  • The study was undertaken to identify college freshmen' depression, anxiety, and somatic symptoms and clarify college life characteristics influencing it. The study was a descriptive study with 300 freshmen from H university. Data were collected from April 22 to 26, 2013 using a structured self-report questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression. As a result, first, the mean scores of the subjects were 2.33 in depression, 1.94 in anxiety, and 1.63 in somatic symptoms. Their depression, anxiety and somatic symptoms were higher as their sex and perceived self-efficacy. Second, college life characteristics explained 46.1% of variance in depression and 26.3% of variance in anxiety. college life characteristics, depression and anxiety explained 35.8% of variance in somatic symptoms among freshmen. These results will be used for developing programs to increase mental and physical health and to adapt in college life for freshmen.

  • This study was done to identify factors influencing suicidal ideation in middle school students. Data were collected by questionnaires from 673 middle school students in D metropolitan city. Measures were daily life stress, problem of life, social support, depression, and suicidal ideation. Data were analyzed using frequencies, means and standard deviation, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple regression analysis with SPSS/WIN 19.0 version. The mean score for suicidal ideation of the participants was 1.22, out of a possible 5. There were significant differences in suicidal ideation according to religion, record, family structure, experience of school violence, and economy status. Suicidal ideation correlated positively with daily life stress, problem of life and depression and negatively with social support. According to the research, factors influencing suicidal ideation in middle school students were problem of life, depression, social support, daily life stress, and experience of school violence. Based on the outcomes of this study, it is necessary to design an intervention program that emphasizes the reducement of problem of life, depression, daily life stress, school violence and enhancement social support in order to prevent suicidal ideation in middle school students.

  • This study is to evaluate the accuracy of the meteorological information provided for the aircraft operating at low altitude. At first, it is necessary to identify crucial elements of weather information closely related to flight safety during low altitude flights. The study conducted a survey of pilots of low altitude aircraft, divided into pre-flight and in-flight phases, and reached an opinion that wind direction, wind speed, cloud coverage and ceiling and visibility are important items. Related to these items, we compared and calculated the accuracy of TAFs and METARs from Taean Airfield, Seosan Airport and Gunsan Airport because of their high number of domestic low-altitude flights. Accuracy analysis evaluated the accuracy of two numerical variables, Mean Absolute Error(MAE) and Root Mean Square Error(RMSE), and the cloud coverage which is categorical variable was calculated and compared by accuracy. For numeric variables, one-way ANOVA, which is a parameter-test, was approached to identify differences between actual forecast values and observations based on absolute errors for each item derived from the results of MAE and RMSE accuracy analyses. To determine the satisfaction of both normality assumptions and equivalence variability assumptions, the Shapiro-Wilk test was performed to verify that they do not have a normality distribution for numerical variables, and for the non-parametric test, Kruscal-Wallis test was conducted to determine whether or not they are satisfied.

  • This descriptive study was performed to identify the factors that influence fatigue in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. A total of 117 subjects were recruited from a university hospital in J city. For data collection, a questionnaire survey was performed between May 1 and June 28 2013. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, one way ANOVA, Pearson Correlation, and multiple regression analysis using the SPSS WIN 15.0 package. The mean fatigue scores of the subjects was 2.80. Depression, age, and time since the diagnosis were the variables influencing fatigue. The total explanatory power of these factors on fatigue was 40%. In conclusion, it is essential to develop a fatigue control nursing program considering depression, age and time since the diagnosis for patients with type 2 Diabetes mellitus.

  • The study was done to identify factors influencing self-care in tuberculosis (here in after TB) patients. Data were collected by questionnaires from 216 TB chemotherapy as outpatients by visiting a "M" TB hospital located in the C city. Measures were self-care, health-belief(susceptibility and severity, benefit, barrier), and family support. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, One-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple regression analysis with the SPSS/WIN 19.0 version. The subjects' self-care score 3.76 out of 5. There were significant differences in self-care among the subjects due to gender, marital status, family structure with the subjects, average monthly income, smoking status, drinking status and period of taking TB drugs. There were significant correlations among benefit, barrier, family support, and self-care. According to the research, influencing factors on self-care in TB patients included family support, barrier, average monthly income, smoking status, and benefit. Findings from this study can be used as basic data to develop self-care programs for TB patients.

  • The purpose of this research was to compare the microtensile bond strength of resin coated surface and resin inlay according temporary filling materials prior to applying self-adhesive resin cement. Caviton(GC, Japan), Provifil(Promedica, Neumunster, Germany), Provifil(Promedica, Neumunster, Germany) & petrolatum, and Eugenol-based cement, Tembond(Kerr, Orange CA, USA) were used as temporary filling materials. After fabrication of Tescera(Bisco, Schamburg IL, USA), it was bonded with a self-adhesive resin cement, Rely X unicem(3M, St. Paul. Minn, USA). After this procedure, the microtensile bond strength was measured and it was analyzed through one-way ANOVA and Duncan test(p<0.05). Caviton(GC, Tokyo, Japan) showed statistical difference except for the control(group I) and the saliva(group II)(p<0.05). Provifil(group IV), Provifil & petroneum(group V), Tembond(group VI) had lower microtensile bond strength.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between emotional intelligence, burnout and nursing productivity, to find the factors for nursing productivity need to the efficient management of nursing organization. 255 nurses were collected a structured questionnaire by convenience sampling with 300 beds, Nov. 12-Dec. 26 in 2013. Data were processed SPSS 17.0, using t-test, one way ANOVA, Scheffe test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and enter multiple regression analysis. These results showed a significant negative correlation between emotional intelligence and burnout, a significant positive correlation between emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence, total clinical experence, burnout and position had a significant influence on nursing productivity, Nursing productivity explained 43.4% of the variation. Therefore, it demanded that to build the infrastructure for the nursing organization of carrer management, to improve emotional intelligence, to design diverse intervention program for the nurses, to reduce burnout, and to increase work productivity.

  • The purpose of this study was to provide foundations for proper stretching method not to lose muscle strength caused by shrink of muscle for preventing injury and improving performance when we make training programs. This study compared and analyzed isokinetic variables related to the static stretching frequency of knee joint extensor by isokinetic instruments applied to normal adults. 45 normal adults are randomly sampled into 3 different groups. All the measured variables were processed with SPSS and, means and standard deviations at each angle speed were calculated. The difference of means between before and after stretching of each groups were processed by paired t-test. One-way ANOVA and after test(Duncan) This study was able to see that stretching decrease acute isokinetic muscle strength High frequency stretching group showed more efficient decrease of muscle strength than low frequency stretching group. As a result, making training program for a game requiring strong muscle strength should consider proper stretching method not to lose muscle strength.
