  • Lichen planus is a chronic disease characterized by bilateral and multiple lesions on the skin or oral mucosa. Lichen planus is caused by immune mediated degeneration along the border between epithelium and connective tissue. The incidence of oral squamous cell carcinoma in patients diagnosed with oral lichen planus (OLP) is reported to be between 0.4%-5.6% in different studies and the World Health Organization has categorized lichen planus as "a potentially malignant disorder". However, the correlation between OLP and oral cancer still remains controversial as some reported that the reason for increased incidence of squamous cell carcinoma in OLP patient is misdiagnosis of dysplastic lesion as OLP. This report aims to discuss the correlation between OLP and oral cancer through a case of middle aged woman diagnosed with OLP who was successfully treated but developed squamous cell carcinoma 8 years later.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate whether there were any changes in taste sensitivity with oral lichen planus (OLP). Sixty subjects (26 males and 34 females) were included for the study and they were categorized into 2 groups (oral lichen planus 30 persons, control 30 persons), oral lichen planus group was investigated in the department of Oral Medicine, College of Dentistry, Pusan National University from April, 2005 to February, 2006 and control group was investigated in the clinic at Cheongju City from february, 2006 to april, 2006. The electrical taste thresholds were measured using an electrogustometer of the 4 different sites (tongue tip, tongue lateral, circumvallate papilla and soft palate) in oral cavity. The results were as follows; 1. The electrical taste threshold showed a tendency to decrease in the OLP group. 2. The electrical taste threshold showed a tendency to decrease in female group, but showed a tendency to increase in male group of the OLP group. 3. The electrical taste threshold showed a tendency to increase in tongue tip, tongue lateral of the multiple OLP group, but showed a tendency to decrease in circumvallate papilla, soft palate of the multiple OLP group. 4. The electrical taste threshold showed a tendency to increase in tongue tip, tongue lateral of the acute OLP group, but showed a tendency to decrease in circumvallate papilla, soft palate of the acute OLP group. 5. After treatment, electrical taste threshold was significant lower in soft palate of the OLP group than control group. 6. After treatment, NAS was significantly lower in soft palate of the OLP group than control group.

  • Lichen planus is a chronic inflammatory mucocutaneous disease that affects multiple sites of the body. Often it involves the oral mucosa, but also involve other sites such as skin, genitals, scalp and nails. There is no clear cause of oral lichen planus (OLP), current data suggest that OLP is a T-cell mediated autoimmune disorder which may have an altered self-peptide triggering apoptosis of oral epithelial cells. Usually OLP appears in middle-aged women which tends to be chronic with periods of exacerbation and remission. There are many theories those causes the OLP such as psychological and environmental factors, genetic tendency, drugs and more. 60-70% of lichen planus is accompanied by oral lesions, and more than half of its cases are not able to defined by their skin. In this study, among all the possibility(possible) theories, we tried to evaluate the influence of emotional stress in exacerbating OLP. There were thirty patients with a clinical or histological diagnosis of OLP and other thirty subjects who did not show any signs of systemic disorders include OLP. They were evaluated by using modified Holmes and Rahe's Social Readjustment Rating Scale (SRRS). As a result, a significantly higher level of stress was found in the OLP patients than the control group. Therefore it could be concluded that psychological stressors play an important role in the exacerbating OLP.

  • It is necessary to improve the exactness and adaptation of the working environment in the intelligent robot system. The vision sensor have been studied for this reason fur a long time. However, it is very difficult to perform the camera and robot calibrations because the three dimensional reconstruction and many processes are required for the real usages. This paper suggests the image based visual servoing to solve the problem of old calibration technique and supports OLP(Off-Line-Programming) path compensation. Virtual camera can be modeled from the real factors and virtual images obtained from virtual camera gives more easy perception process. Also, Initial path generated from OLP could be compensated by the pixel level acquired from the real and virtual, respectively. Consequently, the proposed visually assisted OLP teaching remove the calibration and reconstruction process in real working space. With a virtual simulation, the better performance is observed and the robot path error is calibrated by the image differences.

  • 최근 산업현장에서는 작업의 빈번한 변화에 따른 로봇의 재배치, 테스트로 인해 많은 비용이 소모되고 있다. 이러한 문제점의 해결방안으로 OLP(Off-line Programming) 시뮬레이션 시스템이 주목받고 있다.

  • It is necessary to improve the exactness and adaptation of the working environment for the intelligent robot system. The vision sensor have been studied for a long time at this points. However, it has many processes and difficulties for the real usages. This paper proposes a visual servoing in the virtual environment to support OLP(Off-Line-Programming) path compensation and supplement the problem of complexity of the old kinematical calibration. Initial robot path could be compensated by pixel differences between real and virtual image. This method removes the varies calibrations and 3D reconstruction process in real working space. To show the validity of the proposed approach, virtual space servoing with stereo camera is carried out with WTK and openGL library for a KUKA-6R manipulator and updated real robot path.

  • An off-line programming, OLP, system is widely used in automation fines. To help an on-line robot system to carry out desirable tasks planned by the off-line simulation, an approach to the real-time communication is presented. The OLP system developed consists of a software, a host computer(PC), a SCARA robot body, four servo drivers, and four independent joint controllers. This study focuses on the software where real-time communication is included. The software, can be used in teaching, trajectory planning, real-time running, and performance evaluation. The evaluation of different control algorithms is one of the merits of the software. The software can give servo commands for task running. A comparison of generated and corresponding actual trajectories provides the evaluation of task performance. The safety, of the OLP system is ensured by alarming malfuntions of the system. The OLP system developed can reduce the teaching time and increase the user's convenience.

  • In this paper, to improve the efficiency of welding and user convenience in the shipbuilding industry, a PC-based off-line programming (OLP) technique and the development of a robot transfer unit are presented. The developed OLP system is capable of not only robot motion simulations but also automatic generations of a series of robot programs. The strength of the developed OLP system lies in its flexibility in handling the changes of the welding robot's target objects. Moreover, for a precise transfer of the robot to a desired location, an auxiliary mobile platform named a robot-origin-transfer-unit (ROTU) was developed. To enhance the cornering capability of the platform in a narrow area, the developed ROTU is equipped with 2 steering wheels and 1 driving wheel. Both the OLP and the ROTU were field-tested and their performances were proven successful.

  • Heat treatment for car body molds is mainly a manual process performed by a worker. The performance of this process is affected by workers' skill level, and has limitation in maintaining uniform product quality. In this study, we developed a diode laser heat treatment robot system that implements an OLP type simulator to overcome the limitation of manual process, and to improve and stabilize the quality level. In addition, we verified the efficiency of the robot system and mechanism stability from the early stage through design verification and simulated analysis in the development stage. In addition, we carried out a field test to study the way to establish optimized D/B for diode laser heat treatment criteria for car body molds, such as heat treatment speed, interval, etc. via site experiment.
