A panoramic-PIV technique is employed to characterize the travelling tip vortices and the profile of oil-water Interface in the tandem fence arrangement. Instantaneous as well as time-averaged velocity profiles of the water layer close to the interface were obtained to evaluate the possibility of measuring the shear stress distribution on oil-water interface. It was proven that the present technique could provide some qualify data precise enough to resolve detailed flow structures inside a shear layer formed on oil-water interface provided it is nearly stationary.

This study was carried out to investigate the effect of the feeding mixture of linseed oil, rich in n-6 PUFA on the lipid metabolism in the dietary hyperlipidemic rats. After male Sprague-Dawley rats were induced hyperlipidemia by feeding the diet containing lard, butter and cholesterol for 3 weeks. then they were fed with the diet containing lard 3.0% and butter 12.0% for control, the mixture in different proportion of both linseed oil and sunflower seed oil, and antihyperlipidemic drugs for 2 weeks. Analysis of the fatty acid composition of the brain and heart lipids showed following results. In the fatty acid composition of brain lipids, C20:4 and C22:6 were the major fatty acids but showed little difference among the groups. In the fatty acid of heart lipids,C18:2 was the major fatty acid. The proportion of C20:4 decreased gradually as n-3P/n-6P ratio of the test lipids increased in groups 5 (linseed oil 12.0%) to 9 (sunflower seed oil 12.0%) while the proportion of C22:6 was not affected by the fatty acid composition of the test lipids.
This study was carried out to remove the water from low grade anthracite slurry produced at Eoryong coal mine by the oil agglomeration process. 80% of Anthracite as a coal oil mixture (COM) was separated from water by the difference of specific gravity. Then, the amount of kerosene, diesel oil, and heavy oil forming COM was 10% of the amount of sample, respectively. The recovery rate of combustibles and ash content of agglomerated anthracite were affected largely by the amount of added oil, pulp density, particle size, mixing time, and impeller speed. The recovery rate of combustibles was increased to 95% and ash content was decrea-sed from 30% to 13.5% under the optimum conditions.
We conducted a test of a direct burning of crude Jatropha oil (CJO) in a commercial boiler system. The fuel, crude Jatropha oil is not biodiesel which comes from transeterification process of bio oil, but it is pure plant oil. The higher heating value (HHV) of the CJO is 39.3 MJ/kg (9,380 kcal/kg) and is higher than that of a commercial heating oil, 37.9 MJ/kg. The kinematic viscosity of CJO is 36.2 mm2/s at $40^{\circ}C$ and 8.0 mm2/s at $100^{\circ}C$. The burner used in the test is a commercial burner for a commercial heatingoil and its capacity is 140 kW (120,000 kcal/h). We did a preliminary test whether the combustion is stable or not. The preliminary test was a kind of open air combustion test using the commercial burner with crude Jatropha oil. We found that the combustion can be stable if the crude Jatrophaoil temperature is higher than $90^{\circ}C$. We measured the flue gas concentration by using a gas analyzer. The NOx concentration is $80{\sim}100\;ppm$ and CO concentration is nearly 0 ppm at flue gas O2 concentration of 3.0 and 4.5%.

The present study is directed at flow and heat transfer of $CO_2$ and oil mixtures in a circular tube. PAG and POE oils are considered in this study. Flow characteristics of $CO_2$ and oil mixtures have been investigated by flow visualization. Pressure drop has been measured in the range of operating mass flow rate from 0.1 to 0.4 kg/min in a circular tube. Heat transfer characteristics of $CO_2$/oil mixtures have been investigated using a counterflow heat exchanger. In case of pure liquid $CO_2$ as well as $CO_2$ and POE mixtures, flow are seen to be uniform so that $CO_2$ and POE oil are still miscible even at flowing state. However, it is found that $CO_2$ and PAG are not miscible. Pressure drop of $CO_2$/PAG mixtures are much higher than that of $CO_2$/POE mixtures as well as pure $CO_2$ at a fixed mass flow rate. As the concentration of POE oil is increased from 0 to 5 wt%, pressure drop is increased. However, heat transfer rate and heat transfer coefficient of $CO_2$/POE mixtures are much higher than that of $CO_2$/PAG mixtures. The f-factor correlation and Nusselt number correlation for $CO_2$/POE oil mixtures are suggested in this paper.
Crosslink density of a rubber vulcanizate determines the chemical and physical properties, while bound rubber is an important factor to estimate reinforcement of a filled rubber compound. Extender oil is added to a raw rubber with very high molecular weight for improving processability of a rubber composite. Influence of extender oil on crosslink density, bound rubber formation, and physical properties of solution styrene-butadiene rubber (SSBR) composites with differing microstructures was investigated. Crosslink densities of non-oil-extended SSBR (NO-SSBR) vulcanizates were higher than those of oil-extended SSBR (OE-SSBR) ones. Bound rubber contents of NO-SSBR compounds were also greater than those of OE-SSBR ones. The experimental results could be explained by interfering of extender oil. The OE-SSBR vulcanizates had low modulus but long elongation at break, whereas the NO-SSBR ones had high modulus but short elongation at break. It was found that the crosslink densities affected the physical properties more than the bound rubber contents. The moduli increased with increase in the crosslink density irrespective of extender oil, while the elongation at break decreased. Each variation of the tensile strengths of NO-SSBR and OE-SSBR vulcanizates with the crosslink density showed a decreasing trend. Tear strength of the OE-SSBR vulcanizate increased with increase in the crosslink density, whereas variation of the tear strength of NO-SSBR vulcanizate with the crosslink density showed a weak decreasing trend.

This study is described the stabilizing technology of water-in-oil (w/o) emulsion and the mechanism of emulsification with quaternium-18 hectorite (Q-18 HTRT) by swelling action. When Q-18 HTRT is dispersed in oil, it swells and constructs card-house structure adding ethanol, and formation of water phase is caused by hydrogen bonding. The gelling activities of Q-18 HTRT were excellent such as mineral oil, squalane, cetostearyl isononanoate, isostearic acid, cetyl octanoate, octyl dodecanol and so on. Especially, when oil gel containing Q-18 HTRT passed one to three times by Roll mill. It made the W/O emulsion cream (W/O-ECRM) having 2.0 w/w% of Q-18 HTRT and also produced the control sample (control) including 3.0 w/w% of cetyl PEG/PPG- l0/l dimethicone. The stability of after 24 weeks, Hardness of W/O-ECRM dropped 7.48%, whereas hardness of control went down 57 71%. As a result of these test emulsification of W/O-ECRM is superior compared with control. In cosmetic, 0-18 HTRT can use as suspending agent, oil adsorbent, emulsifying agent, dispersing agent, viscosifier and pigment.

The inverter rotary compressor discharges refrigerant and compressor oil in air-conditioning systems. The compressor oil which discharged form compressor decreases the efficiency of heat exchanger and affects the compressor operation. Recently, several studies are in progress for reducing the compressor oil. Before the reduction of compressor oil discharge rate, the quantitative measurement and evaluation method are required. In order to cope with this requirement we have developed the measurement technic of oil discharge rate. The reliability assessment was carried out approximately 0.1% of the errors with compressor performance indicators. The acceptable errors were to ensure the reliability of measurement technic. In the experiment results at several conditions, The oil discharge rate of heating operation has been confirmed average 3.7 times more than cooling operation. In this study the evaluation method and the experimental results of oil discharge rate in air-conditioning systems are presented with various operating conditions.

This paper deals with the effect of decomposition products which occur in breakdown of mineral oil, on the insulation characteristics of its oil. Breakdown tests in the oil were conducted by the proposed experimental methods under a quasi-uniform field and AC HV (60Hz). The breakdown voltage in the oil shows characteristics of dispersion from successive breakdowns and, it is found that there are three patterns of the decomposition products behavior at the process of breakdown progress in the oil. Finally, the breakdown voltage dispersion in the oil can be described in detail based on the behavior patterns of the decomposition products and its diffusion time.
