그린 셀룰러 네트워크를 위한 Cell Zooming 가능을 가진 기지국들의 관리 (Management of Base Stations having Cell Zooming Capability for Green Cellular Networks)

  • 셀 주밍은 트래픽 변화에 따라 기지국의 셀 범위를 적응적으로 변화시킬 수 있도록 한다. 이러한 셀주밍은 안테나 각도 조절, 기지국 클러스터링 혹은 셀 릴레이를 통해 구현될 수 있다. 셀룰러 네트워크는 셀주밍을 이용하여 에너지 효율적으로 셀 범위를 조절하여 기지국에 소비되는 에너지를 절감할 수 있다. 하지만 기지국의 소비 에너지 절감과 사용자 측면에서의 호 단절 확률 간에는 trade-off가 있어 적절한 관리방법이 필요하다. 이를 위해 주기적으로 기지국들의 셀 주밍을 조절하는 방식이 사용되었다. 그러나 이 방식은 일정주기에 따라 동작하기 때문에 동적 특성을 가지는 트래픽의 경우에 적절하지 못하다는 단점을 가지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 트래픽 상황에 따라 반주기적 (semi-periodic)으로 기지국의 셀주밍을 관리하는 방식을 제안했다. 이와 관련하여 반주기적 셀주밍을 하는 기지국 선정방법과 그러한 기지국들의 동작방식도 제안했다. 시뮬레이션을 통한 성능평가에서 제안방식이 기존 방식보다 에너지 소비를 절감하면서도 비슷한 수준의 호 단절 확률을 유지할 수 있는 것을 확인하였다.

  • In this paper, we propose a cell scheduling algorithm for ABR traffic in ATM multiplexer. Proposed Algorithm can support ABR service more efficiently than existing WRR and DWRR algorithm. We evaluate the performances of proposed algorithm through computer simulation. Also, we model the VBR and the ABR traffics as ON/OFF source, and the CBR traffic as a Poisson source. And the simulation shows that proposed algorithm better performance over other cell scheduling algorithm in tem of mean cell delay time.

  • Anode off-gas of high temperature fuel cell still contains combustible components such as hydrogen, carbon monoxide and hydrocarbon. In this study, a catalytic combustor has been applied to the high temperature fuel cell so that the combustion of anode-off gas can be boosted up. Since the performance of catalytic combustor directly depends on the combustion catalyst, this study is designed to perform the experimental investigation on the combustion characteristics of the three commercial catalysts with a different composition. Screening tests with three catalysts are preceded before the performance examination since it is necessary to determine the most suitable catalyst for design configuration of the catalytic combustor. The performance analysis shows that methane conversion rate strongly depends on gas hourly space velocity (GHSV) as well as inlet gas temperature. Additionally, the GSHV optimization results show that the optimum GHSV will be in the range between 18,000 $hr^{-1}$ and 36,000 $hr^{-1}$. It is also shown that the minimum inlet temperature of catalytic reaction of methane is from $100^{\circ}C$ to $150^{\circ}C$.

  • 본 논문은 비동기 전송모드에서 중첩 입력하는 서로 다른 속도의 트래픽에 대한 데이타 처리를 셀의 손실 면에서 분석한 것이다. 멀티미디어 데이타를 대상으로 할 중첩 입력 프로세서의 트래픽 제어로서 사용감시제어를 대상으로 하였으며 Leaky-Bucket 알고리즘의 발생-소멸 프로세서를 이용 셀 손실률을 계산하였다. 해석결과는 버퍼용량의 증가에 대하여 셀 손실률이 현격하게 감소하는 결과를 보였으며 셀 손실률은 유한용량 버퍼에 대한 토큰풀의 특성을 고려하여 2-state MMPP(Markov Modulated Poisson Process) 입력 프로세서를 가정하였다. 해석 값을 검증하기 위해 SIMSCRIPT II.5를 사용하여 시뮬레이션을 하였으며 on/off 입력소스와 비교하였다.

전류세기 조정이 가능한 대전력 발광다이오드 광원 회로용 정전류 다이오드 제작 (Fabrication of Current Intensity Convertible CLD of Large Current Intensity for LED Network Application)

  • A current intensity convertible CLD chip was fabricated using small and large FET cell configuration. Pinch-off current of 8.82 mA and 11.56 mA were obtained for small and large cell in the CLD chip, respectively. Constant current was fairly maintained until the breakdown voltage of 60 V. Measured knee voltage, $V_k$ were 3.8 V and 4.5 V for small and large cell, respectively. We configured current amplifying chip with parallel connection of each cells, by connecting 8 individual large cells in parallel network, 92.0 mA of current was obtained. The pinch-off constant current of CLD chip was varied very linearly with respect to the number of parallel connected cell.

  • Programmable metalization cell (PMC) memory 소자로도 명명되는 고체 전해질 메모리 소자는 비휘발성, 고속 및 높은 ON/OFF 저항비 등을 갖고 있기 때문에, 차세대 비휘발성 메모리로서 각광받고 있는 소자 중의 하나이다. 본 논문에서는 고체 전해질 메모리 소자의 동작 원리를 먼저 소개하고자 한다. 또한, 메모리향 소자 개발을 진행 중인 미국 코지키 교수 그룹, 비메모리향 소자 개발을 진행 중인 일본 NEC 그룹 등의 해외 연구진과, Te 계열의 칼코게나이드 합금을 채택하여 소자를 제작한 한국전자통신연구원 및 충남대학교 등의 국내 연구진의 연구 성과를 소개하고자 한다.

CEA, AFP, CA125, CA153 and CA199 in Malignant Pleural Effusions Predict the Cause

  • Determination of the cause of malignant pleural effusions is important for treatment and management, especially in cases of unknown primaries. There are limited biomarkers available for prediction of the cause of malignant pleural effusion in clinical practice. Hence, we evaluated pleural levels of five tumor biomarkers (CEA, AFP, CA125, CA153 and CA199) in predicting the cause of malignant pleural effusion in a retrospective study. Kruskal-Wallis or Mann-Whitney U tests were carried out to compare levels of tumor markers in pleural effusion among different forms of neoplasia - lung squamous cell carcinoma, adenocarcinoma, or small cell carcinoma, mesothelioma, breast cancer, lymphoma/leukemia and miscellaneous. Receiver operator characteristic analysis was performed to evaluate sensitivity and specificity of biomarkers. The Kruskal-Wallis test showed significant differences in levels of pleural effusion CEA (P<0.01), AFP (P<0.01), CA153 (P<0.01) and CA199 (P<0.01), but not CA125 (P>0.05), among the seven groups. Receiver operator characteristic analysis showed that, compared with other four tumor markers, CA153 was the best biomarker in diagnosing malignant pleural effusions of lung adenocarcinoma (area under curve (AUC): 0.838 (95%confidence interval: 0.787, 0.888); cut-off value: 10.2U/ml; sensitivity: 73.2% (64.4-80.8)%, specificity: 85.2% (77.8-90.8)%), lung squamous cell carcinoma (AUC: 0.716 (0.652, 0.780); cut-off value: 14.2U/ml; sensitivity: 57.6% (50.7-64.3)%, specificity: 91.2% (76.3-98.0)%), and small-cell lung cancer (AUC: 0.812 (0.740, 0.884); cut-off value: 9.7U/ml; sensitivity: 61.5% (55.0-67.8)%, specificity: 94.1% (71.2-99.0)%); CEA was the best biomarker in diagnosing MPEs of mesothelioma (AUC: 0.726 (0.593, 0.858); cut-off value: 1.43ng/ml; sensitivity: 83.7% (78.3-88.2)%, specificity: 61.1% (35.8-82.6)%) and lymphoma/leukemia (AUC: 0.923 (0.872, 0.974); cut-off value: 1.71ng/ml; sensitivity: 82.8% (77.4-87.3)%, specificity: 92.3% (63.9-98.7)%). Thus CA153 and CEA appear to be good biomarkers in diagnosing different causes of malignant pleural effusion. Our findings implied that the two tumor markers may improve the diagnosis and treatment for effusions of unknown primaries.

A Low Vth SRAM Reducing Mismatch of Cell-Stability with an Elevated Cell Biasing Scheme

  • A lower-threshold-voltage (LVth) SRAM cell with an elevated cell biasing scheme, which enables to reduce the random threshold-voltage (Vth) variation and to alleviate the stability-degradation caused by word-line (WL) and cell power line (VDDM) disturbed accesses in row and column directions, has been proposed. The random Vth variation (${\sigma}Vth$) is suppressed by the proposed LVth cell. As a result, the LVth cell reduces the variation of static noise margin (SNM) for the data retention, which enables to maintain a higher SNM over a larger memory size, compared with a conventionally being used higher Vth (HVth) cell. An elevated cell biasing scheme cancels the substantial trade-off relationship between SNM and the write margin (WRTM) in an SRAM cell. Obtained simulation results with a 45-nm CMOS technology model demonstrate that the proposed techniques allow sufficient stability margins to be maintained up to $6{\sigma}$ level with a 0.5-V data retention voltage and a 0.7-V logic bias voltage.

  • This paper presents a task teaching method for off-line programming of a multi-robot system. Teaching commands were developed in order to simplify a complex teaching process, to shorten the setup time for new working environment and to have flexibility for changes in working environment. Four teaching commands can be used to automatically generate trajectories of an end-effector of the robot in electronics assembly line. The robots used in the work cell are a four-axis SCARA robot and six-axis articulated robot. Each robot is controlled in a independent way while objects, working environment and robots are modeled in corresponding modules, respectively. The off- line programming system developed uses OpenGL for a smooth graphic effect in Window s where three dimensional CAD data can be leaded for graphical modeling.

Tilt-rotor 항공기 동력계통 중량 추정에 대한 상쇄연구 (Trade-off Study of Propulsion Systems Weight Estimation for Tilt-rotor Personal Air Vehicle)

  • This paper presents the trade-off study of conducting a survey of the weights for various kind of propulsion systems installed in the Smart Unmanned Aerial Vehicle TR-100, a tilt-rotor vehicle, which is developed by Korea Aerospace Research Institute, in order to predict the appropriate propulsion system for present and future Personal Air Vehicle, which has single mode and vertical take-off & landing. In order to perform the trade-off study, we set the requirements that the vehicle hovers for 1 hour with 1,000 kg maximum take off weights. In this study, the power systems are classified engine, which uses the fossil fuel - turboshaft engine, piston engine, diesel engine and rotary engine, and electric motor with fuelcell or Li-Ion battery. The results of trade-off study shows the power systems using fossil fuel are superior to using fuelcell or Li-Ion battery for weight of propulsion system. Also turboshaft engine is the best power system for the aspects of system weight, and the nexts are rotary engine, piston engine, diesel engine, electric motor with Li-Ion battery, and electric motor with fuelcell.
