeling methods, Design Modeling methods and others.

This study was conducted to identify the attributes constituiting Korean social support and to validate the results of the previous study ‘Search for the meaning of social support in Korean Society.’ The informants were 41 Korean middle-aged women in three cities Seoul, Daejun and Daeku. The data were collected through indepth interviews using the interview guide from Jun. 1994 to Jun. 1995. The interview guide was developed in the simulated situations of ‘Stroke attack’ which expected to be in need of social support. The women were asked to answer what they felt and the appropriate terms representing the situations. Data analysis were conducted by content analysis. Consequently, the Korean social support pyramid was modified as follows ; Support is the apex of the pyramid. The four sides of the pyramid are made up of ‘Jung’(Bound by ties of affection, regard or shared common experience, Connectedness), Do-oom(both emotional and material help), Mi-dum(Faith or belief in) and Sa-Rang(Love). The base of the pyramid is ‘yun’(the basic network of relationships in Korean culture) that connote the meaning of Eunhae(Benevolence), Euimu(duty, responsibility) and Dori(obligation).

The orbicularis oris muscle (OOM) is a very important muscle that originate from the second branchial arch and is innervated by the facial nerve. The aim of this study was to elucidate distribution types of two muscle fibers that composing OOM by using enzyme-histochemical examinations and tried to make a basis for a clinical application. The fresh frozen tissues from the superior and inferior portions of the OOM were taken from post mortem 65-year-old Korean male adult. Total five different sagittal sections were used on the midline of the philtrum, the middle portion of lower lip, the mouth corner, and each midlateral side of upper and lower mouth. We used enzyme-histochemical staining such as Periodic Acid-Schiff (PAS), Succinic Dehydrogenase (SDHase), reduced Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide-Tetrazolium Reductase (NADH-TR), Adenosine Triphosphatase (ATPase) in pH 9.4, 4.6 and 4.3, and Modified Gomori Trichrome. There were about 30.24 % type 1 muscle fiber and 65.40 % type 2 muscle fiber in the midline of the philtrum (p < 0.05). Enzyme-histochemical staining is very useful and innovative method to elucidate characteristics of muscle fibers. We expect that chiloplasty and reconstruction of the lip portions for cleft lip patients, based on these results, are better to recovery function and aesthetic. However, we have some problems as an intramuscular variability and the inter-individual variation etc. Therefore we have to make progress these studies continuously to overcome these problems.

An electric excavator consumes battery energy to drive an electric motor attached to a hydraulic pump to generate hydraulic power. In a conventional hydraulic excavator, the hydraulic pump is controlled by regulators, which are used to optimize the diesel engine efficiency. Because of a lack of battery energy capacity, an electric excavator controller should consider not only the electric motor efficiency but also the hydraulic pump efficiency. Thus, electric motor and hydraulic pump efficiency maps were constructed. An optimal operating map (OOM) was created based on the most efficient operating points under each input condition. An integrated control algorithm controlled the speed of the electric motor and displacement of the hydraulic pump according to the OOM. To confirm the utility of this algorithm, a model-in-the-loop simulator for the algorithm with an electric excavator was established. The simulation results showed that the integrated control algorithm improved the energy efficiency of an electric excavator.

This study was to determine the effects of a massage and oro-facial exercise program on spastic dysarthric patients' lip muscle function using an electromyogram (EMG). Three subjects with Spastic Dysarthria participated in the study. The surface electrodes were positioned on the Levator Labii Superior Muscle (LLSM), Depressor Labii Inferior Muscle (DLIM), and Orbicularis Oris Muscle (OOM). To examine lip muscle function improvement, the EMG signals were analyzed in terms of RMS (Root Mean Square) values and Median Frequency. In addition, the diadochokinetic movements and the rate of sentence reading were measured. The results revealed that the RMS values were decreased and the Median Frequency moved to a high frequency area. Diadochokinesis and sentence reading rates were improved.
